Dareus, No Gilmore, Yes

You can have Dareus.  Not sure he even played 50% of the snaps.  He made a few flashy plays but was not consistently pushing the pocket.  And the guy is a headcase.  Even if he wasn't a headcase and gave consistent effort every play, I still don't think you give that kind of money to someone who isn't a dynamic pass rusher.

List of HC interviews in 2015 below. Almost all of them better than Rex. We already had one of the best defenses in the league and they hire a defensive coach??? Pick any of these offensive minded coaches and we are in the playoffs that year assuming we keep Schwartz as DC/Assistant HC. Choosing Rex set us back 3 yrs.

  • Darrell Bevell, offensive coordinator, Seattle (Saturday, 1/3)
  • Adam Gase, offensive coordinator, Denver (Saturday, 1/3)
  • Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator, Seattle (Saturday, 1/3)
  • Frank Reich, offensive coordinator, San Diego (Sunday, 1/4)
  • Mike Shanahan, head coach (fmr.), Washington (Sunday, 1/4)
  • Pat Shurmur, offensive coordinator, Philadelphia (Tuesday, 1/6)
  • Hue Jackson, offensive coordinator, Cincinnati (Wednesday, 1/7)
  • Rex Ryan, head coach (fmr.), New York Jets (Thursday, 1/8)
  • Kyle Shanahan, offensive coordinator, Cleveland (Thursday, 1/8)
  • Jim Schwartz, defensive coordinator, Buffalo (date N/A)

that's depressing.  Rex would have been my last choice then and certainly now.

I'm not concerned with it. It doesn't hurt my feelings that they made roster moves and trades to improve the team. I wasn't in the building and I don't have the intricate details behind every move.

I think at the very least they did all these moves to set themselves up to be successful in the future. They came in to power and thier vision of a winning team must not of matched and they started adjusting.

I don't know if every move made will turn out to be the right one. I just need to see more results before I really can listen to the opinion that the result was bad.

If the team starts becoming more competitive next year I won't even think about the cast offs. If we trend down then I'll find myself in agreement that the moves we're bad. That means we haven't found the answer at Head Coach and I'm not there yet.

I think people judge those moves to early. I think instead of hanging on to what could have you should allow yourself to have thoughts on what could be. I'm sorry I just think it's to early to judge.

So....

He probably didn’t play 50% of snaps, but if he did he only made a few flashy plays....

And even if he made some flashy plays, he doesn’t make enough isn’t consistent...

And even if he were consistently making plays, I wouldn’t pay him that much money....

Did i get it right, or would you like to move the goalposts again? That way no matter what happens you’re right and you can win the internet! ?

When they wanted to be.  Gilmore lacked focus and Dareus lacked heart.  But they were both very talented.

Gilmore's occasional lack of focus notwithstanding, he was easily a top-10 corner his entire career here.

Once he got through his initial transition phase in NE, he played like a top-10 corner again.

No one should be surprised

Well Gilmore was too expensive and Darby basically got us Kelvin Benjamin (JMatt is gone imo ) and also big part we got Gaines.

Ultimately we completely upgraded our secondary, unloaded a contract on a guy that was underperforming big time in 99. I'm a fan of the moves , we'll really see the benefits this off season.

Someone posted the Jags Offensive depth chart, but not the Defensive depth chart.

Since when does Dareus play on the O line.

There is no direct link to the defensive section of the defensive depth chart. If you click twice you can easily switch it to the defensive lineup, which show Dareus is the backup DT and backup NT.

You really want to keep a guy, you can figure out how to keep him. It seems the Pats always

win the AFC because they know who to keep and who to let go. Cap or no Cap.

There is a reason certain players on certain teams test the market.

Has Brady ever tested the market. No, because he knows with Coaching and Management

the Pats make the right decisions to be able to win.

Yeah letting Chandler Jones go was brilliant. NE has a lot of moves like this that nobody mentions because Brady and Bellichick cover up everything.  There will come a point in time when they won't then everyone will act like they are crazy for what they are doing.

Good CB’s are very hard to afford after their rookie deals as their second contracts are astronomical, so it wasn’t a wise move to resign Gilmore considering all the holes on the team.

Gilmore had a great game today and IMO made the play of his career with the PBU at the end of the fourth quarter.
