Chad Kelly: drafted by Denver

Viewed in isolation, must of this stuff is youthful stupidity and/or no big deal. It's the pattern of behavior that is the problem.

I think the kid probably is a punk, but I like his arm talent and I love his compete. I would be fine with drafting him (at a reasonable spot) if for no other reason than to push Cardale. Of course, the other consideration is that it would be oh-so-Billsy for us to pass on the kid and then have him play well for a rival.

Same thing holds true for Kizer. Flip his 2015 and 2016 seasons and he might have gone first overall.

Please Kizer wasn't good then either, Wentz should have gone number one

I definitely think Kelly would be worth drafting.

Bud unfortunately Whaley is our GM and I just don't see him taking him.

He'll probably draft some **** prospect QB instead...

Chad Kelly thread = Whaley sucks. Nice post

I hope we draft him in 5-7. I think he's a complete knucklehead kid, but I'd like to see what he evolves into as a man. Rolling the dice that he actually becomes a man..... but if he does, he'd be a fine QB imo. Love his arm talent and athletic ability. If Jim could take him under his wing and help with his development it could pay off big time. I could see him being drafted 1 pick ahead of us

Here's a list of things he's done in no particular order:

1) Kicked off HS team for threatening a teacher (hearsay)

2) The Bar incident with bouncers

3) Swearing at coaches in spring game at Clemson for punting on 4th and short

4) Running on the field at SJ's game to support his brother

5) Texting the backup at Clemson (Cole Stoudt?) that he was coming for his job and that he was #2 for a reason

6) Being at a poker party and using marijuana

7) Parking lot incident involving a fender bender, a teammate and threatening the other party.

8) Texting back and forth with a porn star.

9) Recorded a rap song about himself.

I really enjoyed watching him play at Ol' Miss. He is hyper competitve to a fault in the societal sense but it works fine on a football field. You do not do what he did against Alabama both times by being a coward or playing scared. I often think about what kind of additional trouble our beloved SB Bills would have gotten into in the age of hyper social media.

I see him as a better athlete than Jim but with a slighter build. Of all the bad behavior listed above, I think that #5 is the worst in the football/locker room sense. Is he a good teammate or does he act like a jerk there too? That and how coachable he is are the two questions I'd want answered before I used any draft choice on him. I suspect that he is not any worse of a human being than Jim was at that age and that he needs coaches that know how to coddle his ego.

The only thing I would hold against him was #9. I hate rap. Otherwise I was much the same when I was his age.

Your youthful indiscretions were all forgiven when you displayed moxie and hustle in stripping the ball from Leon Lett.

Chad Kelly has a significant injury issue and a lot of concerns about character. On top of that even if he didn't have the injury issue and the character issue he wasn't viewed as a uber high end prospect. He had issues even if healthy and no other issues. I think at best Kelly gets taken in the 6th or 7th (Best case 5th round if some team falls for him or he is able to do something to raise his stock) round. It wouldn't surprise me if he went undrafted. If he was there for the Bills in the 7th round I would take him, put him and Jones behind Tyrod and groom a couple of these guys while we have a capable starting QB.

No way he goes undrafted your telling me not one team would take a gamble on a talent like Kelly in the 5th, 6th or 7th your crazy.

I'm telling you exactly that. Kelly is a meathead. Pro scouts avoid million-dollar talents with 10-cent brains. Most teams would rather draft a player who could help a team, not a lottery ticket, which is the best way to describe Chad Kelly.

That reminds me, how's Da'Rick Rogers doing?

I am not the real Don Beebe but he was one of my favorite players.

I can appreciate that you are not the real Don Beebe, and was being facetious with my response, but per chance did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

And how could you not love an undersized, fast dude who can land on the top of his head and bounce like an upside down rockem' sockem' robot that just took a knockout shot and get up laughing.

Yes, you don't see players like him anymore. No I didn't stay at Holiday Inn, but it's good to see a man with a sense of humor.

There are teams like the Bills that are desperate for a quarterback and will do almost anything to find one

If it was any position other then Quarterback I would agree. Lets hope the Patriots don't grab him because Billichick could fix that guy pretty fast

Slammer good to see you over here..

Its the Billacheat way. He likes to shove Buffalo guys in the face of Buffalo. This is something I am very worried about, to have a Kelly in NE become the next Brady sure would make a tough pill to swallow.

In my opinion Billacheat will pull the trigger in round 4 and then trade one of his other backup QBs.

I dont think "Billacheat" cares one way or another where a guy is coming from, and therefore shoving it in the face of their former team...you really think Bill loses ANY sleep over the Buffalo Bills and their players/former players? We are so far beneath them its not even conceivable.

I do think he is very great at finding other teams castoffs (no matter what team), or players he covets for their fit in his system, and brings them in. They have success because everyone has success on the Patriots, and therefore it may seem to fans of those players former teams that their face is being shoved in it when those players do experience success with the Pats.
