  1. Yeah until Milano's replacement got hurt, and then his replacement got hurt
  2. I can understand this week because of how depleted the defense was, but then need to score pretty much every drive. One TD in second half won't work.
  3. All teams have injuries, but when down to 4th stringers against what is still a very good KC team it will make a difference. Many here seem to be forgetting that many of the players who were out this week with injury or playing but not close to 100% were already playing for the original injured starter.
  4. Yes, so what did the Bills offense do differently to adjust in Q4?
  5. Were they? Think people are forgetting the injuries we had weren't to our starters, they were to the backups who were already replacing the starters who were out for injury. When you're down to 4th string LB's and 3rd string CBs playing still one of the top offenses in league when they need to be, hard to fault the defense. Actually the stat that I thought the OP was going to bring up was the Bills held the ball for 37 minutes but lost. Which goes back to defense, but again with who was out there, hard to expect them to stop KC
  6. Agree. The strategy was fine, but the problem was it stopped working in 4th quarter as the Bills offense became ineffective.
  7. Agree with the strategy, but if McD didn't think his defense could stop KC why would he then think a low scoring game would win it. Last week against Steelers, that wasn't a bad strategy, but against KC?? Yes grind it out is great as long as they can keep scoring every drive. But in 2nd half didn't do much on offense other than one drive. So the banged up D couldn't get a stop, and the healthy offense couldn't score!
  8. As was pointed out in Sundays BN and in one posters comments, can't cut White until he can pass a physical which is doubtful by March. So only option would in an injury settlement, but why during off season would a player accept anything else but every $$ he was due? Injury settlements work during regular season when a player is now fully recovered but was placed on season ending IR, so takes the settlement and joins another team. So if you have to pay him all the money anyway, may as well keep him around. Knox had around the 8th highest contract this season for TE's, but most of the players behind him had contracts ending this year. Likely means by next season Knox will become around the 22nd highest paid TE. Think it may depend what the Bills truly want to do next year. Do they really want to go with 12 personal, if so then worth keeping and money may be worth it. His role may become more of a blocking TE and he still would be one of the best pass catching blocking TE's in the league.pass catching
  9. So if the defense was better they would have tried to score more than 7 points in 2nd half? Grinding it out is fine when it's working and you have the lead. But once KC took the lead you had two 3 and out drives. With all the injuries going into game on defense, the Bills needed to score more than 24 points to expect to win. Yes the grind it out is great when it works, but when it stopped working, need something else, and they had very little. Ask yourself this, before the game started, if you were told the Bills will score 24 points tonight, with all the injuries, would you think 24 points would win the game?
  10. You had 3rd and 4th stringers playing last night in multiple positions on defense yesterday and gave up 27 points to one of the better offenses in league and likely the best QB. Meanwhile on offense, missing only one starter who everyone wants to get rid of anyway and in 2nd half had one TD and a missed FG on 4 drives including 2 3 and outs. If all the Bills normal defense starters were playing then would tend to agree, scoring 24 points on KC should be enough to win, but with all the players that were out, needed more. Especially more than 2 3 and outs in 4th quarter.
  11. Tend to agree. Think last night was Brady's worst game, but may be because it was against the best team he faced. When things stopped worked in this game he just kept doing it again rather than trying something different. Too many 1st down runs for 0 or 1 yard gain late, so now 2nd and long. The only issue with doing a search is timing. Until he's named OC, he's up for poaching too. Are there really better OC's out there that aren't already an OC? Likely would need to find another Joe Brady, a guy who was an OC, got fired and now is a position coach. But then you're hiring a guy who wasn't a good OC tostart with. Don't disagree with you, but there's a whole bunch of other threads saying the issue is coaching, McD specifically and need to fire him. So how can it not be the same here. Granted one difference is more history with McD, but still same issues yesterday on HC dropped passes, not taking easy check down throws, and multiple injuries.
  12. What was the option? Cut Bass and bring in a new guy? Or in this game go for it on 4th and 9?? I don't know if Diggs would have got the 1st down, but could have brought it down to more like 4th and 3 or so, then could see them going for the 1st instead of kicking. Agree on other 2 plays, too may times trying for the big one instead of moving the chains. There were other drops too, think the Shakir drop was worse, but did make up for it on the TD catch. Also bad drop by Cook, did they still score on that drive? Hard to figure out though how Bass could go from so good for really great first 3 seasons to this year. If this was his 14th year instead of 4th, could chalk it up to his leg is shot.
