The situations are similar.  The only difference is that the safety position is more demanding mentally while CB is more demanding physically.   Still, as well as Tre White has played in training camp, as long as he's healthy this season, he's going to start.

Yeah.  I had the same reaction.  I've always heard it the other way round....but then thought it must just be me.

When healthy, Hairston will play if there is a matchup where his speed gives Bills an advantage.

Max will make starts this year. I'd bet heavily on it. The chances of White or Benford missing time is fairly likely. It's a tough league.

Chris Brown was talking up Jacob Bayer, who's been getting those reps you mentioned, the other day saying he's got impressive strength and good center of gravity. Not sure if he makes the 53 but could be a developmental guy. The only worry is he might only be a C.

In years past that wasn't the case as McDermott always went with "doing your 1/11th of the defence", instead of maybe leaning into more athleticism.

 

But I think this year you might be right, as I think the Bills are going to lean into more athleticism
