Like last year, the Spring Season of movies ends early as the Summer Season gets an early start at the end of April. Superheroes are everywhere this month, and not much else. Once again, Disney & Marvel have everyone's attention. Last year a milestone was reached in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this year looks to conclude, to a degree, what they started just over 10 years ago.

Disney & Mavel present, "Avengers: Endgame". After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper & Josh Brolin. Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo.

Warner Bros. & DC continue expanding their universe, as Zachary Levi stars as, "Shazam!". We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word - SHAZAM. - this streetwise fourteen-year-old foster kid can turn into the grown-up superhero Shazam. Also starring Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody & Djimon Honsou.

Lions Gate presents, "Hellboy". Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. Starring David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, & Ian McShane.

Parampunt presents, "Pet Sematary". Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. Starring Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz & John Lithgow.

In the animated "Mr. Link", Mr. Link recruits explorer Sir Lionel Frost to help find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, this trio of explorers travel the world to help their new friend. Starring the voices of Hugh Jackman, Stephen Fry, David Walliams, Zach Galifianakis, Timothy Olyphant & Zoe Saldana.

In "The Best of Enemies", Civil rights activist Ann Atwater faces off against C.P. Ellis, Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan, in 1971 Durham, North Carolina over the issue of school integration. Starring Taraji P. Henson & Sam Rockwell.

In "The Curse of La Llorana", Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Starring Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez & Raymond Cruz.

In "Breakthrough", When her 14-year-old son drowns in a lake, a faithful mother prays for him to come back from the brink of death and be healed. Starring Chrissy Metz, Topher Grace, Josh Lucas, Marcel Ruiz & Dennis Haysbert.

In "Penguins", The story of Steve, an Adélie penguin, on a quest to find a life partner and start a family. When Steve meets with Wuzzo the emperor penguin they become friends. But nothing comes easy in the icy Antarctic.

In "After", A young woman falls for a guy with a dark secret and the two embark on a rocky relationship. Based on the novel by Anna Todd. Starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Josephine Langford, Selma Blair, Meadow Williams, Jennifer Beals & Peter Gallagher.

Finally, in "Little", A woman is transformed into her younger self at a point in her life when the pressures of adulthood become too much to bear. Starring Regina Hall, Issa Rae, Marsai Martin & Justin Hartley.

Ok, so I had zero interest in Shazam! until I was forced to watch a Shazam! commercial every five minutes during the AAF games. I also spent a boatload of cash at the at Home store last time we were in Rochester because again,  constant commercials during the AAF games... but I digress.

I dragged hubby to see Shazam! opening day and loved it! It was such a fun movie. Mark Strong as a villain,  Zachary Levi doing more than singing (Tangeled was on the other day),  and it all worked because Jack Grazer had great chemistry with both Asher Angel and Zachary Levi.

DC has had two good ones the last few years, first WW, now this. I cannot wait for the sequel.

I will watch Hellboy when it comes to video.

I already have opening weekend plans for Endgame with my son. I'd have waited, but he wants to see it before he cannot avoid spoilers, and his girlfriend is working (or so she claims - she was probably just quicker to figure out how to avoid seeing it).

"Universe is in ruins" isn't something I expected to hear until Trump was reelected...

I was going to say there's no way in hell that I'd be caught dead at that movie...but then I had second thoughts.

So...what's it worth to you all for me to torture myself with two hours of ice rat footage?  C'mon, TBD...pool your money, make me an offer.

I'm in, $5 towards your ticket and/or popcorn.

I really enjoyed "Shazam!".  Such a fun movie.

I've been waiting to hear anything about that one before making a decision.  So we're up to two positive responses in this thread.  At this point, I probably won't see it in theaters, if it's even still there in two weeks, but I'm definitely curious.  I really hope DC can keep their positive trend going, because I'm far more familiar with their stuff.

Who clamored for a Hellboy redo?  Was it a favor to somebody?  The del Toro Hellboy movies were well done with pretty good actors and they weren't big hits.

