Sojourner Posted Monday at 06:15 PM Posted Monday at 06:15 PM For you likely candidates, it depends on a few things: Keon Coleman for the WR and the DE rotation opposite Groot. If they get quality production out of the guys behind Bosa on that. I think they’ll go back to those guys and possibly bring Bosa or another vet back for insurance. My thoughts are either Safety or RB for the most likely if I’m honest. That safety group is still up in the air even with Rapp, who I like but can definitely be upgraded. Outside of Hamlin we don’t know who or what we will get between Bishop/Forrest. Cook is all down to money. Don’t think we throw the franchise tag on him for 2026 if an extension or a new deal works out, which given the reported expectations and demands from his side, I think he’s a goner unless he comes down in price. Obviously if he doesn’t we’ll be in the market. The dark horse for me is LB and OT. That group of LBers isn’t as bad without Milano. There’s a lot of guys who can play but just have some inconsistencies. But what’s the biggest inconsistency? Being unavailable. Shaq Thompson is the Milano insurance if Dorian/Spector don’t fill that void. That leaves Buffalo Joe and Ulofoshio (who knows what’s going on there). 1 minute ago, Royale with Cheese said: LG or RG. I always wonder if they go LT and slide Dawkins inside, back to where he was wrongfully projected to only ever be of NFL caliber; inside. Quote

If you draft an OL in the first, you should expect him to win a starting job that year. I hear you but I think we take for granted our bookend continuity. Ultimately, losing an OT for a season is not uncommon and it’s nice to have a talent pipeline at such a high paid position. suffice it to say, if we have our usual late first round pick and an OT was sitting there as the clear BPA, I would take him without second thought. 2 hours ago, DrDawkinstein said: Still a total waste. If we're going to operate under the philosophy of "you dont pay RBs" then they shouldnt be drafted any earlier than the 3rd. We need those 1sts and 2nds becoming long-tenured, contributing, cornerstone players. Not temporary rentals. And if by picking at 32 youre implying that we just won the SB, then there is no way Cook ISNT a big part of that success, and shouldnt be allowed to walk either. Yeah I’m implying that if we have pick 32 because we win the Super Bowl, Beane would have to draft all punters for 2 years in a row before I call for his head. 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted Monday at 07:25 PM Posted Monday at 07:25 PM I actually think this is a great topic. If they do go WR it’ll mean they’ll have taken 2 WRs and a TE in three of the last four drafts. That’s probably not a good thing. So, I’m hoping it doesn’t come down to that. 1 Quote

Ethan in Cleveland Posted Monday at 08:15 PM Posted Monday at 08:15 PM At this point I would say DE, but OT is next on my list. Quote

Lost Posted Monday at 08:18 PM Posted Monday at 08:18 PM Board consensus is WR so it will be anything but that. 2 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted Monday at 08:30 PM Posted Monday at 08:30 PM My top 2 was LB and RB. Not saying that’s the direction I’d go in but they need to move on from Milano and if they’re not sold on Williams being the long term replacement that’s a very strong possibility. In addition if Cook is gone, Davis is capable imo but Beane loves drafting RBs and usually the best ones slip to end of round 1 2 Quote

Lagoon Blues Posted Monday at 08:45 PM Posted Monday at 08:45 PM By the results I think many are conflating what position they will draft with what position they want them to draft Quote
H2o Posted Monday at 08:49 PM Posted Monday at 08:49 PM I went WR, but I think it depends on how their board lines up and if Cook is re-signed. We could look to go RB in the 1st otherwise. Quote

Us fans always talk about guys changing positions (White and/or Douglas moving to Safety, etc), but how often does it ever really happen across the entire league? You're paying Dawkins like a LT. Will that continue as a LG? You gonna ask him to take a pay cut? I think a lot of guys would retire over switching positions. 1 Quote

I was talking down the line....like 2027 or so. Dawkins is still a top 7 left tackle in the league now. I believe Andrew Whitworth moved to LG for a bit in his career. 1 Quote

I’m talking down the road; his fina contract year 2027. He’ll be 32 next year and 34 when his current contract expires, not saying he doesn’t have the chops to last that long just a thought. Theres been severs tackles who successfully slid inside over the course of history, no reason he can’t unless you want to continue paying him top 5 in base salary and cap hit. Food for thought down the road. 12 minutes ago, Royale with Cheese said: I was talking down the line....like 2027 or so. Dawkins is still a top 7 left tackle in the league now. Trevor Penning made the move this year inside, plenty of other guys throughout the years. Even our our Mike Williams moved to guard in the past. Quote

I don't see us taking a guard in the first unless it's 30-32 QB, Pass rusher , CB, WR, Tackle are where id look in the first... We are set at QB, CB... LT to groom behind Dion Dawkins for a year might be a sneaky pick I see pass rusher or WR Unless your Quentin Nelson , Zach Martin , Chris Lindstrom I'm very hesitant about 1st round guards ... It's a position that gets developed I think you can get plenty of really really good guards un the second third even fourth round Edited Monday at 09:37 PM by Buffalo716 Quote
