Geno Atkins and Richard Sherman are a couple of names that could help the Bills’ D

Impending FA Richard Sherman would be a great addition to the Bills’ secondary and Geno Atkins should be available for next to nothing. Although Atkins is a bit long in the tooth he’s a former All Pro that I believe that still has a little left in the tank. I think he’s more of a victim of circumstance more than anything else. Being under a rather new regime and signing a massive contract extension back in 2018 I believe he’s caught in a numbers’ game more than anything else. McDermott likes aged veterans in his defense and a re-energized Atkins could be a nice little defensive find in a salary cap strapped year.

I wonder what Refrigerator Perry and Daryl Green are up to these days? Maybe kick the ole tires?

I hear Conrad Dobler has some free time. 😀. Tipster, you knew you were going to get a little ribbing for that one, but hey it’s all in fun.  I think those guys are past their prime, which you acknowledged, and not crazy about Sherman’s comments over the years.  He’s an articulate bright guy, but he wouldn’t fit into this culture.

No! On Sherman ..... non-process guy, best days way behind him. He would be Josh Norman 2.0

Atkins, forgot he was still in the league .... for a low-end no risk contract, sure. If he makes it, great! If not, "you've had a nice career, enjoy your next life."

Both been great players but both looked done to me last year. Pass on both.

That’s my concern. On paper it sounds great but it makes me wonder how much they have left and whether we could fit them under the cap.  I don’t get the impression they’ll take the veteran minimum contract

Sherman’s price might be a little much and after watching what Josh did to him and the Niners secondary he might be done but I didn’t watch Atkins much a one year deal trying to get a ring might light a fire under the guy must be tough playing in Cincy where you get the mindset that your team is going to be terrible must be tough on a player

Atkins was injured all year - but 2 years ago he had 10 sacks.  He's also traditionally had good tackle numbers.  And he played in 16 games in 6 consecutive years before this one (not injury prone).  I don't know the extent of the shoulder injury or anything, but i doubt his explosiveness was sapped in 1 season.  This would have to be dependent on his price.

Suh got 1yr 8 million with escalators, after 1yr 9.25 and only 2 sacks.  In this lowered cap season - Jefferson and butler wouldn't get the 7-8mil per year that they got... so i guess it depends the direction they want to go with the position.  I think Atkins will get scooped up rather early by a team who wants a vet on the line but thats just me.  Part of me thinks he would be a great player to split snaps with oliver, but it would come down to price.

I'd be OK with Atkins for a year, although if we're going to go after a vet with a year or two left I'd take Watt first.  Sherman is a no for me.  We don't need an aged CB; we need more speed there and I want to see Jackson get his chance.

I always liked sherman the player though.  He's smart, has good instincts.  He's a perfect fit for this zone defense.  I know we are living on the loss to KC and this whole need for speed - but we do have to actually get back to the championship game again.  I do think he'd help there.

Agreed but he seems to be interested in Vegas and I don’t blame him.
