ESPN? I think they mean Disney. Disney ruins everything. Eventually they will own the entire world and just light a match and watch it burn.

I guess I meant how bad ESPN has become.

ESPN like a lot of media has had to adapt to the times and it has caused them to have all of their punditry become very clickbaity and sensationalized because that's what gets clicks on Youtube. Their actual broadcasting of events isn't bad, they sometimes make mistakes but overall their broadcasting of actual games is about as good as it ever was.

When ESPN was the only major centralized sports hub on TV and there was very limited online competition ESPN could be a very "journalistic" type of channel. SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, and other more straight news type programs flourished. Even their "punditry" shows they started doing in the early to mid-2000's like PTI and Around the Horn weren't as clickbaity and sensationalized as a lot of their shows are now.

It's not that Disney ruined ESPN so as much as the times changed and they simply couldn't get by on being the only place where you could see highlights from all of tonight's baseball games.

Oh, really, Vernon? Why pretend, we both know perfectly well what this is about. You want me to have an abortion.

I like to imagine there is a millennial here for the first time reading the thread, not getting any of these references, just like this.

It's really the only sensible thing to do if it's done properly. Therapeutically there's no danger involved.

South Park's parodies on Disney with Mickey Mouse are awesome AND spot on.

Disney has gone down the tubes.

I have some early (and very rough) pre broadcast South Park episodes, on the old 'Zip Disk' format, somewhere in storage.

NFL just got 10% of ESPN for the NFL network (which was costing a boatload to produce).

Great deal for the league.  Always printing money

The only thing I care about in this deal is Red Zone not sucking. It's literally the perfect product. No "adjustments" or "tweaks" needed.

they'll do split screen commercials to annoy us

The problem was that I was a + subscriber from pretty much the beginning. When they would send you The Magazine with the sub, which was great. Then when Disney got into the mix, somehow my separate accounts got mixed, without my knowledge, so every time I tried to get into the account section on ESPN+ it would send me to disney, and there was no way to delete the ESPN+ piece

long story short had to open a ticket with both my credit card provider and Disney.  It took MONTHS.  And in the end, i decided to cancel both, because they couldnt figure out how to separate them

edit:  TLDR:  RIP RedZone

You think ESPN can't mess it up? Look what they did to sport center, and imagine someone coming in with a sob story about one of the players every 5 minutes. One purpose for us, maybe not ESPN. I hope you are correct

If ESPN messed up NFL Network, then I am sure another network will come that people will adopt.  In fact, the folks from NFL Network will leave and start the new one.  As someone else said, it is not as if NFL network is great.

You are correct, it isn't great. However, I don't have to have Disney/ESPN politics pushed on me there. Well, that is until now I suppose.
