The End of the Lamar Jackson Era

But Lamar is not just another running Quarterback. It was my point in this thread and it remains my point to this day. Comparing him to Kaepernick or Tyrod or Tim Tebow or whoever else is asinine. The only guy who is close to comparable as an athlete at the Quarterback position is Michael Vick who before the age of 32 went 58-37 as an NFL starting Quarterback and that was missing two prime years through suspension. It was also in an era where NFL teams tried to force guys like Vick to fit into the prototype in a way Baltimore is not forcing on Lamar.

I accept there is likely a ceiling with Lamar Jackson's style of play. I didn't want him here in Buffalo but if people think he is just gonna get figured out and disappear some time soon cos that is what happened to Kaepernick they are barking up entirely the wrong tree. This kid is one of the best athletes to ever play in the NFL and even this year when everything he can do was surely on tape he ran for 1,000 yards and 7 scores, threw 26 passes to 9 picks and helped his team win 11 games.

He might not last the way Brady or Brees have... but for the next 7 or 8 years? Yea, he is gonna be a problem for teams to defend.

This.  Thanks for saving me the time.

I've said since the beginning of the year that I'm not buying the Lamar Jackson hype, and I'm not buying the Kyler Murray hype, either.   I know they are really special athletes, and they're a couple

Say it with me..."We don't have to tear down Lamar, to prop Josh up".   Lamar is a phenomenal player and deserves his place at the "elite of the elite" table. Josh is well on his way to earn

Eh. I would be pissed if JA had a clunker and the rest of the league said, see! I told you he wasn't any good! I don't think we should do the same to LJ.    Tonight seemed as much about LJ h

For several reasons:

1. Reid was his coach

2. His passes were significantly more accurate in Reid's system

3. He didn't play for a couple of years

In other words you can't compare them unless you want to sit Jackson for 2 years and hope he makes it to 30 and Vick was out for most of the season when he was younger from injury.

And you also can’t compare Lamar Jackson to any other running qb not named Michael Vick.  Not one of them could run like them. They are on another level as a runner.

This has to be the dumbest thread ever created in this forum

someone plz delete this garbage

Perfect cancel culture. Don't like another opinion, delete it. How about not agreeing and moving on and not decide what others can read or think.

Agreed that Lamar is a better runner and on another level, but all runners have short shelf lives, especially thinner guys. Even Vick wasn't as great of a runner when he returned.

Stamina, speed, and being worn down is a reality you can't avoid with age.

My point is he's generational in what he's able to do, but the human body can take only so much punishment unless you are equated his athleticism to bodily integrity. He won't be able to do what he's doing at 30 sustainably. No one has and no one could.

It's made a lot of people look really bad...

it serves its purpose IMO

too often QBs get too much credit for success.

look at Tua.  The Fins almost made the playoffs BUT it was because of Fitz and not Tua. Yet people are crediting him and not Fitz.

Trent Dilfer won a super bowl YET he’s not an elite HOF caliber QB. He had a good team with him.

All of them: Vick, Cunningham, Kaep, Young and every other name. Name me one that lasted long as a runner. Name me a RB who last 8 years over 1,000 yards and you'll find only a handful and he's not built like Emmitt or Barry. If RBs struggle to do it, and only a few have and that's their only job, I highly doubt a more slender QB can last.

He already has worse stats than last year in every category.

There you go https://sportsfinda.com/top-10-running-quarterbacks-in-nfl-history/

Most running QBs don’t last because they suck.  The good running QBs last because they’re good

Kaep didn’t last because he sucked

young didnt last because he sucked

Cunningham played like 15+ years and had his best season in his 13th year
