MarlinTheMagician
Was really intrigued by idea of taking Mason Rudolph and James Washington back-to-back. May not have to move at all. You have a 6'5" QB and your X, Y and a new Z receiver. You give your QB his college security blanket. Sign a Bradford/Keenum type as a bridge and away you go. What do people think? 2

Chuck Wagon
I don't think you make your team better taking day 2 talent in round 1 just because they know each other.

BuffaloBillyG
Mason Rudolph is not a 1st round talent. He may be picked in the 1st but I believe he will end up more like a Ponder or Gabbert.

MarlinTheMagician
I asked what people thought. I don't watch a ton of college ball. Saw Rudolph play once or twice only, same with the others. I can't tell from that. What prompted the question is I have read a lot about Washington and like him. Opinions on Rudolph vary widely. At least a couple of scouting sites have him as the top QB in the draft. Others have the view expressed above - nothing special. I was hoping for insight rather than snark. I think he's a late 1st, early 2nd type guy. I like him and I'd be fine with him. I don't want Washington with a 1st round pick though. Give me one of the DT's (Payne, Vea, Settle, Phillips) or an ILB (Smith if he fell somehow, Evans, maybe Edmunds) instead.
The Now Moment
I would hate this. That's too high for Washington IMO and I am the biggest fan of Rudolph. Pass
Mark80
Rudolph reminds me of Mettenberger. Strong arm QB that was made to look a lot better than he actually is by having 2 high quality, NFL level WRs to throw to. But he is not NFL good himself. He will not amount to much in the NFL, book it.

RyanC883
I like pairing our 1st round QB with the TE from Oklahoma in the second. Great TE's can be a young QB's security blanket. I'd go QB at 21, then defense with 22 (or vice versa, really doesn't matter!)

BuffaloFan68
While I do want us to draft Rudolph in the first, I feel our second pick should be a LB or DT. Let's Go Bufflao!!!!!
John from Riverside
People should stop complaining about Mason going to us with a latter 1st round pick QBs get overdrafted....but you have to try
apuszczalowski
Well I saw a mock that had half of this predicted. They had Buffalo taking a CB first, then Washington 2nd. 4 of the top 6 picks were QBs with the only otherQB taken was by Arizona
BuffaloFan68
If we can get his buddy, Washington later in the draft I'd be all for it. I also like the RB Rashaad Panny as a mid-round pick. Kid runs angry & smart at the same time.

Richard Noggin
I like your thinking here, and I've seen it mentioned before. While I'm not so sure of the value Washington represents in the 1st, it is difficult to argue that 22 is too high for a highly productive 3-year starter at QB. Whether people like Rudolph as a prospect or not, QBs get overdrafted.
FearLess Price
If we cant get one of the top 3 QBs, Mason is the only other QB id be ok witn us drafting as long as we dont trade up for him. Still think Mayfield is the way to go here. Solid QB can start day one, only have to trade up to #5 Clutch trait, accurate, makes progressions, loves the game. Kid is gonna be the one. Mango
I was recently watching some stuff on Rudolph. Just some thoughts. He needs time. He is a bit more raw than I would like in a QB in the first. I don't know a ton about him as a person or work ethic. Missing some of the things EJ was coming out of college. He had a tremendous work ethic and wasn't able to over come his anticipation in regards to timing throws. If the staff loves him, grab him, and I will trust them. But I wouldn't just take him because I need a QB. It is guys like this that flame out with very QB needy teams. He needs some work. I am sure somebody will though. If he is there for us in the 2nd, by all means, run to the podium and take a flyer on the kid. Pros: -Good long ball. -Keeps his eyes down field when he has to scramble. -Has enough zip to fit the ball into tight spaces. -Can make all the throws -Athletic enough to be a runner at times. Cons: -Wonky mechanics at times -Doesn't throw with enough anticipation. Receivers do A LOT of coming back to the ball sometimes. -Doesn't look comfortable in a messy pocket. -His receivers are generally VERY OPEN. -Head movement/reads can look erratic. Also has a tendency to lock on.

I disagree, I think all they really have is depth WRs unless Zay improves, Benjamin and even Matthews are their next best and those guys are having trouble staying healthy. Depth WRs are all they have....
