They are pretty similar players in terms of productivity. The big difference is that Cook was a late second round pick and Williams was a fifth rounder, but draft status doesn't matter anymore for future planning.

They should be valued similarly.  Cook is more explosive but limited because the Bills don't trust him in pass rushing.  Kyreen Williams had the most percentage of running back runs on the Rams by one running back for his team than any other running back did for his team in the league.  That includes Barkley and Henry.

Oh, I’m sure they have been. But Kyren’s contract sets a comparative marker. If Cook and his camp believed they were worth $15M/yr, but just saw a comparable back sign for $11M/yr, they have to know they’re not getting $15M in free agency. All other teams can point to the contracts similar backs make and Cook will have to face the music.

Arrogance and delusion are as strong as any drug you will find. Don't underestimate him and his camp thinking he deserves Henry $$$.

Two down back vs three down back?

In fairness to Cook, I believe he is capable of being a three down back, and I believe his blocking deficiencies are overstated. Truth is, I don't think we really know how well Cook can block or how well he'd perform as a three down back. Because we have Ty Johnson who is a better third down running back.

Surely they wouldn’t be that delusional. There were reports the two sides were close.

If that's going to be a factor than the JA17 factor is valid, too.

Cook isn't an every down back on the field on 3rd downs enough, which concerns me to more than $12mm/yr.

His blocking is not good, that is why he was pulled for the final drive against KC.

Cook is a bit better but that’s a good baseline. 12.5-13 million is the highest I’d go with Cook.

Not so sure about that, they seem to be in about the same tier to me.

The question is would the Bills be willing to give Cook the same or a slightly larger deal.....and the next question is would Cook accept that.

Should offer him same deal.  Take it or leave it.

I go 11.5 per vs 11 per that Williams got.  That way Cook csn say he got paid more.

Cook is definitely not better.

I didn't realize how productive Williams is. Rushing 1300yds and 14TDs last year.

Yes, so people saying Cook is better, how so?  They seem pretty even to me.  Cook’s market value is nowhere near what he is asking.  I would be surprised is the Bills are not in this same ballpark with their offer.

If they had the same deal, which player would you rather have?

Since the Bills are married to a running back by committee approach I'd want Cook.  Seven rushing TD's of more than 20 yards by Cook over three seasons.  Only one by Williams.  He's just more explosive.

Nice to have this done and get some perspective for both sides.

It wont be the same deal for Cook, he'll be looking for more. He's an explosive weapon, and a 2nd round big name vs a 5th rounder. As much as anyone wants to say that doesnt matter, it definitely plays into the player's willingness to "settle". Same thing happened with Benford and Shakir.

We'll have a to pay a bit of a premium, but hopefully not much more.