  13. Cook, Benard, Shakir, Benford, and Spector from 2022, Kincaid, Torrance, and Williams in 2023 Groot and Brown in 2021 overall is a pretty good building block. Jury is still out too on Elam and Shorter. Think they need to do a reset this off season with guys like Poyer, Hyde, Morse, then wait to the following year for Diggs, and Miller. Build around Oliver and Allen plus a handful others and the names above.
  14. Diggs and Bass must have started smoking the same thing about mid way through the season as that was about when they both went to hell.
  15. Plus McD created all the injuries. When 4th stringers can't easily beat the Chiefs, that's on the coaches. Dropped passes also were on him.
  16. Think the truth is some where in the middle. Yeah there was some hero ball play by him, but little else was working. On the other hand can't call legendary going 26 of 39 for 186 yards. The Bills had to play perfect today with all their injuries and a somewhat weak WR group and for awhile, they were close to that. Certainly seen many better games from Allen including the 13 second game. This game may have relied more on Allen than the 13 second game, only because nothing else worked for the most part, but that's not a good enough reason to cal it legendary IMO. I'd just say Allen did all he could. Overall play calling was up and down, early on going to Kincaid was working, but then stopped till the last drive. Once KC stopped Bills runs, they kept trying same plays anyway and gaining 1 yard. The longer the game went Cooks yards per play average kept going lower, but that didn't stop them from running the same plays.
  17. Fixed it for you. Really doubt the coaches were telling Allen at the end of the last drive to throw 2 long passes both on 2nd and 3rd down. I will agree that the runs by Cook in 4th quarter weren't working but they kept trying them anyway. Also agree that if they made the kick with 1:47 left, likely KC had scored. The Bills had no margin of error in this game, probably needed to score on every drive to cover up for all the injuries. You can argue injuries are no excuse, but when down to multiple 4th stringers in playoff games, it will make a difference. Having to rely on Klein to cover Kelsey because no on else is left isn't going to win games, but who else was left? Overall, do agree with your thread though, don't blame Bass.
  18. The Bills had no margin of error in this game with all the injuries they had on defense and a weak WR group. They did OK till the 4th quarter, but then stopped on 3 drives was it. Then too many drives at the end on 1st down, they'd run Cook for no gain, then Allen throws a bomb for incomplete so now 3rd and 10. Again a game with little underneath passing, other than 2 or 3 screens to Diggs for a total of 6 yards. If had been like 4th and 3 at the end, maybe would have gone for it on 4th down, but with 4th and 9, kicking was the right choice. After the last 1st down Cook for 1 yard, then two long incompletions, which on one play Diggs was wide open short. Add in the drops, no margin of error If the kick had been made with as much time as was left, barring a miracle likely KC would have got down the field and scored.
  19. Any links to the full active day roster for today? So far haven't see none posted
  20. Guessing Williams starts game, and plays as long as no big mistakes
  21. Even the 90's! I'm pretty certain at the end of the Giants Bills SB, Kelly got concussed. It forced the Bills to take a TO, likely if that hadn't happened they would have had another TO left towards end, likely could have ran a couple more plays, maybe got another 1st down and got closer for the FG
  22. I'm not saying call up, I'm saying cut or place someone on IR from the active 53, then sign someone from PS to an actual contract. Never said cut Spector, I said IR him. If Dodson and/or Bernard are back for the AFC title game, would they even need Spector then? I thought I recalled a few weeks back when none of the LB's were out besides Milano, was Spector even dressing on Sunday??
  23. That would make alot of sense as even if Benford or Dodson can't play this week, assuming they win likely by next week one of them would be back, so the need for Spector drops off a fair amount anyway. Worse case, they probably could sign a FA if new injuries popped up this week. Believe they can they still cut someone as late as Sunday morning and sign someone off PS?
  24. Would think it would need to be by later today as isn't 4:00 PM today the deadline for PS call ups? The team may want to use a call up to replace him.
