With a Dawkins and Milano restructure they can easily extend Douglas and Jones and add a free agent or two if they wanted without breaking the bank. Now next year when the cap hits to Diggs and Miller aren’t as severe they can be major free agent players again. I don’t expect anything major based off this news but McGovern and Floyd were huge signings based on their play. Let’s just hope any Harty/Sherfield type deals play out better for us this off-season. If anything, you are going to see some truly absurd deals thrown around for marginal FA's like Gabe Davis and AJE. And any restructure to free up cap space means you are paying even more money per year to your own guys (i.e. Josh Allen). If it does help the Bills it will be inadvertently with some of KC's stars like Sneed and Jones getting record deals from other teams that the Chiefs simply won't be able to match if money is more important than the 3peat/dynasty (and it usually is). Realistically, how often do you look at a player contract 3-4 years later and go "oh boy THAT was worth it!" I think the best one in recent memory for the Bills (fortunately) was Josh Allen's. A lot of the time players can't play up to expectations because it was nearly statistically impossible to play up to that level. Hyde and Poyer were journeymen when the came here and turned into one of the best safety tandems in the league. Morse and Beasley weren't bank breakers. Taron Johnson, Dawkins, Milano and Ed Oliver all have played up to or exceeded their contracts so far. While I sometimes question Beane's drafting acumen (and there's no need to get into that in this thread), I will never question his usage of free agency. He has hits and misses, like everyone, but I think he's incredibly shrewd in the way he uses free agency. I think he uses it exactly as it should be used, and strikes a nice balance. He doesn't just sit around and do nothing (like the Packers most years), but he also doesn't take the bait on the big ticket guys (Von Miller being the noted exception). He plugs holes, gives fair deals, and generally sets the Bills up well for the draft. There's a reason that he ranked 1st in the MTMS (Moves That Make Sense) index for a few years running.
