Curious about how FinHaven was reacting to the Hill Injury, and expecting If be plowing through gallons of popcorn in the process, I traipsed on over to their board to read the tea leaves:

Hills injury | FinHeaven - Miami Dolphins Forums hills-injury.388579

What strikes me is that they're about as lifeless as their team. God, here we are, with Schopp and The Bulldog caterwauling for three hours about how our 2nd and 3rd string RB's aren't producing enough. Meanwhile, one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the league is probably done for the season, if not his career, and Dolphins fans are basically like, "Oh man, that sucks...".

Can you, for one moment, try and imagine this board if we were in their shoes? We would be literally burning the Internet to smithereens!

Maybe... Just maybe we should take a moment to realize how damn good we have it, right now, folks. Maybe we shouldn't melt down when our 2nd and 3rd stringers aren't posting Madden stats. Maybe... Just maybe we should check ourselves before we become kin to the dreaded, two-decades-worth of entitled Pats fans...

Perspective is a lonely hand to hold, boys. We got it pretty damned good!

Are we now like Alabama football fans during the Nick Saban era? Where if we didn't score a TD every drive, or three-n-out every opponent, someone's head would roll?

Difficult to disagree with this plea for perspective.

Also important to distinguish between fans who "melt down" versus fans who "make critical observations" of a 4-0 team whose opponents are a collective 2 and 14... WOW!?!? Not melting down about it, but definitely not basking in these early wins where both the winless Saints and Dolphins had the Bills back on their heels in consecutive 4th quarters...

First reply of the thread inches it toward the fire McDermott narrative.  Excellent work.

At least Antonio Brown is funny. What is this guy‘s redeeming quality?

Well, there is that, but he does makes everyone around him appear to be smarter than he is…,  although that’s not saying much  lol

That cart ride last night was weird to say the least. You could see his frustration when he was clapping. It looked like he was going to break his wrists he was clapping soooo hard and smiling while gritting his teeth. Honestly, it was strange and I kinda felt bad for him. Then he waved to the crowd in a " I'm finally outta this hole" kinda way. Very interesting cart ride to say the least.....

McDaniel is the epitome of the fact that some coaches should just remain coordinators. Not everyone who is a good OC or DC should be a HC. Xs and Os are an only small part of the gig. Not all are built for it. So many examples of this.

It happens in Businesses regularly, great sales people promoted into management jobs that they are ill suited for, followed by a drop in sales, or in this case wins…,

It was very weird.  It almost looked like he was saying “YES!” to imply that he was happy the season was over.  So weird

This is true.  From all reports he’s not really much of a CEO as head coach.  He basically runs the offense but has always given his defensive coordinator complete autonomy with little to no input.

This is so true and it happens in every line of work, not just business. One of the great ironies in life is that the only way to achieve success is to be so good at something that they promote you to a position where you no longer do that thing.

They have a name for that, it is called The Peter Principle:

The Peter Principle theorizes that employees in most organizational hierarchies automatically rise through promotion to higher positions. However, competent employees will be promoted, but will ultimately assume positions for which they are incompetent.

Regardless of what you think of him as an individual, that was one of the nastiest dislocations I have seen. At 31 years old, with multiple torn ligaments, and the fact he likely won't see the field in 2026 either, I'd guess his career is likely over. That would put him trying to return in 2027 at age 33. For a speed WR, I really think this will sap anything he had left and make him average at best.

One of the more gruesome injuries I've seen

It's possible he could come back in 2027 and still be an above-average slot receiver. Yes he's a "track star," but he's not a total one-trick pony. He has also been incredibly durable for a little guy. He's an athletic freak. If they can repair it, he can probably play again.

A lot will depend on how his cartilage fared - ligaments are almost always fixable, but cartilage can be very tricky. If they have to do some kind of microfracture on top of the ligament repairs, then yeah he might be done.

BTW, I'm glad a fell asleep before it happened! I can't watch that stuff.
