Bills' ticket prices soar as new season fast approaches

My brother has season tickets in the club section and he just sold his home opener tickets for almost $1100 each! He went to both playoff games the last 2 years but has said this year he plans on selling any playoff game tickets so he’s REALLY hoping for a home AFC championship game

I bought tickets for 6 games (4 home, 2 road) shortly after they went on sale to the public in May

Nearly all of them have doubled in price since then.  I can't remember that ever happening, but it's certainly indicative of demand to see the Bills this year, wherever they're playing.

If they get home field advantage this year, playoff tickets are going to be insane.  I might venture $1000 minimum for the AFC championship

Supply and demand. Everyone knew this was gonna happen once we got better

My buddy and I would love to go to Columbus for the 9/3 game between my Bucks and His Domers. But neither of us are going to drop a grand on tickets for that. That’s just how it goes.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — This fall hundreds of thousands of football fans will flock to Highmark Stadium, and with the Buffalo Bills flying high, ticket prices are soaring as well.

“There’s people who work so hard, and they want to take their children or grandchild to the very first game, and they can't go,” Renee Gardner said. “They can't afford it."

That is very sad.

But I can't help but ask. How are the citizens of Buffalo going to afford PSLS and the quadrupled price of season tickets when the new stadium opens ?

Hopefully the stadium won't be half empty filled with corporate executives

It's more of a case of Ticketmaster using the 'Springsteen price gouge', in my opinion..

Yeah, I don’t want to get into the “politics” of ticket prices, but I’ve seen a lot of weird things with pricing over the past year. The demand for Bills tickets is obviously high, as fans expect a title, but the pricing increase is in line with what we’re seeing in the world of ticketing.

The resale market in particular has gone to the model of asking astronomical prices, just hoping someone bites. I used to buy last minute tickets on the secondary market, now I’m seeing hundreds of unsold tickets with crazy asking prices minutes before events. Apparently they simply sell what they can, and take a loss on others, unwilling to drop the price in some cases. A natural supply and demand model should lower those prices as the event approaches, when a large quantity still exists.

This is what happens, when there is a Monopoly, in charge of ticket distribution.

'Artificial demand'.

It's not politics. It is simple Greed, in the name of corporate profit.

I agree, it’s not politics at all. I just pointed that out because there’s always one person who feels the need to lecture others on capitalism. I understand capitalism, but I also understand a scam. The ticketing world has becoming quite the scam. Ultimately it’s simple enough for me. I’ll go to events that I consider priced fairly, and just skip anything that seems absurd.

I think there is an abundance of fans who can afford it; as well as an abundance of fans who would have no problem using HELOC or credit cards to scratch the itch.

Personally, I'm not in either category.

Agree, this board likes trying to determine which demographic will pay these prices, but I think you’re spot on. It’s simply people who are willing to pay the price. Some of them will have the income, others won’t, but it’s a matter of being willing to spend a ton. Vacation resorts are full of people who don’t actually have the money to be there. I’m sure a football stadium might be no different. I’m with you, not in either category, it is what is. There’s still plenty of great events to attend at a decent cost.

I’m pretty sure @IronMaidenBills could tell you a thing or two about how this situation is handled in far off places.

You and @Gugny have wandered into that gray area between cozy and kinky.

…..but who am I to judge?  🤷‍♂️

I’m not much of a kinky guy.  Gerbils are too big.

Vaccine requirement and the closed border tanked last year's resale market.  The return to normal access, expectations and the backloaded home schedule boost demand for the early season home games.  Market forces create the extreme jump.
