He was not elite, but he was above average and consistent. Also he was an excellent blocker on plays he was not the schemed receiver in. He helped out the O-line and made them look better on running plays. And he spent a season playing injured and still was above average that year. He cleared the path for at least one of Gurley's TD's last week. And put up around 92 yards in receptions. Down from his previous week. He is exactly what the Bills could have used. I, don't buy the story he would only play in southern California. He was a good soldier in Buffalo. OBD treated him like a castoff. Never offered him anything. Everyone knew robert woods was good here, he left to be in so cal. Goodwin focused on the Olympics and getting injured while here. Watkins best days were here. And plenty of people were upset when we let Hogan walk. At one point the Bills had good wideouts yet fans still found problems with them. Woods(A blocker with a WR number), Hogan(just alacrosse player who would not make it on other teams), Watkins (Cant be healthy) and Goodwin (glass doll) were all together. This is how I see it A good QB can make WR's Good WR's can not make a QB Always fix the QB problem first, always. You have to start with QB. And while it is still too early to tell with Allen, the number one problem with the Bills offense right now is QB, not WR, not OL, not TE. The general lack of talent on offense is part of the problem too but the great QB's find ways to make the WR's available to them work. I agree with what you are saying but i do think that the money he got to go to LA was more than he was worth to us with our running focused game. But for the OP to say sammy got good after leaving is just stupid- he is on pace in a high flying offense to be worse than he was when he was healthy here. The argument was if he was worth the $$$. I would have liked to re-sign him, but I understood the move for him because he was getting paid and going back home. Goodwin was the epitome of Mr. Glass while he was here. You could see he was starting to develop as a WR in his final season, but they didn't want to commit the cash to a guy who was missing multiple games every season. I understood that too. For all of the crap many posters gave Watkins, I argued many times on his behalf. He was clearly the best WR we had and carried the potential to be our #1 if they targeted and schemed for him as such. If you look at his production in the instances where he was targeted like a #1 the evidence was there. In the end you can't complain about the return we got for him and he himself confessed that he wasn't being the consumate professional in the locker room. Hogan was a solid WR. He is like the white version of Woods.
