Yeah, there's a few ways to balance it. Whether they want to preserve future picks or current picks depends on how they feel about the depth of the respective classes I suppose. I structured it assuming we wanted to keep our picks this year, to the extent possible.

I get that. I just hate the "bird in the hand" valuation, meaning having to give up next year's 1st for a value of this year's 2nd. Let's hope we can use the Panthers ties to get a softer trade up tax.

Trades into premium picks in drafts with premium players come at a higher price for the team moving up. Since 2011, trading into the top 2 for a QB has come at an average cost multiplier of 128%. Trading into the top 10 has had a multiplier closer to 109%. Since in this scenario we are trading to pick #2 for a QB, it is likely that our offer will need to be worth ~130% of that pick (93.83 * 130% = 121.98). 21, 22, 96, 2019 1st, and 2019 3rd have a total value of 122.36, which is why I suggested that it would be the cost.

thanks! Good to know

Darnold has a fatal flaw in his delivery and I will be interested to see his hand size measurement.  There is a rumor he has tiny baby hands and that's why he fumbles a lot.  That and his horrible delivery would be big red flags for me

I would be disgusted if the Bills basically gave up their draft this year and next. Even if Rosen is the best QB of the draft class, the Bills have too many other needs to fill to trade away that many picks.

Literally no one said that.  They have enough ammo to move up to get him, still have 2 day two picks and largely have their full draft intact next year.

This would be excellent. Unfortunately, I’ll be surprised if the Giants wanted to down that much. Heck, they might want Rosen just as much.

Person, IQ, and heart over pure, natural talent any day of the week.

I don't think Rosen has the heart or work ethic to succeed at the next level. Who wants a QB that whines about classes and football don't mix because it's too hard. lol. He complaining about workload? Who the hell wants a QB that complains about too much work?

Good luck with that...

I don’t think Darnold would need more time. I think Darnold would have been smarter to stay another year at USC, but he’s just as NFL ready as Rosen is. And he’s better.

No worries about Darnold's wind up and turnovers?

They aren’t trading the pick, aren’t taking Rosen, and I think it’s too high for Mayfield or Allen who i think they could get at 4

No chance they take Barkley at 1 and then a QB (Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen) at 4 if they like all 4 QBs?  If the Bills trade up to 2, and have their pick of any of the 4, who would they take?  Also, regarding another post you had about Trubisky.  Was it confirmed last year that the Bills tried to trade up for him, or were contemplating trading up for him?  I thought I read that somewhere.  Also, regarding another post you made about "these deals are already agreed upon" in some cases.  I wonder how many times these teams have a "deal in place" in Feb-Mar and then a better deal comes along.  Do you think these teams have integrity when it comes to these hand-shake deals?  Just trying to NOT get my hopes up.

Bills would be MUCH better served putting one of them at RT and having two bookend tackles. Mills has been their starter for far too long. He blows.

If they can get the number two pick without having to ship Glenn out it would be more ideal.

And trading from 7 to 2 will take more then Glenn and a 2019 2nd round pick. Your probably talking about Glenn and a 2019 first round pick, IMO.

I couldn't agree more. Glenn, if healthy is a premier LT and they aren't easy to come by. Him and dawkins would stabilize our line for the next few years until Dawkins needed to be paid. Id rather part with draft picks as they are unknown at this point

Browns passed up on Watson AND Wentz. If they don't draft a QB with their #1 overall pick, they'll need to just quit the league.

Do the folks constantly talking about the Bills have too many holes to fill to trade up for a QB fundamentally understand there’s a 2019 a 2020 draft and so on?!

I legitimately hear you guys, don’t get me wrong, just was having a little fun but I find it hard to believe that many teams feel they have every roster spot exactly where they want it heading into a season.

Clearly im team trade up!

They could probably draft Barkley at 1 and then trade up from #4 to get "their QB".

No RB is EVER worth the number 1 overall pick (unless you have back to back 1-2 picks). If they do this, they should quit the NFL.

HORRIBLE idea

Not saying it would be a great idea.  I'd take the QB too.  Just saying that if they wanted the best RB and possibly the best QB, they could get both.  Giants and Colts may go Barkley before the Browns pick at 4.
