Darrick Forrest, a UDFA (Wande Owens), and a draft pick in Hancock. Seems like they have brought in safeties to me.

Yeah, he is better than Hamlin. More upside, too. So, even if Bishop isn't ready to start, Forrest is still a good option.

Forrest has been in the league for years and done nothing. I think he's far worse than Hamlin base don what I've read and his production. Hancock is currently a CB they want to convert to safety, so not a real threat to push anyone this year. I missed Ownes, so good catch on that.

I think Darrick Forrest was a pretty significant signing at safety in FA.

Significant is a wild overstatement on a guy who's done absolutely nothing in 3 out of 4 NFL seasons, and nothing in 2 years.

Don't know if he was significant but he was/is competition. I wonder if Hancock might get a look too. Feels like a ton of their eggs are in the "Cole Bishop astronomic leap forward" bucket though.

Camp body, but still weird to me to bring in an 8th pure DT.

The fact that Beane has done basically nothing to increase competition at S is the most perplexing non-move of the offseason to me. I 100% agree with the approach to prioritize the front 4, but I would have brought in a couple UDFAs and brought in some cheap options there that have real potential.

Any chance Tre White is our answer for Safety depth? He knows the system. Good tackler.

He’s not a good tackler

Maybe you have a good point.  But right now, we have 4, maybe 5, high-quality backups (Rapp, Hamlin, Bishop, Forrest, Hancock?).

We lack quality starters, and they aren't going to be found in the garbage bin of UDFAs.

He plays the penetrating style of defense the Bills want. He sacks Drake Maye and Shaduer in the video and stops Maye on Qb sneak. Who knows?

You don't often see DTs run fake punts!

Not your typical camp body.

I wouldn't expect he'll make the team, though almost any free agent has a chance to make the PS.  I guess he tested pretty well in the pre-draft process last year, but didn't produce very well in college.  This season, he would be nothing more than a fringe player.

Wait, he was going to play lacrosse at Syracuse and then ended up playing football as a DT?!

Was he going to play goalie or something...otherwise I'm having a hard time with the logistics of this

D pole?
