Do You Watch NFL When The Bills Aren’t On?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll watch, but not intently, probably do split screen. Two weeks ago when they played the Giants on Sunday night, wasn't even a good game to watch in the afternoon. -
Yeah I read it's 6 weeks if they can match him with a cadavers leg, 8 weeks if they are forced to use a pigs leg.

Would you be for "Eye in the Sky" officiating?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't about the sky, but I'd like to see an official up in a man list 20 feet high that goes up and down the sideline aligned with the LOS. Preferably one on each sideline. There'd have to be some safety involved that the list driver doesn't run over a player or two. -
Do you think the offense was better yesterday?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
To answer your question, did they look better? First I crossed out all the stats Forget the stats, they looked much better with the eye ball test against Tampa. The NE game they almost won, but if they had, didn't deserve it. Last night they won, but almost lost, but handily deserved to win. And the difference was the offense. -
Fitzpatrick's veiled criticism of Dorsey?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I agree being in shotgun seems really dumb and not defending it, I too was not happy seeing that. But does make me wonder if: Last week prior to NE game, G Davis was quoted as saying something along the lines of "We need to run more plays were most comfortable with" So does make me wonder if Allen keeps telling Dorsey, I want to be in shotgun as I recall reading more than once Allen prefers shotgun.?? -
Which Player Would You Want In A Trade?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I can only pick one I'd go with Hopkins, but overall, my first choice is a DT-1/ nose tackle. IMO that hurts them the most as also exposes Williams and Bernard more. Getting a good DT-1 makes LP play much stronger in the process. The Bills are a pass first team so don't see the value in Henry and will Allen really pass it much to Hopkins or is everythign still going to go through Diggs? -
Why do the Bills always defer when they win the coin toss?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
To the best of my knowledge that never happened. What did on rare occasions happen was if it was an extremely windy day a team may rather than choose to kick off or receive, or defer would choose which end of the field to defend. That would then allow the other team to choose to receive the 1st half and again tin the 3rd quarter. That happened more in the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" era, (or when the French Connection came out) now I think with offenses being better overall and stronger leg kickers, that hasn't happened in years. -
Why do the Bills always defer when they win the coin toss?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Were you just as annoyed by this practice two years ago when in most games, they'd stop the other teams opening drive, then get the ball and drive down the field and score a TD, then also score right before the half and on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter? -
If the Bills defense is healthy, they're 6-1 right now
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not even sure you need to include White in there, but Jones, Milano and this past week Oliver. Read many posts that injuries are no excuse, but how many teams have lost probably their 4 best defensive players (including Oliver this past week) That's more uncommon. Article yesterday said Bills lead the league in percentage of players on IR and that's not including Knox if he goes there. -
Article on Josh Allen's state of mind

Yes but you can charge more for teaching someone to be low positive! -
Why is everyone focused on the Offense here?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
How do those numbers look like over the past 3 games? I highly doubt they are #3 then. 10 points total scored before halftime in 3 games. The offense went from average 35 points per game in the first four games to 20 in the past three and averaging 3 points a game up to halftime. So yes I do blame the offense more than the defense. Regardless this thread was about the Bills offense and defense, has nothing to do with NE and how good, bad, or ugly they are playing and what injuries they have. -
Why is everyone focused on the Offense here?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seen many posts stating injuries are no excuse, all teams have them and that is true. But how many have probably their best 4 defensive players all out 3 of them long term. There's an article came out today in the BN stating Bills lead the league in percent of salary cap on IR. Up till now all their players on offense have remained the same so the defense does have an excuse more and they looked real strong prior to the injuries. There was chart showing how the Bills offense is still coming up with big plays, 14 of them in Sundays game, but only 3 were before halftime. -
But the list of unsuccessful ones is much longer than the successful ones. History says better chance you go backwards than forward.

