In Western New York it's pretty well known that she stopped it ... The NFL was fine playing in front of zero fans

Were talking about different things so we can move on.

im just stating people blame the weather and the dome when it’s really gov making the decision to delay it (then the nfl gets involved)!

Ofc there is a safety issue with traveling and that's why it does happen

I personally didn't lose sleep over having a game postponed 1 day

Said it earlier this week that purdy is playing and to take the 6.5 points but everyone laughed at me. The Niners said as much but noone on here wanted to listen.

Purdy is playing but no Williams, banks, bosa, Lenoir, greenlaw, aiyuk, I think Fred Warner is playing hurt.  Even if purdy was 100% healthy I’d jump on Buffalo -6.5

purdy is a completely different player without Trent Williams then all those other guys on top of it?  Williams legit could be mvp if the general public understood how important offensive line is 🤣

No..no it’s not.  If wind directions tend to not vary significantly with a LE event.  If they did, this would throw off one of the main catalysts as to what causes the higher snowfall accumulations.  It’s not just cold winds over warm water, it’s the duration.  The longer the fetch the more significant the event. Granted there’s rules of thumb and forecasting techniques for all events, I think you’re over simplifying LE events.  It’s mostly seasonal, and depends greatly on the path and cold air advection associated with the high.  This time of year, LE is more prominent because the super shallow Lake Erie isn’t yet frozen over, so Buffalo can get hits with a westerly flow (like we’re seeing now) or a NW flow off of Ontario.  With this event models are projecting a lengthy westerly flow off the lakes (don’t see much variability) which is why both western NY and the Watertown area are both being hit.

I don't agree with this. I live in a snow belt and most times the bands start South of us, shift north due small shifts in wind degree direction, sometimes will then even go further north of us for several hours, then return back over us and then shift down south again into the Southern Tier before ending. This is very common over these longer multi day events. I mean it's literally going to happen during this one.

You can even see the bands start to shift simply by looking at radar without having to know anything about the wind direction, it's pretty much telling you.

Sometimes you have disturbances that move thru like shortwave troughs that slightly change wind direction and move the bands completely away from an area to a new area...even small changes in wind direction, say from 270 degrees to 260 degrees has a large impact in where the band placement will shift.

For example, in Snowvember in 2014, we had two separate blasts of snow on consecutive days...the first was about 3.5 feet and then moved south overnight before returning the next day to drop another 3 feet. We were supposed to get more snow after it moved south again but it never returned north of Elma that time and we were spared thank God.

Same thing happened 2 years ago...started South, band shifted north and we got hammered, then it shifted all the way up to the North towns and even up to Lockport for quite a long time and they got about a foot and a half of snow very unusually, then it shifted back down again over us and back to the southtowns and ski country and then died out.

Lows and highs follow the long wave pattern, short wave troughs are not going to significantly impact a LE snow event.  It might impact a lake enhanced snow event but not lake effect.  Using two case studies to determine a climatological norm sounds like something a politician would do not a scientist.  There are only 3 things that really contribute to a LE snow event, the delta between air and water temp, the length / size of the fetch, and the positioning, relative speed / longevity of the high transiting the area.  Did you ever use BUFKIT while you were studying meteorology?

Well to be fair there aren't a lot of games were heavy snow falls during a game .. games I remember

Packers defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 40-14  at Lambeau Field in 2020

2013, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Detroit Lions 34-20

Then bills 13-7 in the snow storm

Imagine believing that it was an elaborate ruse by the Bills to lobby to the point where the Governor of New York declared a state of emergency in 15 counties 2 days before the playoff game was scheduled. They even went as far as having her declare a multi-county travel ban per their request!

49ers are enroute to Buffalo on United Airlines flt# 3818.  It’s a Boeing 777 scheduled to land at 11:45pm.
Not sure if they were planning to arrive late Friday night or if they left a day early to beat the worsening weather.

Didn't realize they could get a 777 into BUF.

Oooooh no you don’t!  We haven’t finished the lake effect argument yet and we are NOT starting an aircraft landing requirements argument.

Yet you never see a 41-38 score in a snow game…

Theyre always 13-7 or something similar 😂

Only high scoring snow game I can think of is that Eagles game in the early 2000’s.

Browns-Steelers two weeks ago 24-19. Browns suck and Steelers can't score a TD. Putting up 43 between the two of them is impressive IMO. 😂
