Single game tickets - holy crap!

It’s disgusting.  Used to have family friendly prices back in the day (for anything sports/entertainment) but it’s way out of bounds now.

Can I afford the ticket prices for sporting events?  Sure.

A few years ago, with the Rams playing in the Super Bowl in LA, a a Rams fan friend asked me to go to the game with him.  Basic Ticket prices were $4500.  No way was I going to pay that for a game.  This last Super Bowl, the prices were around $6500.  I am totally priced out.

 

My Oakland A’s moved to Sacramento so I thought I’d catch a few games but learned that they’re charging the highest average ticket prices in MLB.  Goodnight!

I live in VA and was checking tickets for the Panthers game in Charlotte. That's only about a 4 hour drive for me. Crazy prices. I'm not going if I can't get decent priced seats that are in the middle somewhere between the 30's. And I'm not paying $600-$700 a ticket.

This and it’s become common practice for premium tickets for games, concerts, etc. to be put directly on secondary markets by the original sellers (teams, performers, etc.). This shields them from much of the criticism they would get from charging those prices directly because it looks like it’s the secondary market jacking up the prices. They can claim that the face value of their tickets is reasonable, but fans don’t actually have a chance at getting the tickets at those prices.

I've tried that in recent years and no, it didn't work out.  It was better to purchase sooner and not have to stress about it.  That's what I did for this coming season.  Now if you're the type to wait until the morning of gameday to see if some people desperately need to unload their tix for cheaper then that might work.  But for me to save $50 or whatever, I'd just rather have the tickets well in advance.

I live in VA too.  I really wanted to go to that game and take my girlfriend's son

to his first NFL game. Got online on wednesday to buy tickets and saw the prices and then read comments about waiting until game day for a better price.  I did get tickets in Orchard Park against New England , almost 200 for nosebleeds. That's fine. I can afford anything , but like someone else said, doesn't mean I'm going to pay it.

You have to assume everyone is trying to see one last game at the old stadium.  

 

Ticket prices for the first two years of the new stadium will most likely be insane too.
