Picture/Photo Help

Recommended Posts

I need to take headshots of all of my staff to submit with paperwork.  The paperwork specifies that the photos need to be 1 7/8" W x 2" L.

I don't have a fancy camera; nor do I have (or know how to use) Photoshop.

The only tools I have at my disposal are an iPhone and Paint.

I was able to successfully change the size of a photo to fit those dimensions on screen.  I used 250 pixels x 261 pixels and the dimensions worked.  But when I try to print, it comes out much bigger than on screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hire a professional

I already reached out to a guy in our marketing department.  But I'd rather just do it myself, if possible.

There are better ways to do this, but you could add the photos to a Word document, resize them directly in Word and then print.

I often use PowerPoint rather than Word for simple graphic manipulation, but it’s the same general idea.

So does CVS.

The dimensions aren't the same as passport photos.

So far, the Word solution seems to be the easiest.  Now I just need to do it 50+ times!

Paint stinks. Try this free online photo editor - it lets you resize an image.

Unfortunately the dimensions are in pixels, not inches, so you'll need to do a conversion. Here's how:

Paint.net is pretty good, too, and I believe it sizes in inches.

You're over thinking this.

Instead of taking the photo five feet away from the person, take about twenty steps back. That will make their face smaller in the picture. Then print the photos out and use scissors to cut out to the perfect size.

Irfanview is another good free program.

Many printing programs by default will print to paper size not actual size.

You need to check settings in print usually print setup.

This is by far some of the best advice I’ve ever seen, ever.

Does Epson sell 1 7/8” x 2” paper?

Just when I finally thought you could actually be helpful, you go and be a Richard Cranium again.  Dick Head!!!!!!!!

lol.....no but it will print a 1 7/8" x 2" picture on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet!

At least that's how I've figured it out in the past.   Nothing worse than burning through $10 worth of toner by accidentally printing a full size color picture.
