The amount of anger and bitterness towards Watson instead of McNair in this thread is really strange.

You're missing the real point. Whenever you read someone criticizing Deshaun just hit the translate button and read the intent behind it "this sucks, we finally have the best QB in the division with little competition, I don't want someone that's as good as Josh or better playing us 2x a year."

I don't care about Deshaun Watson, his politics or his feelings either way. I would like him to sign somewhere other than the AFC East. If he signs here, I will hate him as I have hated many others. That is all.

Watson is going where Watson wants to go.

Name all the hypotheticals you want.  It doesn't matter.  If it isn't Miami it's not happening.

The only solution I can MAYBE see Watson accepting would be Arizona.

AZ would have to trade Murray.

Houston gets a QB at least the fans could be happy and somewhat excited about bc Tua ain't it.  Jimmy G ain't it.  Darnold ain't it.

Arizona upgrades QB and reunites Hopkins with him.  They'd be idiots to not do this.

Both guys traded out of conference.

This is the only plausible alternative to Miami.

That's it.

You're close, but I'm not sure it's only that. It's nice you're giving folks that much benefit of the doubt though.

Then he's not going anywhere.

While I mainly side with Watson, this is a good and true point.

I looked up when he signed his new deal, and it was WELL AFTER they traded Hopkins away. So he should have known at that point. But I am still giving him some benefit of the doubt that he really was trying to be a good, loyal employee and team mate, and probably thought that if he signed it would help bring some stability to the organization. Which normally it should and would, but now he sees how truly incompetent McNair is, and things have changed. Things change, and not always for the better. None of us would want to work for such an employer.

And the fact that he will get to keep the signing bonus he just got had nothing to do with it.

I'd let him rot on the bench and not trade him, too bad

I’m inclined to agree, but I haven’t read the whole thread. If he refuses to report, can mgmt sue him to recover bonus $ already paid?

Ehh, see above. Cant fault him for trying to help right the ship. Remember, the Hopkins trade was bad, but things got even worse well after that. Watt and players trying to fight BOB in practice didnt happen until after Watson's deal was signed.

Whaaaat?  I mean, say more about this?

If Watson wants out, someone didn’t give Culley the message.   That guy seems pretty convinced Deshaun is going to be his QB.

Linky?

Next time you have a beer with him, ask him if he has room for any more friends.  I’d love to be his friend too

I’m really confused as to why everyone says Watson has all the leverage.

He’s under contract.  If he doesn’t play, he doesn’t get paid.

His signing bonus would be in jeopardy I assume?  What does it mean when his contract states “73 million guaranteed at signing”.  Did he get paid 73 mill already and maybe have to pay it back?
