It's amazing how quickly this fan base turned from "Beane is a wizard" to "Beane needs to be fired." I'm seemingly one of the few people in the middle. The overreaction isn't necessary. Beane has had some good years when we were all singing his praise. Lately, he has been very cold in the draft and gave out some bad contracts. It happens. You don't need to burn the whole village down just yet .... lets revisit this thread in a few weeks.

To be fair, if it was my $7 billion dollar toy, I would probably just run it the way that made the most sense to me. I don't fault Pegula. I am not sure Beane is complacent. He may just not be the highly competent wizard some fans expect him to be. Truth be told, given the state off the team, it is highly plausible Beane's decision making is being driven by the impact on 2026 and beyond, and not 2025. Also, we have a history of not really using the players we acquire in mid-season. Beane probably has little control over that, so his thinking could be "why trade for B. Thomas to sit on the bench".

Ralph didn't get 430M in revenue sharing each year though. Also wondering if McAfee asked Beane about his wizard skills.

This is all hyperbolic in tone. No one's characterizing that this is went down in 2024 and continued into 2025. It's strange the people who cannot bring themselves to say "everybody eats" was a colossal failure. I'd guess many of these were the people who called Beane a wizard who are noticeably avoiding that moniker. The team can be wrong in what they emphasize and what they don't. And it's clear from the past 5 off-seasons they've avoided WRs, avoided having a robust passing game that could work for an entire season, and prioritized defense nearly every one of those years. It hasn't worked for a long time. Is that really hard to acknowledge?

A mixed track record? That's some serious revisionist history if it takes going all the way back to Josh's second season in 2019. If we're gonna go that far back, let's throw in Kelvin Benjamin, Jordan Matthews, and Jeremy Kerley from 2017-18. It's funny because I haven't heard people refer to Beane as a "wizard" this off-season. It's really a noticeable decline these past couple years.

Sorry, I don’t live around here, and didn’t realize there were hard and fast rules. Clearly it’s your panties wadded up in those cheeks… That trade for Diggs was a good thing in hindsight? You’d rather have a few good years of Diggs at top dollar than the pick that was ultimately Justin Jefferson for the entirety of his prime? Shouldn’t we be able to trust that if a Beane is the wizard everybody you say he is, he would’ve surely drafted Jefferson in that spot, right? Didn’t realize it was a crime to get sidetracked a bit and deviate from the riveting discussion of “Go Bills!” And “ Nice, great deal!”.
