Huge props to Beane for upgrading the o-line so well in just one offseason. We just shipped off two starting o-linemen from last year that were going to get cut.

Im not sure what side of the commentary I’m on here. Is it a sadder commentary about last year’s OL that two of the starters were gonna be cut or is it a happier commentary on the quality of players Beane brought in to replace them?

I choose to believe the latter.

Because it's okay to overpay for some guys. Yes. And he brings a lot of intangibles. And since when is 12 games a fraction of a season, unless you consider 3/4ths to be a fraction (and don't say "it's a fraction" and look stupid. ;)

They would need him to be great in all 16 games, because this isn't close to the Offense he was snapping to in KC.

The Chiefs concluded he wasn't a significant enough piece of their insanely successful Offense to keep.

Relax dude.

Its just football. In my opinion, there is nothing impressive about the trade. Nothing at all. Sorry those comments clearly get you upset.

So, it would have been just as impressive to simply cut Bodine and get nothing in return?

If the elements of this trade were reversed, you’d be praising Belichick and ripping on Beane.

So players have to be "great in all 16 games" now to be worth their money? There are approximately zero players who are great in all 16 games including Aaron Donald and Brady and anyone else you can name. Keep digging a deeper hole, it's the one thing you are good at. ;)

Is NFL.com talking about the same Bodine?

Quote

Bodine has been a solid to average center through his career, but has vast starter experience. As NFL Network's Mike Giardi recently chronicled, players like Bodine have excelled once in New England thanks to legendary offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia.

Do you think Beane has said to anyone "let's pay him whatever he wants.  Even if we get 12 games out of him and they are pretty good games, who cares?"

Pretty obvi that there are some posters here that would praise anything anyone else does rather than even try to see the positives in any moves the Bills make ??‍♂️

I guess I am confused, if he was cut and he was a FA and could sign anywhere, he would sign with the Pats ofc if they called his agent, who wouldn't?

would you change that horrible AV picture please

Except it wasn't.

Look, if he goes out this year with another concussion, no one on this board will be standing up for the deal.

He came back in December.  They went 4-3 from there on.

You are completely missing the point......

Mitch Morse was one of the TOP centers on the market available.....your gonna eat Bean's lunch because he went out and aggressively persued him?   If you want to look like an ass ok

but

Beane did not stop there.....he brought in THREE center/guard combonation players that can also effectly play center.  He doubled down on his efforts to fix a position.

If Mitch works out....great for us....if he gets hurt....we are covered.

Beane's job is to improve the talent of the team....he has done that.   Be made last year's starting center expendable.

Beans certainly has improved the O-line talent.

But you bring up the point that he likely could have covered the C position without taking the risk on Morse.  So I agree with you there.

KC made their last year's starting Center expendable too.  Who's their C?

Why not take both sides? There's nothing wrong with that. Last year's linemen pickups were patchwork players who could at the minimum hold the fort for the short term until the OL could be more substantively addressed when the franchise was going to be in a better cap situation the following year. These mediocre players were part of a flimsy unit. The next year a number of these bargain basement players were weeded out. The players who were brought in were much better and costly. The plan worked out as intended.

The bottom line is that for the Bills and Patriots this was a marginal deal. Too many people are trying to overinterpret what transpired. None of the trading partners gained an advantage over the other. A marginal transaction is a marginal transaction.
