Kelly the Dog
The same guy that reported it, Ian Rappaport, 30 minutes later said "Now I'm hearing the Bills are taking Nassib at #8". I heard both of those reports live.
bills1960
A. If he were so high on our board, we wouldn't want to move down. B. This comes an hour or so after Rex Ryan claims he "has a plan for Austin". Coincidental? No way.

KOKBILLS
As bad as the Bills FO has been at times over the past few years, I don't see them being a team that allows this type of info to leak unless it's erroneous in an attempt to push activity for Austin...If they truly do have Austin as the #1 player in this Draft we're all here talking for nothing...Because if so, this is the worst Scouting Staff in Football, and this team is flat out screwed... C.Biscuit97
Ah, the throw enough stuff at the wall style journalism. These "reporters" probably just got in chatrooms or twitter to get there information. For instance, my #1 hot chick board (besides my girlfriend) switches every time I watch a movie. Stormin Norman
Would it not be catastrophic / tragic if the Bills drafted another Roscoe Parrish-type dude with a number one pick? Because if little Travon is really the pick at #8, dear Lord, the most positive Bills fan ever will flip. I think that is precisely what they are doing. They know the Jets want them and they sit in a very good position. Trading down not only keeps him out of the division, it would allow them to get an extra pick or two and get more value from the draft. Let's hope it gets done. Nitro
I smell a rat here. NY Jets were rumored to be interested in Tavon Austin a week ago. Word "leaked" out of NY Jets camp that they were poss interested in Nassib. Why do that? IF SF wants to trade into the top 10 to get an impact player, Austin maybe it and to thwart the Bills from making a trade, the Jets start the rumor on Nassib. This pre draft espionage, subterfuge and false leads happen every year.

yungmack
TheBills already have a Tavon Austin-style receiver in Graham (& his return talent is covered by McKelvin). What the Bills need, & what Buddy wants, is a big boy receiver.

Austin, like Sproles will take on the multi-dimensional threat role on whatever team selects him. Just like the Saints use Sproles in the return game, running the ball, and as a passing game matchup nightmare against Linebackers. buffaloboyinATL
I honestly wouldn't mind the pick but I really believe we are baiting the Rams to trade up into the 8 spot. Of course it could backfire and they could jump to 6 or 7 to get ahead of us. I love the psychology of the draft.

Just like the Saints use Sproles in the return game, running the ball, and as a passing game matchup nightmare against Linebackers. I think it's a big difference. Sproles is shorter and weighs more. He is much more compact. 2 of the best slot receivers - Welker and Amendola are much more solid guys than Martin and they struggle to stay healthy. Magox
Would it not be catastrophic / tragic if the Bills drafted another Roscoe Parrish-type dude with a number one pick? You know. the type of player with the durability of a Buffalo School Board President? Well, there is one little tiny difference between the two. Roscoe Parrish's stats: He had 19 , 24 and 43 receptions at UM For a total of 1355 total yard receiving through out his career with 12 TD's. He rushed for a career total of 186 yards with 1 TD Tavon Austin: had 114 receptions for 1289 yards with 12 TD's 72 Rushes for 643 yards HIS SENIOR YEAR! His Junior year he had 101 receptions for 1186 yards with 8 TD's The guy had over 1000 yards Rushing and 3000 yards receiving and 35 TD's for his career. And that isn't even counting his Special teams TD's. The only way you can reasonably make the comparison you are trying to make is purely on size and quickness. Production counts! Nitro
Tavon has been compared to Desean Jackson. Here is the tale of the tape (physical) Tavon Austin vs Desean Jackson. Austin 5-8 174lbs, Jackson 5-9.5 170lbs. 40 yard dash Austin 4.34, Jackson 4.39. Smurff receivers and running backs can be successful in the NFL. Not sure I would take at 8 but if someone else wants him, make the trade. Remember there was 16 first round trades last year. I think this year will be just as active. Welker's the same size, and while he's not been immune to injury, he's played enough to push 10000 yds. He's not Roscoe Parrish. Look, he's not even my first choice, but I'm just getting tired of these facile arguments based on attributes and not performance or facts. Texas, Oklahoma, Ok state and Texas Tech. Good teams right? 35 receptions for 360 yards and 2 TDs and 364 yards Rushing on 26 carries with 2 TD's. The very best in College is no where near what he's going to face in the NFL...Just ask CJ... I really hope I'm wrong about this...And if the Bills pick Austin he truly turns out to be the next Wes Welker...Oh and I should mention...He damn well better be the next Wes Welker if you're Drafting him in the top 10...He needs to be that good to justify being Drafted there... But anyway... I think those of you who are trying to find reasons to endorse such a risky pick at #8 are going to be asking yourselves what the hell you were thinking 3 years from now...I know people always want to give the Bills the benefit of the doubt...So when considering Austin at #8 folks are going to scramble to support it no matter how dumb it seems on the surface...But ask yourselves how that line of thinking has that worked out over the past 13 years?... I just think Austin is a terrible pick for this team, at this time...We'll see though...At this point the Bills are due to have something work out right?...Aren't they? Magox
The very best in College is no where near what he's going to face in the NFL...Just ask CJ... I think that goes without saying. The point I was making is that vs. top level college competition, he excelled. Also, I personally value players that have been very productive in college, specially in the skill positions. Then when you combine those incredible stats, with his dynamism and speed, you get a play making player with a history of high production. I see him more in the mold of a DeSean jackson. I'd be very happy if he had similar stats to him.
