Ekeler Practicing

I was really hoping we wouldn't have to deal with him this week and just have to focus on stopping their passing game.  Having Ekeler in their line up is another added head-ache for our run challenged D..  This feels like the toughest 3-7 team we have ever had to play (at least in recent memory)

It would be nice to have Milano out there to cover him out of the backfield. He doesn't really scare me as a runner, but the receiving threat is real and I've seen enough of Klein "in coverage" for what it's worth.

“Klein in coverage” sounds like one of those depressing 10-minute black and white “short movies” that are nominated for Oscars.

I agree the idea of Ekeler in the passing game is worrisome.  I remember the last time the Chargers came into town... and our old friend Anthony Lynn took advantage of a similar matchup with in Melvin Gordon and a rookie Trumaine Edmonds...   I hope I'm absolutely wrong and I am just a victim of deep scars from the drought, but I'm genuinely concerned that this game is going to be very tough one to pull out.

I get what you're saying.

Not saying he won't play but do you think he'll be game ready since he's missed five games (I believe)?

I don’t know - I would imagine they’d be cautious and he will be limited this week and will make a decision on Friday, either way I think they will ease him back in and he won’t get a ton of snaps.

If he does play, your thoughts about him being on a snap count would be ideal.

Thanks for the back and forth, bro!

No matter, we need to beat their best...every week.

I’ve never seen a fan base more scared of inferior teams in my life than ours is.

Lets not forget the last time we took our home field we beat the Seahawks by 10.

I do appreciate all the commentary around that if we are 'good' team then we should beat the Chargers and there is absolutely a lot of truth to that statement.  With that said, but, the NFL is a 'match up' league, and, my thoughts are that for a 3-7 Team like the Chargers, they actually match up well against us as opposed to your 'typical' 3-7 team. (Conversely we matched up well against the Seahawks - ie:  their starting RB's were injured, their pass D was historically bad, which plays into our strength)

Again, I hope I'm wrong, and without looking at the numbers during the McDermott era, it feels like we typically beat teams we are supposed to beat (inferior records/talent, only the Cleveland game from 2019, and NYJ game from 2017 come to mind.)  But I have to say 'scared' is a strong word.. I'd rather say that there is genuine reason to be concerned (semantics I get it) that the Chargers will be a tough win and we shouldn't take it for granted...

Come on what does Coach say...  'Humble and Hungry'.....

Even if he does play, he's just icing for a LAC team with a lot of weapons.  McD has to make sure the game plan does not involve taking the foot off the brake at any point.  I know he said that the run game will be the focus over the bye but I think this is a game they're going to win by letting Allen pass 45 times.
