Need a capable backup quarterback next season.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to margolbe's topic in The Stadium Wall
Those three names prove my earlier point. In the case of Zappe and O'Connell those teams didn't have established starting QB's so risk in taking a flier on a low drafted rookie isn't bad as for all the team knows he could be better than the week 1 starter (see Tom Brady) Huntley is on a team with an established starter, but back in 2020 when he was a rookie, he was 3rd string. So Baltimore paid the salary for a #2 backup, Robert Griffin plus Huntley possibility used up an additional roster spot on him as not certain if he was active all year as the #3 QB or just made active roster as #2 when Jackson was out and rest of year was on PS. They also carried 3 QB's in 2021 too with a 12 year vet in Josh Johnson on the team. Only starting in 2022, did Huntley become the #2 QB as a 3rd year player. Prior he was 3rd string. So yes those three names all are good examples of exactly what was my point. -
My guess is when the season ends a similar story will also be coming out about Diggs. Whether his will be surgery free or not, who knows, TBD??

And the front office will figure out a way to handle the cap. Will they be in great shape no, but likely can afford better than vet min for a backup QB. Yes is Allen has season ending injury the team isn't winning the SB, but if Allen were to be out 3 to 4 weeks even with a backup QB like Mitch T, they could still win some games against the likes of NE, Giants, Washington, Chargers, they could win half the games and keep the team in it till Allen returns. With it's very unlikely they'd win at all with a rookie QB who hasn't played at all who was drafted in the 4th round. You want to draft him and keep him on PS, fine, but pretty much a waste of the draft pick too then. -

so if Allen were to get hurt and miss a game or two you want to put a 4th or 5thj round rookie in to take his place??? Teams draft QB's in late rounds when either they don't have an established starting QB or they basically have no other needs for the pick. Think the Bills best plan is to keep doing what they've been doing, sign an experienced QB who is at the point he's not getting a starting QB job in the league. But maybe go for someone with a little better skill set than Kyle Allen. Mitch may be available again or the guy they had last year, but someone of that level. -
My point in posting this was it just sounds like something folks here would post, maybe not the identical same things, but the basic concept of the "sky is falling" like many posts here are all about. As good as Miami has looked for most of the year, their posters are sill just as worried as around here.

3 things for next year 1.They need a new strength and condition coach. In my 40 years of watching football, I have never seen a team lose so many top front line players in one season like I saw with the team this year. 2. McD must get an Defensive Coordinator to call the plays he designed at the right time and in the right situations. 3. McD needs to have an older assistant coach on the sidelines with him to serve as a calming voice. Because I am convinced that sometimes he is just not thinking straight in game situations. All that being said, next season (meaning 2024) should be make or break for him What does everyone think? Actually this was off the Miami message board and I just shorted McDanials to McD and changed the one word of offensive to defensive coordinator. Is kind of funny reading other teams board as you'd think from reading posts here, we're the only team in trouble like this.

NFL wild card weekend TV schedule
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Add to that, everything you read is how consumers are dumping cable and satellite and going to streaming. So the NFL is following the trend and putting the game on a streaming platform exactly what everyone is going to. But now fans are complaining. Supposedly either in 2024 or 2025 ESPN will launch a standalone streaming service following that trend. Read an article the other day think it was in Kiplinger how for under $30 could have a decent streaming options of Peacock, Paramount, Hulu and one other one service. Would allow you to watch network channels through them. Admittedly this setup didn't do much for sports lovers. -

Can add ESPN to that list too. Yes the NFL should just turn down money being offered to them so fans can save $6. -
What happened to the OLine and the run game?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dubie54's topic in The Stadium Wall
Morse had a talk with them! Hey I'm just quoting what I read in article. But do think the "talk" resulted in them figuring out what was the issue and doing things different in 2nd half. What that was, he didn't say and beyond my knowledge to see from watching game. -
Best coaching move of the game yesterday
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
What I highlighted above may be true 10 times that when the play caller is an ex QB. I could imagine Dorsey often thinking to himself, boy what I could have done if I had JA's skill set. Let me live vicariously through him now and call the plays I always thought about, but I didn't have the skills to pull off. Ex QB's are probably great QB coaches as Dorsey was with Daboll, but scare me as an OC. -
Haven't found anything about this. Assuming the Bills win next week does Miami fall to #5 or #6 behind Cleveland if Cleveland also lost? Records would be the same and they didn't play each other. Cleveland has a better conference record, but not certain that is next tie breaker for wild card seeding. If so then 2nd weekend likely could have either KC or Miami in Buffalo assuming Bills win 1st weekend.

Could try NBC.com or an antenna

I know it's only Jan 1st, but so far this is the dumbest post of the year. I posted in another thread if difference between winning and losing was the 5th vs 6th seed, then yeah, but to give up 2 definite home games and likely playing the second week in Baltimore is crazy.

Panthers owner tosses drink at Jags fan.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll bet he didn't pay for that drink, else he wouldn't have thrown it. -
That was a big problem with Jimmy B every year as he'd never play more than 7 or 8 at most deep.

Plane landing at London Heathrow Airport yesterday
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall
Doesn't matter how long runway is if wing tip hits the ground. So are all three of these pics taken at exact same distance? If not the scale can make one look much bigger than the other. I've landed in Vegas on a 95 degree day and updrafts had wing tip very close to hitting ground. Maybe not a big deal if tips hit as you'd think they' make runways narrower and undercut the sides if it did matter more?? -
The 1 scenario that eliminates the Bills next week
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall
difference between the #2 seed and the 5th or 6th seed and playing on the road pretty much every game for Miami so yes a lot going for them to win. Haven't even seen if Miami loses, do they end up with 5th or 6th seed? If Bengals still had shot could see Cleveland not playing starters as not much difference for them between 5th and 6th seed, but big difference here for Miami. -
It seems like it's the easy throws too that he struggles with. 7 yard pass to someone wide open he misses. But then makes great pass 15 yards in tight coverage.

Von INACTIVE vs Patriots, Coach's Decision
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Think Joseph only played like 30 snaps last week. With Jones back he can play close to that many , add in in AJ back which mean Groot can shift inside on a few plays. Last but certainly not least, from everything I read, last week, both Settle and Ford out played Joseph. -
Playoff Lenny should be active rest of year...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Considering he missed practice Friday with no reason given, I'd say the chance of him being active this week is a definite NO! Makes me wonder too if he found out he wasn't playing, got mad and left the team? -
I have a Clearsteam 4 antenna, output to a pre-amp then split the single using an amplified splitter about 5 ways to five different TV's in my house including a TIVO OTA DVR. That is how I watch most of my TV via the TIVO DVR and other than on rare occasions when very windy everything works fine. I also have YTTV mainly because I have two houses and 2nd house doesn't have good reception with an antenna so there YTTV is my primary mode of watching. But when home in primary location also use YTTV for non over the air stuff like ESPN, TNT, etc. YTTV allows me to access in two locations so cheaper than any other alternatives other than Sling I will say I'm am planning on trying again in 2nd house with antenna in different spot. If I could get that to work consistently, ,may buy another TIVO and go with that in both locations and dump YTTV also and go with Sling to save some money.

I meant the D lineman, isn't his name Kingsley Johnson?? Ok just looked it up, it's Jonathan

My guess is either Johnson or Ford (sounds like an election)
