The Chiefs....where is their next loss?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall
Last season the #1 seed was thought to no longer be realistic after about week 12 or so. But in the end believe it was 3 way tie for the #1 seed. If the Bills had scored against Titans at end, we'd have been the #1 seed. Point being, a lot can still change. -
Funny you mention that, from the Athletic: It was actually a toss-up according to the Ben Baldwin win probability model. Their win probability with a failed attempt only decreased from the 97 percent a made field goal would have provided, to 94 percent. Had the Bills scored a touchdown on that drive, their chances of winning would have become a near certainty. So Allen fumbled it, are you suggesting the cut Allen? Or Morse, Davis for pushing him? But that was exactly what Davis was supposed to do. The 13 seconds appears to have been a communications issue from coaches to the field. Even that we don't know for certain as it appeared all the players on the field were expecting a squib kick except Bass. So was it the coach or Bass, may never know. But this situation was purely execution by the players on the field. They know how to snap a football as was shown by the hundreds of other plays that are snapped successfully, but this time they failed. I'd guess the odds are around 1 in 200 botched snaps. This one came at the worst of times. As tight as they were to the goal line there was little room for error. Was a safety the correct call, really too much time left for that as Minn could have made it down the field in time to kick a FG.

Xavier Rhodes elevated for Vikings game. Will he play?

Doubt one has anything to do with the other. They could instead sit Lewis or Marlowe -
Since the season is over, what’s everyone doing on Sunday?

Do you need to borrow an air pump? -
The part I recall him talking about how when he first bought the Redskins, he stated that RW talked with him more than a number of other owners did early on. Sounded like RW was more friendly with him than other owners were at the time. Sounded like at the owners meetings the owner all kind of have unofficial assigned seating and Washington and Buffalo were near each other so that helped kindle their early chats.

There was a post last week or was it Sunday night after the Jets loss suggesting Allen should be benched so he can watch from the sideline. I'll start a conspiracy theory that the injury is a fake and this is just their way of benching him but saving face so the coaches aren't ripped for benching him and it's better for Allen's ego!! If Kyrie Irving is a poster on 2BD I'm sure he'd agree with me!

They haven't won a road playoff game more because in 2019 and 2020, the team that beat them Texans and Chiefs was the better team. Even last year they were about even. This year if Allen is back healthy by year end and say they do sign OBJ, they are the better team than anyone in AFC. Doesn't mean they will win, but they are the more talented team so the fact that they lost prior isn't so meaningful. Prior years that wasn't the case so one piece of data doesn't prove the other.

Have a choice to make Thursday night, watch the Carolina-Atlanta game or walk on nails. Will be tough choice! -
Terrel Bernard was absolutely abused yesterday
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seem to recall him being somewhat undersized but smart player. That type of player will take some time, so not surprised he struggled. 4 of their 5 starting O-lineman from last season were brought back and they signed Stafford. That was on an offense that once they plugged Bates in was rolling over every one the end of last season and in the playoffs. The biggest reason the Bills weren't in the SB last season was because of their defense so putting resources was not the wrong move. Now they just lost one of their starting CB's To argue that any position was more needed than CB was a stretch. Most everything you read too says it's not smart to draft interior lineman in 1st round, only draft tackles there. They had one good one there in Dawkins. Brown has looked good when he's been healthy whicgh hasn't been that much this year. But kind of tough to predict who will or won't get hurt and draft based o nthat. Yup another 5th rounder not in the Pro Bowl! He's terrible, a bust. I do actually agree based on what McKenzie has shown they should make the switch, but arguing that he should have been playing all along when only a 5th rounder, again is a big stretch. Start in place of who?? Edmunds, Milano?? So you're arguing that 3rd rounder should start even though that would mean benching a proven starter. Meanwhile we had an opening a CB for a starter, but shouldn't have drafted a CB in 1st round?? This makes perfect sense! -
1. Will be interesting to see mid week when snap count numbers come out, but seems past couple of weeks they played more snaps using a fullback and/or 2 TE sets. That may be the biggest issue with Allen he's got one eye on WR and other eye on rushers coming towards him. 2. Not so easy to do this as you now have activated two more players who may not make it through the game. There were 5 LB's active yesterday and 9 DB's with 3 true safeties. If you're not sure they are going to make it through the game OK are you still only going to go with 5 LB's and 3 safeties or would you still keep all 5 LB's active plus Milano to be on the cautious side and do a similar thing with safety? Likely the answer is yes so then what two other position groups are you instead going to go light with. Probably wouldn't have activated Himes for one, but where's the other one coming from, D line? I know prior if a player was questionable injury they'd usually bump the total numbers up for that group to be safe. Wouldn't be shocked if the coaching/training staff kind of have an unwritten rule of thumb that if they feel a player can make through maybe 50% of snaps we'll play him, but if not sure he can go that far, then not worth taking a roster slot for him. What that number is, who knows??

Wow,Really? I never would have figured that out without you explaining it to me! Thanks!

Couple stats that surprised me: Wilson only had 154 yards passing. Watching the game it seemed like he was completing all his passes, would have thought more than 150 yards The Bills were 8 for 13 on 3rd downs at one point 8 for 11, hard to believe they were that good on 3rd down, but only scored 17 points If they challenged that call, they'd have only had 2 TO's left at the end of the game and never got the ball back. That like many NFL plays whichever way it was called on the field, it would stay that way. Not enough evidence to over turn whichever way it was called. Gene Steratore the rules expert for CBS and NOT a fan said the same, would never be over turned. Need to stop being a fan.

Games like this week and even last week likely will mean Beane is more willing to pay more to sign OBJ than he might have a month ago asshows we need another playmaker. The only problem is can they have him active for the Vikings game?

WEEK #9 - AROUND THE NFL GAMEDAY THREAD - NON BILLS
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anybody hear Collinsworth comment about what Mahomes told him about when their offense struggles and what they need to try to work thru. He could have easily changed the name to Allen and the Bills as it sounded just like the issues the Bills are having. -
Is it time to consider another kicker?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SydneyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I found a table that lists it at 53.57% from 55 yards. Another site states it's unlikely to make FG beyond 52 yards Interestingly 56 yards jumps up to 59.3%, then down to 36.7% at 58 yards. Once you hit 60 yards it's pretty much always below 30% so again does validate that 55 yards is getting close to edge of reasonable made kicks -
The "non-interception" by Edmunds
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but the problem with doing that as the default is then there'd have to be clear evidence to over turn it not being an Int which again wouldn't have happened. The call was going to stand whatever was made. While it would have helped the Bills today, don't think that's a good path for the league to go down as the default tactic. I do think it points out a weakness in the system that as you suggest rule it an Int as that would automatically activate a review. If that's the only way it forces that, there's a problem with the system as exists today. -
Seems like past couple of weeks they were using 2 TE's and fullback more and it seemed to work, both with running and less DB's back to defend the pass. Today didn't seem to see as much of that which resulted in Allen always on the run. Granted Jets d-line and overall defense is good, but then need to account for that.

NFL teams want trade deadline moved
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's been talk about eliminating Daylight Standard Time too. If they go ahead with eliminating that, then agree they should move the trade deadline!
