Maybe the Bills are just unlucky, but they have a history of giving big contracts to guys right before they disappear due to injury. Tre White, Milano, Von Miller, Ed Oliver, and a few free agent WRs all come to mind.  They spend so much money on guys who don't play.

He’s such a huge disappointment, I didn’t expect we were getting Jamar Chase or Jefferson but damn at least we should have got a guy who can separate and would have a chance of 1000 yards with Josh throwing to him.

 

Seems to happen with a lot of these jag receivers we’ve got in the last few years (Moore, Sheffield, McKenzie), we expect them to get better with Josh throwing to them but they don’t, not blaming Josh but it’s certainly strange. Mack Hollins got better though, that’s been the biggest loss

He’s been targeted 6 times this season. SIX! All year. Absolutely wild disconnect between front office and coaching staff. 
 

Something is not right when you give a guy 9 mil and he isn’t given any opportunities. It isn’t just Beane at fault here.

goto 28:00.  Bills squad speculates that there is competitive tension between McD and Beane.  They believe McD wants WR, and Beane doesn’t want one.  They believe that  Beane thinks he put together a good enough roster, and McD feels the opposite.  They say you never see the two of them together, and they use quotes from both to show their case.  And they said once you see it, you cannot help but see it.  That’s where I’m at.

 

This podcast automatically played after the Joe Marino podcast I listen to regularly, and I have to say that I really enjoy the mix of Marino,Ostroski, and White … Jeremy is far more palatable when teamed with truly knowledgeable co hosts

28:00 was a great discussion. I don’t listen to a lot of pressers so how they broke down how Beane and McDemott are answering questions it is enlightening. 
 

I have my gripes with Joe, especially his pre draft evals and how he talked about Cooks value for a contract, but I think he hit it on the head when it comes to Keon.

 

Diggs forced his way out and Davis became a free agent. We went into 2024 with no one with significant stats with Josh. So drafting Keon and making him a starter out of the gate especially one who is basically a boundary receiver was not fair to him. Now he may just not be an NFL level player, but I don’t think this was conducive to him maximizing the talent he does have.

Who it will be, and what Terry will do, I have no idea. But I believe he is going to shake the tree this offseason. It could be both guys that end up gone. In my opinion, IT SHOULD be both guys that are gone. I would have serious look at John McKay and Nolan Teasley for GM. 

 

Then, if we aren't bringing in McVay, or Lane Kiffin, or Cignetti, or Klint Kubiak, I would see about finding a way to get Daboll back in the fold. I don't know what that would look like, but I feel like Daboll was a scapegoat of sorts in NY. He turned Daniel Jones into a solid QB and forced the Giants FO to have to pay him because of what he did with him. When they let Saquon walk, it was all downhill. They get Dart and Skat this year, and the offense started to click with them on the field. This was even without Nabers. Josh grew exponentially when he was OC and had 3 of his best 4 years under him. Should he be the HC? Extremely hesitant with that, but I'd absolutely take him over McDermott. Flame away all you want, but I would because I know the offense would be humming again.

so has every other GM.  they all pass on guys who get on the field and make impacts other places.  its about fit,  coaching,  and sometimes the player.  more than just watching tape and taking a guy cuz reasons.  every damn GM in the NFL is throwing darts at a dart board hoping something sticks.

Citing Nacua is silly and obnoxious.  Every team in the league could have picked him in the first, second, third or fourth and he has lived up to a high pick, but not one team including the Rams saw it at the time.  The rest of that tweet isn’t all that much better.  Pick a team.  Pick their weakness.  Spend five minutes researching and it is easy to make a case similar to the above.

Even Mack Hollins wasn’t that great. He only had 300 something yards receiving, though he led the team in TD’s.

Terry isn't firing Beane or McD. We need to get that out of our heads for now. These guys are going to get (at least) one more shot to fix this siutation in the off season where they'll draft and sign and maybe even trade for a wr. Josh will be involved. Bet they figure something out.

The problem is that basically every scouting report said Coleman was exactly what we're seeing he is, but somehow this front office decided they weren't going to go with conventional wisdom and try to prove everybody wrong.  

 

Ladd was the better fit before the draft and he's still the better fit after the draft.

I feel in some ways Puka Nacua’s gauntlet time at the combine the year before, doomed the Bills into taking Coleman. Nacua had an average 40, but the best or second best gauntlet time in his class and the Bills missed on him. Coleman had the best gauntlet time in his class if I remember correctly and that might’ve elevated him in the Bills eyes, given what Nacua did his rookie year.

The challenge is that they don't have much wiggle room in the upcoming off season due to the salary cap.   They made the changes last season with the hope to have a team that will be around next 3 seasons.   NOw they are crumbling...and not enough talent around Josh.   All those big contracts are looking bad...except for Cook.

I think they nailed it, there is a problem between Beane and McDermott.

The rumor that Beane was "not allowed" to move meaningful assets at the deadline sort of fits if McDermott wants a new GM

 

IMO Pegula loves McDermott and really likes Beane.
