Ravens and Lamar do not reach contract agreement
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but he also has to deal with the fact he doesn't just own a business, it's more like he owns a franchise and corporate doesn't like their franchise owners speaking like that as it hurts the overall bottom line, not just his own. Likely there will be ramifications from above. -
Bengals and Titans also have pretty tough remaining schedules remaining. The one team with a pretty easy road is KC so will be tough. Their best chance at loss may be next week. On the other hand last season KC was cruising to easily have the #1 seed. They still won it, but was very close by year end. If I recal lright, if Bills had beaten Tenn, they'd have been the #1 overall even with all their mid season losses.

Kyler Murray: How did the Cardinals fall for it?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree, there have so many of these stories about QB's who look pretty good, but not really good enough. But there's a huge shortage of actual franchise QB's so teams take chances. Rather than as you suggest letting them walk if not certain, they double down for fear that starting over is harder and no assurances that won't be in the same spot in another4 years. At least they know what they have in the present guy. If there were no salary cap in the NFL many of these guys would be OK. But once you give your QB franchise money, you have to make cuts and weaken the team in other areas. That's when you find out this guy can't carry the team. There's probably about a dozen either great or very good franchise QB's in the league that are worth the money they are being paid, but probably another dozen making close to the same money, but not worth it and now the rest of the team has been gutted. IMO the QB position is in better shape today than it's been in the last 25 years with more guys being worth the money, but still nto enough to go around for all the teams -
Trouble is too many teams are expected to be strong in April when schedule is completed end up having poor seasons and other teams surprise. Rams, Packers, entire AFC west were expected to be be good, on the other hand not much was expected from Jet's, Giants, Minn, Seattle and don't think many expected Miami to be quite as good as they've looked. Add it all up, end up with some bad featured games on TV!

Why has tackling become a struggle?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fixed it for you! Backups are backups for a reason. Can you get by with one or two and still play well. A team as good as the Bills should be able to and for the most part have. But this past game, missing both DE, LB, FS, All pro CB played two series (not criticizing how he was used either) Other weeks Milano was out, think twice. Wasn't there one game earlier both Milano and Edmunds were out. Oliver missed was it two weeks early? Right now though, think the biggest loss is Edmunds as with his size, really shuts down passing lanes. On offense missing 2 OL, plus a QB with lingering effects from an elbow injury. Brown, Knox, and Davis have missed a couple of prior games each I believe too. Think the only position group on the entire team not having had injuries in the RB group?? -

Criticism of McD and coaching has reached insanity level…
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lot of people didn't like the McD pick to start with and in the early years, could find many "see I told you so" moments to show he's not a good coach. Last couple of years, these moments have become harder to find so when it does happen, they come out of the woodwork again with the same speech. Think it's more a case of proving they were correct all along than even criticizing the coach. But that's the online world we live in, everyone wants to prove they're the smartest guy in the room and much easier to do online without negative consequences than face to face. -
Dr. Jekyl, Mr. Hyde review of the Sean McDermot
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD coaching win percentage .611, Peyton. 68, not a huge difference. Peyton also had a number of bad years in there too. Coaches for the most part hire assistants they've worked with prior. Did Peyton work with Reich, if not probably won't happen. Having said all that, assuming the Bills don't win the SB, wouldn't be shocked to see the team get rid of Dorsey and would maybe bring in a guy like Reich as OC. Think the issue with Dorsey is he's an ex QB who has pretty much just coached QB's till this season. That combo seems to make Dorsey too pass happy. Can see him being the mad professor type scheming up exotic pass plays for Allen and not spending enough time on run game. Reich is also an ex QB, but has embraced the run game in Indy. -
Wow didn't know you were privy to the Bills playbook and know that they had better plays they could have run had they had more time. Apparently you also know that was the play deep into the end zone, that Allen didn't just take the deep throw. Sounds like you would have called a better game than the coaches. On 1st down he threw short but incomplete. Had it been completed, they could have called TO but no need. 2nd down went into end zone, but you have have no idea if that was the called play. On 3rd down he was sacked for loss and took TO. All I recall seeing on TV was Allen getting sacked, don't recall seeing end zone view to know all WR went deep into end zone. Plus if they called TO earlier how do you know they wouldn't have still run same plays at the end since they didn't have any TO's left. At the end of the game think it may have been a player called the TO as initially the clock was stopped at 5 seconds, then reset back to 7 seconds. How could that happen? Here's my take, before they ran the last play, McD told the sideline official stay by me so you'll hear when I call TO and he did and McD called it with 5 seconds left. But then another official came over and told the head ref, #XX called a TO before and I looked up and there were still 7 seconds left so they reset it.
-
Before half time they took the kick on 4th down. So assuming they had used a TO, there would have been more time on clock, but still 4th down. It wasn't like the Bills clocked a ball to stop the clock on that drive and wasted a play. If they had taken a TO just would have meant a KO and possible drive by Detroit, so explain again how that was bad? At the end of the game pretty sure a player called the TO as initially the clock was stopped at 5 seconds, then reset back to 7 seconds.

On #6 and 10 #6 The kick was close, but I felt watching the replay it was good. #10 Pretty sure a player called the TO as initially the clock was stopped at 5 seconds, then reset back to 7 seconds. How could that happen? Here's my take, before they ran the last play, McD told the sideline official stay by me so you'll hear when I call TO and he did and McD called it with 5 seconds left. JA: Yips, new OC, or poor OL?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Professor Worthington's topic in The Stadium Wall
So you feel the elbow has nothing to do with it, but he got hurt in week 9, pretty close to lining up with your assessment of when he went downhill. Listening to Romo, as an ex QB he likely has a better chance of understanding what that type of injury can mean to throwing. Good chance at some point he may have even had the same injury. It may not even be that it actually hurts him, but just affecting his throws. Overall my take on it is the injury, but also OL play and maybe defenses have figured out Dorsey's play calls. Allen's amazing arm can overcome much of this, but take that away the arm strength and he's maybe looking like a middle of the road type of QB. Then throw in some weak line play on top. -
Yeah well it's where things are. Beginning to think the defense is falling apart due to lack of Edmunds. They talk all the time about his size and how he shuts down the passing lanes. Once he went out in the Vikings game is when the defense fell apart. Will be interesting when he comes back.
-
Yes, but he was a PS call up. They are only allowed to call him up one more time from the PS from what I understand. After that they'd need to move him to 53 and cut someone else. Could happen, but it's far from a given particularly since White now is back. I'd assume next week he'll play more.
-
Or you could just as easily say: When our O can’t do much of anything, it’s putting so much pressure on the defense who’s playing without starting DE, LB, FS and had other DE leave game very early, plus all pro CB only played was it 1 series.
-
Rhodes isn't even on the 53 man roster so a few things have to happen for him to play. Not saying he shouldn't be on the roster, but right now he's on the PS.

Yeah probably more people passing out in the stands than on the field. Then add some alcohol and 95 degrees! -

Probably, though think there's a better chance of it being either a coach or official as they aren't in as good of shape as the players. Never thought about it, but when do the officials get a water break, maybe during TV time outs. Meanwhile players are subbing in and out and getting water whenever they want it.
