You Tube ST issue today
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
But the Bills game is on ST as are all games. If I lived in Denver or LA the Denver-LA was on local TV so if I wanted ot watch the Bills game I stil lcould through ST. I get what you're saying, but the game was on ST. -

You think it was CBS, not YTTV?? I've seen that happen a number of times, which is fine, s little weird but nothing wrong. -
You Tube ST issue today
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I did the same. Haven't done that since last year, was afraid I might not remember how. But was like riding a bike! -
So I live live in NC, out of local market and subscribe to YTTV and ST. The early game on local CBS channel was Cleveland-Jax game with plans for the Bills-Chiefs game to be broadcast following at 4:25. Cleveland game didn't end until around 3:45 so if watching on local TV was carrying the end of that game and would have joined the Bills game in progress. No issues there, that's typical of the way it works. So instead went into YTTV and selected the Bills-Chiefs game. But instead that was also showing the Cleveland-Jax game. Had no way of watching the beginning of the Bills-Chiefs game. Am I missing something here as that's not the way ST is supposed to work, I'm supposed to be able to watch any game of my choosing?? Wondering if anyone else had the same issue or was it something just going on in my local area. This has never happened prior, regardless of what game was on local station, I could select and watch the Bills game. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again next week when they play Dallas as that will again be a late game followed by an earlier game on Fox.

Why? Is your goal to waste a draft pick? This team is good and Allen is great. There is no QB controversy here. The only way the backup QB sees the field is in a blow out win or loss or Allen gets hurt. As many have said, though not this year, team needs a backup QB good enough to win a game or two until Allen gets back. Why would you want to trust a rookie QB in that role while you can always find a Tribisky, K Allen, and others just like that. Drafting another punter would make much more sense than drafting a rookie QB.

Think Knox's role will be as the blocking TE but probably one of the best pass catch TE's in the league so teams will need to account for him as a receiver where as a guy like Lee Smith they could ignore except for the one time a year he'd go out and catch a pass. Is he making too much money as a blocking TE, maybe depending on how many passes he actually catches. Could see them sticking with the contract for 2024, but once his role is defined more long term, then asking him to take a pay cut. Or restructure in 2024, then pay cut in 2025?

Is Belichick Tanking Already?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree on 1st comment and 2nd one don't follow college football enough to know, but just do know there's a long list of #1 overall flops. Even worse than flopping is you draft a guy who can win you a half dozen games a year, good enough to think next year he'll turn it all around, but bad enough to not ever make playoffs and just good enough to not ever give you any top draft picks. But like you said, by then BB will be sitting on his boat in Florida. Really can't believe Kraft would want to trust a 70 YO something to develop a new fresh out of college QB. That just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen unless the guy is a Tom Brady clone as far as the all out stop at nothing and do everything to win -
Is Belichick Tanking Already?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Pats could end up with the #1 overall and still no guarantee the QB they pick translated to NFL success. It certainly isn't the first time there's been a can't miss QB selected #1 overall who missed badly. If Belichick was so smart he'd have never taken the chance and waited until the 6th round to draft Brady, he's have taken him in at least the 4th round and for about the next two years been ripped for over drafting the guy. But they got lucky that time. -
Which WR prospect will the Bengals screw us out of?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
So the good news is one mock I just read, believe it was in the Athletic have the Bengals taking an O-lineman, the bad news is they also have the Bills taking lineman, believe it was an OT from Iowa. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
So what I'm reading here is the local media folks who have some real internal connections to the front office folks for the team are saying McD will be back, but he national media who lack that, plus all the arm chair GM posters here who want him gone all say he'll be gone. Think I got that right. -
To a point I can let that one go as officials never want to throw a flag in the last few seconds of game on PI and give the team a play from the 1 yard line. Defenses kind of know that so will play a little rougher too. I'm sure at some point KC defense took advantage of that too so again don't feel bad about it.

Or get a Roku. One thing good about Roku is they seem to pride themselves on having just about every TV app known to mankind.

I think Beane tends to draft based on potential, often taking younger players that will need more time to develop. Some players develop faster others longer and some never or at least not to the level they were drafted at. Think that's the one downside of drafting based on potential, a bigger risk that they don't develop. Players like Allen, Edmunds, Epenesa, Knox, Brown to name a handful all fit that bill and took some time and have become good to decent players. Of all them Allen was the one who developed much faster and better than anyone ever expected.
-
OK, I was thinking it was him.

Recall a long time ago, back in early 80's Giants were a complete mess and at the owners request, brought in a retired ex GM front office person to help them figure things out. From that they turned things around and became a dominant team over the next 15 to 20 years. Can't recall the name who was brought in??
-
Didn't the rules change a couple years back that you can interview other teams coaches between week 17 and 18, the final week? If so I'd consider making the change then to take advantage. That's assuming we are out of the playoffs. If that rule isn't true then I'd wait till the end of the season.

Well I kind of hate the entire big 10 or should I say Big 15 or so. Was it McNabb or Vick, I was also thinking it was in Philly
-
I hate both Ohio St and Michigan, so Saturday in the game was thinking a tie would have been nice as would tend to screw them both. Then I remembered they changed the rules in college, no more ties. Can't recall anymore who it was but do remember the one NFL player, think it was QB was shocked that games could end up in a tie.

The Bottom Line IS The Players !!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but look at what happened in the Denver game. Watched another game over the weekend, (may have been a college game) team lined up for FG just before ball was snapped, TO called, still snapped the ball kicker kicked it and made FG for practice. Now kicks the 2nd one for real and misses so never know. Granted in this case TO was called way prior. -
The Bottom Line IS The Players !!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you're talking about he FG at the end, believe the clock was already stopped. While I'm not absolving McD of all the issues, posts like this are comical in that people who call themselves fans and post all these facts, didn't even know the clock was stopped. Do wonder about all the holding calls on both offense and defense. Some of them by all players not just the Bills are so obvious, why are they doing it. Is it that the players all know, officials allow holding, but just never sure how far they will allow it. And varies so much from crew to crew and even play to play as to what the allowed level is at the moment. -
Good news is they are mostly all young except Morse so should/could be around for awhile. Not sure too if replacing Morse with Bates would be much of a drop either if Morse were to retire or they made big changes in off season and let Morse go for cap reasons.

Can we have a conversation about Diggs?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I'd agree too, it's not been a season long thing,. more just past few games. Agree too don't understand why they took him out. Admittedly I didn't see what he did on the play prior, maybe he just ran 50 yards downfield?? -
Did Bass struggle last season? don't recall it? Was thinking could it be the holder?

Who should coach this team in 2024?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the exact reason why I wouldn't fire McD now. Too often when teams make an in-season fire and bring in an interim guy, the change helps and the team wins. But rarely is that guy ever the real answer. But now you're caught up by the fact this guy did win a few games and team looked better and you hire him, most often ends up being a mistake. For that reason if you're going to fire him, I'd wait till year end to do so, then you have a choice of anyone you want. And as you said it is a desirable spot. At this point too, team needs to do more than get a new HC, need to replace a number of players, both safeties, a CB, sign Jones or another run stopping DT, WR#2 and maybe #3? maybe a center. If you hire Brady, likely much of the coaching staff will stay intact too and less likely to make larger changes that are needed for the long term.. -
Buffalo @ Philadelphia Game Thread - 1st half
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Have to wonder if Torrence sticking his arm up right before the snap is causing Brown to be real close to jumping early. IMO there's been a few plays where was borderline whether they could have called Brown for jumping.
