Tiberius
So this is a demonstratable example a person being influence by propaganda. A weak minded ignorant man listening to nonsense and acting on it as if it were truth. From politico ---------- Everyone has a theory about Trump’s hyper-aggressive early morning tweetstorms. Some think they are a deliberate ploy the president uses to distract the press from his administration’s potential weaknesses, or to frame the public debate to his liking. Others warn his rapid shifts from one topic to another indicate mental instability. But my many hours following the president’s tweets for Media Matters for America, the progressive media watchdog organization, have convinced me the truth is often much simpler: The president is just live-tweeting Fox, particularly the network’s Trump-loving morning show, Fox & Friends. It’s no secret, of course, that the president likes to tweet about what he sees on TV. Thanks to diligent reporting from the White House beat, we know Trump often watches several hours of cable news each day via the “Super TiVo” he had installed at the White House. And journalists at CNN, the_ Washington Post_, New York magazine, among others, have compiled lists of Trump tweets they believe were inspired by Fox. But here’s what is shocking: After comparing the president’s tweets to Fox coverage every day since October, I can tell you that the Fox-Trump feedback loop is happening far more often than you think. There is no strategy to Trump’s Twitter feed; he is not trying to distract the media. He is being distracted. He darts with quark-like speed from topic to topic in his tweets because that’s how cable news works. Here’s what’s also shocking: A man with unparalleled access to the world’s most powerful information-gathering machine, with an intelligence budget estimated at $73 billion last year, prefers to rely on conservative cable news hosts to understand current events.

It's not just CNN who doesn't want to talk about Vegas. The FBI, local cops, USIC, and pretty much every other media outlet (but for maybe Tucker Carlson) all want it to go away. Which should make everyone wonder what really happened that night. And if people go to the Deep State thread around that time you'll find a lot of hints about what really happened that night. Including who owned the top four floors of the hotel (and why that matters), who else was in (possibly) in Vegas that night (and why that matters). I'm leaning towards the opinion that Paddock was a gun runner for the USIC and the Saudis, and what happened that night was an operation gone VERY wrong. The connections to make this case are abundant.

We are told, every day, that those on the left or right have VASTLY different priorities. In terms of the right and left in office, they (for the most part) are just different wings on the same bird. I can’t find the quote now, but I think it was Camus who said something to the effect that politics is essentially the task of making moral issues which are really quite simple seem extremely complicated in order to divide people and make them feel confused and scared, to the advantage of those politicians who make lucrative careers out of professionally politicizing everything. (please forgive the clumsy paraphrasing) I mean, it’s not exactly a controversial idea. I think it’s well understood across the board. But it’s beneficial to say it out loud as often as possible… The vast majority of regular people of this world want reasonable things for themselves and their families. The hotheads and ideologues have forever been sucking all the oxygen out of the room. This phenomenon has always existed but has become significantly worse with the advent of the internet and social media and junk news for profit on a grand scale.

To make that point clear - the digital ink I've spilled on the Trump/Russia stuff has nothing to do with left or right, or even Trump. It's VERY EASY to paint the posts as that because they are clearly going against the mainstream talking points, but the reality is I'm politically agnostic. I care about what most people care about - but I also care about protecting the way this country is supposed to function. Not because I'm a republican or democrat or independent, but because I believe despite its flaws this country and our form of government is one of the greatest achievements in human history. The freedom and empowerment the constitution grants people is something to protect, not something to use as a wedge on partisan issues. We live in a different world now. One were we are being bombarded by multiple parties on social media and traditional media. Everyone is vying to distract us, divide us, keep us angry and fighting with one another rather than coming together on the things that unite us. The things that bond us. And then working together to fix what we can and move forward in a positive manner. I still have hope though. I think people are waking up to these games in droves. I think people are starting to ask REALLY good and important questions that haven't been asked before (at least asked by as many before).

I would qualify as liberal on most social issues (especially among those around here). However, I've been spending a lot of breath lately speaking with liberal minded people, trying to stick up for Freedom of Speech (that's the big one). I agree with many people on this forum that a lot of liberals have been overreacting and making fools of themselves. Some examples: - Don't be the person who sees a fan dressed as bacon and starts tweeting that it's blatant anti-Semitism. That's ridiculous. - When a pitcher in baseball gets his third strikeout of the game and fans are holding up three K's, that doesn't mean that there is a racist conspiracy happening through network broadcasts of major league baseball--it's just three strikeouts. That's ridiculous. - If you are a student or faculty member at a university, if someone is scheduled to speak that you don't like (or even find repulsive), it's not your duty as a citizen to prevent that, at all costs, from happening. Quite the opposite.

Nanker
I was driving and heard Trump speak from the Cabinet room where he’s corralled the House and Senate reps from both sides for preliminary talks on immigration. A lot of the participants on both sides spoke about what they want to see come out of this. At the end Trump said something to the effect that “maybe we should go back to using earmarks”. He said that was a time when people from both sides of the aisle would form real friendship, and go out to dinner together. There was comity then and not this bitterness and hateful divide that is so appalling. Thought it was an interesting observation.