I don't think McD leaving means Beane is gone. Most often GM's get at least two shots at the HC position. In this case Beane didn't even have one. I'd be surprised if Beane fell on his sword for McD, that would be rather unprecedented. But if he was gone that does further complicate things.

Top part sounds reasonable, part in bold likely is a 2 to 3 year plan. Yes KC did it, but without changing coaches. As soon as you do that likely changing schemes and more of a rebuild. You also don't know for certain if Allen is going to be reinvigorated or PO'd that they got rid of the guy he wanted as OC. Admittedly it would be interesting to know what Allen really really thinks of Dorsey at this point??
-
And what makes you think Ben Johnson will be a better HC? Other than he's an offensive mind? Every year roughly 25% of the coaches in the league are canned, many of them all were up and coming OC's who turned out as HC not very good. You bring a new HC, you also are likely looking at a scheme change on both sides of ball and new personal. Likely in a mini rebuild for a couple years.
-
Yeah, but how do you know Williams is going to be any good? There's a very long list of can't miss college QB's who did turn out to be misses in the NFL. Much longer list of misses than successes. Just look at Allen's rookie class, Darnold, Rosen were complete busts, Mayfield has been far from a success. Allen and Jackson have been the bright spots. Couple years later didn't San Fran move up to pick the guy they just traded away.
-
Not likely. You fire McD, likely new HC would either be Washington, Babish, or maybe it's Dorsey. LOL I suppose that would be one way to get rid of him as OC. Barring that more likely Dorsey stays as OC
-
Not sure I'd really put Allen in the good as it was his bad play early that created the hole. As others stated would add Cook to the good along with Kincaid. McD's defense looked real good until the top 4 players are out and in particular both DT's. Put both of them back on the field and things likely look much different. All teams have injuries, but how many lose their top 4 on one side of the ball? Offense is a problem, but put more of the blame there on play calling. And with all the injures on defense, offense has to play better. Dorsey was the toast of the town after Miami game, since then has been plain toast. Seems if he puts a good game plan together, and it works great, but when it doesn't work, nothing much is done different. Though do wonder if some of that problem is due to McD pushing the Dorsey to be more balanced?
-
White looked pretty bad last year and he sat out a full year. Likely not going to get much out of Miller this year till maybe very late or in playoffs assuming the Bills get that far. This is also the 2nd time for Miller and older. Way too early to say he's toast, but right now, he's not effective much at all.

Is the season beginning to unravel?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
That has been hurting them, but with your 4 best defensive players out, that happens. Teams may have started to figure out Bernard. Jones being out is a huge loss. Part about Allen just sitting there is interesting, hadn't thought about it prior. Is he told the coaching staff, he's getting too much info and it's overwhelming him and confusing things more. Or did Dorsey tell the other coaches to leave him alone, something else going on? -
Is the season beginning to unravel?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes for the first three weeks of the season, lately haven't looked that good. Have teams figured out Torrance, maybe? Dawkins lately has been playing like he was last year. Not sure what the issue is? -
Are we now sellers at deadline???
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tend to agree, they are too good to not be in playoff contention and once you get in, you never know. All of a sudden they could figure things out again on offense. At this point think the only things I'd consider at this point would be firing Dorsey and trying to find DT help. -
How bad is Allen's shoulder, REALLY?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Think it can be a little of all of the above. Yes he delivered some great passes, but did also miss and was off target more than normal so do wonder if it was the shoulder. Also do agree with the comments that the issue is in Allens head, seems lately there is some truth there too. To say his shoulder is fine is laughable as no one here posting really knows the answer on than Allen saying it's fine, but what would you expect him to say. Bigger issue seems to be the overall offense play calling. Last week Knox dropped a pass, but wasn't a great throw either, was 50/50 ball. Today, that was a big drop with no excuses should have been an easy catch. 1st couple of weeks o line looked real strong, lately they have become a mess too. Then add in you're likely missing your best 4 defenders or at worst 4 of the top 6 including your best two run stoppers
