Guys, I know people don’t respect flag football, but it is a different sport than tackle.  I played tackle ball, and wrestled, and Powerlifted, but respect the skills it takes and athleticism of professional flag football players.  I coached my boys for years, and although they both played tackle as well, they loved flag.  The deception, speed, strategy, etc. was fun for them.  With tackle they were able to legally hit people so had the best of both worlds.  My boys played in an ultra competitive league where coaches would film tough upcoming opponents, cherry pick talent as these coaches knew what good looked like.

 

So I respect what those young men accomplished.  I love hitting g and taking down people as much as the next guy, but to be an excellent flag player, you have to be quick, great hands, athletic, fast twitch, and elusive.

Some of those players are really young, half of them still have pacifiers.

 

The Bills were on brand, blown safety coverage leading to the Bengals one score. The Bengals were on brand too, cheap shot thug hit on the Bills go ahead touchdown late in the 2nd half.

I watched, it’s fun. I coached a flag football team back in the 1980s, rules are completely different now.

It’s not sad…..it’s a way for this kids to work on their craft in the offseason…..no need for them to bang heads year round.

 

My 12u team has a roster of 10 kids……all but 1 kid plays tackle football in the fall.

That one kid on the Jags 14u…….Brysen Wright…..kid made that unreal catch right in front of me.  Kid has a ton of offers from power 5 programs.

Some of those 14 year olds are really impressive.  Good way to work on their skills without absorbing the bone crunching hits.

I work in Clifton Park and seeing this on the news today was the first I’d heard of it.
