No USFL betting in NYS yet

I was hoping to get to knowthe USFL & bet on some games, but legal betting in NYS is not taking bets on the USFL.  There are 15 states that will take it but I'm not going to NJ or southeast Connecticut to bet on these games.  I guess I'll have to wait for the NFL season.

I bet the league won't last 3 years.

If the league lasts 3 years it will have made it. Don't forget this version of spring football was created by Fox and NBC sports. The last couple attempts were leagues with their hands out to TV networks. Totally different dynamic. Then throw gambling revenue on top of that?

It won't change the fact that the quality of play won't be as good. All of the top players coming out of college will go to the NFL for the money. The USFL and XFL will get the players who weren't good enough for the NFL.

Most college players can't make a USFL roster either, but we still watch college football.

I would worry about the integrity of games played by players who aren't paid much.

I hope it works out. I would love more football plus it would make the NFL's offseason go by faster if we get a successful football league in the spring. Just going off of history the only football that is popular is the NFL and CFB. Even the NFL Europe league couldn't make it.

And your point is? Any league that isn't the NFL is going to be inferior. But it will still be better than college. And there is a some demand for spring football. The XFL's ratings showed that last time, placing at least one game in the top 10 sports ratings each week. And what's wrong with having a second chance league? The NFL can't have one because they don't need/want to additional liability.

BINGO.

NFL Europe did quite well with attendance and viewership. It just got too expensive to run a league overseas and it exposed the league to further liability for CTE.

If I could bet I'd bet Tampa Bay to cover.  Their QB is a proven minor league QB, leading St Louis in the XFL.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordan_Ta'amu

Gaze upon......

New Jersey Generals

Head coach: Mike Riley went 14-34 over three seasons as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers from 1999-2001. He had two separate stints as head coach of Oregon State, going 93-80. He was also the head coach at Nebraska from 2015-17. He was a head coach in the AAF and offensive coordinator in the XFL.

Quarterback: Ben Holmes' college career included stops at Nassau Community College and Tarleton State. He led Tartleton State to the Lone Star Conference Championship and finished with a 23-2 record as a starter.

This will be funny to watch for a while...then it will join the other "spring football leagues" in the hopper

I expect Luis Perez to be their QB. Depending on when this was written, it may have been before Perez's late signing. Edit: Holmes isn't listed on their current roster.  Perez is the starting QB.

Great point. He was the 2nd best XFL QB behind PJ Walker of Houston.
