I don't think the Bills will be interested.

That's another side of it. If Beane wasn't interested in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, or 2024, at times when we needed help at DE (as opposed to this year) - why would he be interested now? He's already passed on him for other players on 5 separate occasions.

And ultimately, 2025 Clowney doesn't feel like much of an upgrade for us (if any) for any other position than the bottom of the rotation. And he'll have better opportunities elsewhere.

I don't.

*Maybe* Week 7 if everyone in the DE room stays healthy and there's nowhere else on the roster that's had injuries and opened up a roster spot. But to move him now would be to only have 4 DE's until Week 7, at a position where we always carry 5. Bosa isn't going to be taking more than 50% of snaps. So you'd be asking a 3rd Round Pick to be taking 50% or more of the snaps right out of the gate as a Rookie. If there's any injuries before Week 7, you're down to straight up relying on Jackson and Solomon to be taking way more snaps than they should. Which is a distinct possibility as Bosa is historically an injury waiting to happen. Not only would an injury have us relying on Jackson and Solomon - it would bring us down to just 3 DE's on the roster.

So, yeah, I wouldn't expect to see AJE going anywhere until Week 7 - if at all.

I figure the trade deadline when the two suspensions are back.

How many teams has this guy been with?

I did want to use the Google, but I think six or seven. Next one might be seven. That’s a lot.

Do we have to adopt every stray? We just drafted a crap-ton of D-liners.

I think you missed the key point here.  He played on the Panthers and I've heard of him.  What more do you need?

More than Ryan Fitzpatrick?

A trade is definitely possible as it saves the Bills $6.2m.  If we cut him it would only save $2.7m.  The suspension of Hoecht complicates though.  You'd have to be okay with Groot, Bosa, Jackson, and Solomon as your four edge guys.  If we could find a trade partner I'd probably do it.  Epenesa was pretty poor last year.

I cant wait til they both retire. Just so we're spared the same threads year after year after year.

There may have been a time where i could've been on board with bringing them in, but unless its for vet minimum, i'd sooner play the new kids on the block.

For me, there is no by close to Aaron Rodgers in terms of hope for his retirement.  I’m sick of seeing headlines about him.  For all he may have learned from Favre on the field, he unfortunately copied the need for attention by dragging out his “decisions”.

Get R Done...

In all seriousness the Bills have a very crowded D-line room and they don't need a mercenary. Bosa is the front line pass rush mercenary Hoecht is on a 3 year deal and is that moveable chess piece, Groot and AJE are there, and they have Jackson drafted fairly high this year and Solomon as a back end prospect. That's 6 DE's and no need for a back end veteran depth. Simply put the Bills have 6 solid DE's there.

AJ is expendable if they can find a trade partner.   That is the only wauy the Bills can write off his $6M salary cap hit

He's had 9+ sacks 4x in his career, i'm sure someone gives him another contract before he's sitting on a practice squad.

Yup, including 9.5 in 2023.

He'll cost more than a camp body. But how much more is unclear.
