After review, if we are being honest - we do not have a QB on the roster qualified to start and win in today's NFL. Until remedied, anything beyond a wildcard birth is out of this teams grasp...

This is accurate. They'll need a dominant defense, and luck with injuries and turnovers.

Are you still hearing that they are looking to cut bait on EJ?

Are you assuming the Bills will once again be one of the poorer teams in Yards Per Rushing attempt? If so I agree 100%...

But if they are one of the better teams in the NFL running the ball the Bills can be seriously dangerous...Especially if EJ or TT can manage the game, not turn the ball over, and hit a deep ball every now and again...Not to say they can be Championship caliber...But they could certainly win the Division if things fall right...Granted that's a lot of if's...

Agreed...

And for the life of me I can't understand why this is either so hard for some folks to understand...or why they simply seem to disregard any chance of EJ winning this job...

IMHO, EJ should always have been viewed as the favorite...And it's not because I think EJ is all that...Believe me I'm fully aware of his struggles...Rather, it's just logical based on the three QB's vying for the job...

EJ is the tallest, has the strongest arm, and was the highest rated prospect of the three coming out of college even if he was over-drafted by a round or two...EJ may not have TT's speed, but he's certainly mobile enough...And he may not have Cassel's experience, but he does have 14 NFL starts...19 (combined) TD's to 12 INT's...So at the very least he's worked through the hardest time of every QB's career...He got to sit back and watch a vet QB last year, something he should have been able to do in his Rookie year, so that should help him...The kid is smart and super driven...Quite frankly I'd be surprised if he did not win the job outright...I really would...

I think folks are getting too caught up on EJ's bad times in his first 14 and not looking at things logically...The Bills had a 100 yard rusher only twice in EJ's 14 starts...One of them was 103 by Spiller in the home win vs Carolina...The other was the Atlanta game that the Bills would have won had it not been for Stevie and Chandler fumbles...In the home win vs the Ravens in EJ's rookie year Spiller and Freddie combined for 164 rushing yards...The same year in the road win vs. Jacksonville the two combined for 147 yards on the ground...In the season opening win vs Chicago the Bills combined for 174 yards rushing with Spiller, Freddie, and Boobie...Seeing a pattern yet? EJ has only won 6 games as a starter, and go figure four of the six were when the Bills ran the ball well...It would have been 5 out of 7 had they not fumbled away the Atlanta game...

Even with his accuracy issues (something all 3 of these QB's have btw...), which are real no doubt about it...EJ still gives the Bills what they need assuming they can improve running the football...And, at least IMHO, he's clearly got the most upside of the three...So should we really be surprised if EJ beats out these two? Really? B-)

Nice post, KOK. I am hopeful EJ will take the starting job. At very least, he's not far behind the other 2 QBs. And I agree, he has the highest upside. Most of the EJ negativity is just media echo-chamber, I think, particularly clearly at the national level.

Based on exactly what you said in the 1st paragraph. He is the most experienced and of no one has separated themselves he will be the 1st up. He has had the most reps with the 1's, is the 1st to start a PS game. As I said earlier "as of right now." That doesn't mean as of the 1st game but as of August 9th. Do you really believe that if the season started tomorrow anyone other than Cassel would be under center? There is still time and 4 preseason games to change that but as of today I don't think that there is any doubt.

so you give it to a guy who was put in to play with the 1s so the 2 younger QB's can develop and learn with the 2's.

develop and learn, develop and learn why dos that sound so..... appropriate?

YES, I so believe when real games start it will not be Meh running the Roman offense.

Is anyone supporting Cassel as the starter here? I haven't seen it. The coaching staff knows what they have in him. I would be really surprised if they cut the vet that they traded for. He is the "worst case scenario" guy. They don't need his cap space. He will almost certainly not be back at the current rate but there is really no reason to cut him.

hahahahaha really, you want to rethink that?

this guy maybe?

How can Andy Dalton be adequate enough at QB, but not EJ? EJ, in 14 games has a 19/12 TD/INT. 5 more TDs and that's 2:1

Joe B couldn't hack the academics at Free Shoes University?

Yikes.

Unlike the athletes I believe he actually took classes that were academic in nature.

As Aaron Rodgers put it:

@AaronRodgers12: Can't wait to see what my Espn QBR was from practice today. Glad they factor in clean handoffs and walk thru td passes b/c I was on point

He's the twitter version of Peyton Manning in commercials.

@SalSports: Some non-QB #Bills thoughts: It appears Seantrel Henderson has reclaimed the RT spot, and it may be his to lose through the rest of camp.

@SalSports: ...Offense has been showing lot of motion last couple weeks of practice. Hardly any tonight. Pretty straightforward stuff in this scrimmage.

@SalSports: ...still interesting to see Robert Woods as the main punt returner almost every day, including tonight. Very interested how that spot goes.

I sort of wonder whether Henderson really ever lost it. Seems like Rex might have been using his placement as a motivational tool, both for Henderson's failure to show up and to reward Kouandjio for some major improvement.

Tyrod will likely be a specialist "package" QB IMO. I don't see him as a full time starter, but he has time to prove that he is.

That doesn't happen very often and usually not very successful You don't fool teams. You need talent and coaching. Not gimmicks.

With all due respect to you and Kirby, I'd be interested to see your final 53 with 3 QB's on the roster (2 with arguably very similar skill sets). Which valuable special teams contributors doesn't make it? Boobie? Thigpen? Butler? They're not going to be able to stash Williams or O'Leary on the PS. I'm just throwing this out there...those roster spots are quite valuable. Especially when Simms has PS eligibility. Again, JMO.

I know Johnny, I just think they will sacrifice some other position and or special teams because they are so unsure at the QB position. Or maybe they are not, it's just us.
