DaQuan Jones is a big part of our defensive success

Oliver is getting a lot of accolades, our linebackers and ends get some well deserved praise but it seems Jones goes a little under the radar.

He makes constant penetration and occupies a lot of double teams.

Focus on his play and he seems to be a real force.

it seems when he is out we are much more vulnerable to the run.

I respect his efforts.

Jones has been very good, but what I like about Eddie is the fire and urgency he’s playing with. It’s infectious and the defense is playing downhill.

Hope he has got one more year after this one  left in him at least …

I watched Poona last week

And he was getting doubled nearly every one of his snaps

Jones has been exactly what McD wants so his LBs can play clean, Settle and Ford help maintain that while Oliver and Phillips are the penetrating types

This is a pretty darned good rotation in the middle right now. Lets enjoy !

Ps Thats what i watch during games , the trenches. Love it

not really, from what i remember

Star was supposed to be Ted Washington

Jones is a little closer to Sam Adams.  (different body though, obviously)

Star was here to mentor and hold the line. temporary.
He did draw the double teams team though and played the correct gap.

I might suggest referring to the Edmunds thread at this pint as to was he was not as recognized for doing his job as well as some might have hoped

like the analogy maddenboy

Those were the Days !

He played great all last year too. I think something (hopefully) seems unleashed in our DL this year. Whether it’s McD, slight schematic adjustments, more in synch, or whatever: they just seem to be taking it to another level

I think it's McDermott's work as DC.  Gone is Frazier's passive D that relied on Edmunds' size and speed to limit the damage, and waiting for bad opposing offenses to screw up.  McDermott is attacking, and other teams haven't figured out how to respond.  McD was an excellent DC in Carolina, and I suspect he was frustrated during Frazier's tenure.  And he finally took action, easing Frazier out in the nicest way possible.