Per Wiki (sounds like a cluster-f from the start):

In 2014, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola began work with writer Andrew Cosby on the story for a new film. The project was initially intended as a sequel to Guillermo del Toro's films Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, which starred Ron Perlman as the title character. Del Toro was offered a producer credit, but declined, wishing instead to direct his own script for Hellboy III, and Perlman refused to return without del Toro's involvement. When Neil Marshall joined, it was decided that the new film would instead be a reboot.[17]

Just like last year, I will have to choose Avengers opening night over the 1st day of the draft.

Best news for me though is that John Wick 3 tickets for next month just went on sale the other day.

Yes.  Somebody should have stepped in and stopped that disaster.  I don't think Hellboy was mentioned once in *our* sequels we'd like to see list.

You know, the authoritative list Hollywood should be constantly F5ing.  ?

I’m watching the draft and then heading to the movie.

Simple.

Simple.

I would do that if I was on the West Coast, but I don’t want to be spoiled by people leaving the earlier showing.

Isn't Breakthrough little more than a Christianity propaganda film?  I mean, that's what the trailer looked like when I was at the movies recently.

No thanks.

What's most interesting about that movie is that it's being distributed by 20th Century Fox & Disney, and that Pure Flix has no ties to it at all.

The reviews have been terrible - anyone see Hellboy?

Last hour of Endgame was great, but I thought many things were a little convoluted. Going to see it again before my final verdict is in.

Same.  There were a plot hole or two that were obvious but other than that I thought they did a great job.

Saw Endgame. I do not want to spoil anything for anyone (next week I may have a few questions), but right now my only comment is: of the total 3 hours, 2 minutes of run time,  the first 3 hours were ok (meh for most of it as I felt like I was enduring something, not enjoying a movie), the last 2 minutes!? AMAZING!!! That made all things right for me as he was by far my favorite character.

And now I am done with Marvel being a "must see" except for GoTG and Dr. Strange.

I just saw Endgame again with a more open mind and a little better understanding of some of the things that happened during this first 2 hours. Loved it all this time, it’s right up there at the top of the MCU.

Avengers Endgame feels like the end. There really isn't any motivation to see anymore after this movie. It was a satisfying movie, hitting many of the points we wanted resolved.

It will be interesting if the next phase of movies will be able to draw back audiences. Especially if they get an SJW re-focus. A-Force could turn into a Ghostbusters disaster if they go down that path.

LeSean tweeting spoilers about Endgame is pretty much the douchiest thing anyone could do...so of course he did it and STILL hasn't taken them down...surprised there isn't a thread about this.

Lesean has never been a role model. Let's not forget the guy was being investigated last year.

It's impossible to avoid spoilers for this movie if you're on the internet. Many sites will warn you about containing spoilers, but then post a picture from the movie in the thumbnail. If you stay on the inter-webs, the best you could hope for is to only get un-important spoilers, like who makes a cameo in the movie.

So you’re saying you’re not a fan of the feminism pushed down our throats there at the end? ?

Endgame was ok.  It was probably a good movie on it's own, but it was next to impossible to follow-up Infinity War.  Avoiding any spoilers, here's what really sticks out to me:

1. One major suprise

2. I absolutely hated what they did with one character.  His reaction makes sense, but they took it too far.

3. The rules they established for the main plan in the movie really didn't make much sense, especially with what happened in previous movies.  I'm willing to accept it for the sake of the movie though.

Avengers Endgame was so well done that any Marvel movie that comes after it will surely disappoint. It's good that Guardians of the Galaxy got pushed back.

I don't think they missed a single main or secondary character in this movie.  They even had the kid from Iron Man 3 in it. The only one I can think of is Justin Hammer from Iron Man 2.

I have superhero movie fatigue.  I invested in Iron Man back in 2008 and saw most of the Marvel movies since, but I think I've had my fill.

I'd actually replace that with Infinity War.  Maybe it's something so simple as having the Empire Strikes Back approach where the bad guys win, but at least for me, that movie blows Endgame out of the water.

But did they bring back the original Captain Rhodes? How about the girl who was the youngest daughter on Growing Pains who had a crush on Captain America at the end of the 1st Avengers?  Also might have been tough to bring back the congressman that hated Tony (Gary Schandlings character?)

I'm going to see it tonight
