Beavis and Butthead

I agree with the videos being the funniest parts. The movie fell flat because its didn't have that.

My favorite was the Christmas episode where God shows Butthead what life would be like if he never existed and Beavis was with Stewart serving soup to the homeless.

I still have that VHS.   Butthead dressed as Santa, whipping Beavis (dress as a reindeer)......that always put me in the holiday spirit!!

Discovered beavis and butthead after doing a huge GB hit several years ago

changed my life tbh. I laughed hysterically when beavis got bitten by the dog and when they were standing in the middle of an intersection causing a huge car pile up lmfao. the court scenes are also great

Overall yes but not to us who know of him. Loved Office Space as well

I remember him more for Office Space than Beavis and Butthead as time has gone on.  Office Space was a gem.  Funny, full of quotes you still here people drop today, memorable characters.

I'm glad they never attempted a sequel.

I totally disagree.

The videos were fun, but to me they were more intended to take up time and provide a few snicker-worthy moments between animated scenes.

The movie will always be an all-time classic to me; it was like one long episode without the videos (which were my least favorite part).

Christmas special was outstanding, but I think my favorite was the episode where B&B weren't allowed to laugh in school, so Buzzcut decided that it would be a good week to teach sex ed.  He's all up in their faces screaming sex terms and body parts.

The show actually came back for a few episodes some years ago, I think 2011.  The reviews on Jersey Shore were funny

I kept waiting for them to come back with a second season, but then it never happened.  I don't remember the episodes specifically, but it couldn't have been any worse than the typical MTV garbage.  Replacing the videos with all of those crappy MTV shows worked pretty well.  My personal favorite was when they were watching Teen Mom.  Out of nowhere, Beavis said easily the smartest thing he's ever said about one of those girls, "you're not just a bad mother, you're a bad person".  I had to pause it after that line because I couldn't stop laughing.

what was the cost of that?

I was really hoping this thread was going to be about it coming back again.  When it came back in 2011 or whatever, it was just as good as ever.  Maybe better - because of them now mocking out these idots on reality TV shows.

And, then it just dropped off the Earth.  My guess is Mike Judge had to spend too much time on Silicon Valley.  That is OK.  But, B&B was absolutely the best!

I'd argue that B&B is the 2nd-best animated show...behind...

I called it as soon as they were brought back that the comeback would be brief and wouldn't make it to a second season.  As I mentioned in my post earlier, that show was around at the perfect time in it's heyday.  Things are just so different nowadays I knew it wouldn't catch on to be a mainstream hit like it was in the 90's.

But were ratings the reason why it didn't continue?  My feeling was that Mike Judge was being pulled in too many directions.

Don’t you mean VHS?

I've got a lot of "Oz," (old HBO series) on VHS, as well as the last concert Jane's Addiction played in Hawaii before their first break-up.

Yeah ditto.  I thought the 2011 season was just as funny.  I just didn’t recognize any of the music they were goofing on!

I'm honestly not sure what the numbers were but I just remember there not being a very strong buzz about it when it came back, I just think way too much time had gone by and people had moved on to other things.  Just my opinion.

Wow that was 2011 when they came back?  I thought it was only 2-3 years ago.  It's crazy how fast time flies by these days!

Yeah 7 years ago.  Around this time of the year too as I remember it was right after the Bills beat the Patriots that year.  Two great things now that I think about it!

I was psyched about it when I knew it was returning.  I guess younger generations it didn't mean much too?  Like I said I didn't recognize any of the music they were making fun of anymore

Yeah that's crazy, the Bills-Patriots game feels like it's been 7 years ago but I'm finding it hard to believe the B&B reboot was that long ago but it's funny how your mind can play tricks on you.

Yeah I was excited for it too, and I liked the episodes I caught but I didn't watch it religiously unfortunately because I just had too much going on at the time.  I think there's probably some truth to that about the younger generations.  Beavis and Butthead didn't really run in syndication much at all, and you have to think about all the cartoon shows still around or ones that came out after B&B The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park.  There is a whole generation out there that didn't grow up on Beavis and Butthead and the majority of people from our generation are busy raising families and working two jobs to make ends meat right now.  To me Beavis and Butthead is a classic case of you had to have experienced it in its heyday to really get it, so I can see why the younger generation didn't get hooked.

Judging by these reactions it might be a while before we ever encounter anything as deep and profound as watching these two teens.  Actually nothing has really taken its place since....

Sacastic with "deep & profound?"

If serious, it really isn't.  It's just "no-filter" TV.

I mean come on, B&B is in a lot of people but, people have to function in a sane society or get hauled off to jail.  There is no tolerance anymore unless You become President of the United States and have ultimate immunity.  Then it's okay to have no-filter.  But for the rest of the slobs, don't even channel the inner Beavis & Butthead like the Prez. does.  It's why He'll win another term.  Who doesn't love watching this sch *t...!

There’s been a lot of unpleasant Patriots games since so that could be the reason.  Last years games against them felt like the worst which is saying something.

Now that I think of those 2011 episodes what struck me was the commercials.  It seemed like 15 minutes of material and 15 minutes of commercials!  DVDs and stuff have become popular since 1997 when it first stopped
