Bodine traded to the Patriots for a 6th round pick

Don't get too excited, watch him now become a Pro Bowler with the Pats.....

And not to be a total/complete buzz kill, for those amazed at Beane and his sorcery, he was the one who thought high enough of these guys to bring them here in the first place. It's nice to see that he is getting something for them before the would be cut.

Im not going to sit here and praise Beane for getting a 6th round pick for someone he thought could hold his own for the team a year ago.

Nah.  We'd never expect you too...

Yes....praise him because he fortified the position the following year to the point where he could get rid of Bodine (and his salary) for a draft pick for a player they likely were going to cut.

but you already know that

Maybe he was more of "cream of the crap" than anything else.

not disagreeing with you but maybe we focus the praise on the fact he collected draft capital for someone they were going to cut, however minimal we make that it's still something for nothing.

Come now Scott, why do you wish to live in the past?  Bodine was a reach to fill Wood after he retired.

It didn't work and they moved on.  The backup Center this year is better than Bodine.

Getting a 6th for him vs. a cut is a good thing not a bad one.  Why don't you just say so?

Well, Bodine will outplay Morse now, book it.

their current center went from UDFA rookie to starter in the same year and held it; i mean how do you get that lucky considering what other teams have to go through to find proper talent.

there's something in the scheme (i know i'm not shocking anyone with that statement); it operates at a high level and fits all talent levels.

Beans needs to hit the jackpot on Morse, a guy who hasn't played a full season since 2016 and is now the highest paid C in the NFL.

There are two ways of looking at things in life: Glass half full and glass half empty.

A "glass half empty" person says "pffft. 6th round pick. Who cares?"

A "glass half full" person sees that the player was going to get cut anyway, so the Bills just got a free draft pick.

You are always, always, ALWAYS a "glass half empty" person when it comes to the Bills. That's fine. That's your prerogative. It just gets grating after a while. It must be a real bummer of a way to go through life.

Not really. It's okay to overpay for some players. I would much rather pay a 20m player 30m than a 8m player 5m, especially OC for a young raw QB.

It probably would have made him happier if we just gave Bodine to them for free.  "Nah...we don't need anything for him.  We were going to cut him anyway...just take him."

He's one concussion away from an injury buy-out.

Recall that in 2017, he went out twice after injuring then re-injuring the same foot.  Last year the concussions.  This off-season--straight to the concussion protocol.

KC let him go because they didn't see the value against the risk.

That wasn't the point. You said they needed to hit the jackpot with him and that is just not true.

Time will tell if the Morse signing was good or not.

This thread is about Bodine (who was backup C at best) being upgraded to the point that 2 others have played better.

The Beane getting a 6th for what in essence was the Bills 4th Center.

It's a good thing but you go ahead a spin it however you like.
