Would you trade AJ Epenesa?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but the same problem would exist if bringing a new WR. To me it's even worse as both the QB and the WR need to learn from each other and that takes time and practice which today's NFLPA rules doesn't allow for much of that. At this point in season, I'd think they'd be further ahead in making the fast ball, faster by using more Kincaid, Harty, Shakir, and Sherfield. If you're going for a big trade I'd rather see them go for a guy like a Surtan at CB -
[Question] Former Bills who have found success in McD Era?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure I'd count Hughes as he was more a numbers thing and is at the tail end of his career. Was surprised to see he had 9 sacks last season. I think this is true of most FA. If the player was really good, the team would have re-signed him. Wasn't Teller traded too? That's a little different as the Bills didn't just let him go, they got something back and didn't that pick get used to draft Bass? As Marv Levy once said, Most free agents hurt the team they leave, more than they help the team they go to. -

LOL I think the Bills have much bigger problems than WR2 right now. 3 weeks ago, maybe, now CB and LB are way ahead of a luxury pick. -
I'm watching on TV yelling throw it, but agree he waited to long. People are pointing to the drop by Cook, Unless there was another one, I recall the one early in the game and that was one of these where he's like 5 yards away from Allen, barely turned his head and Allen is firing a fastball at him. And blaming him for the drop?? A couple weeks back there was a similar one, think it was to Knox. Too often Allen isn't giving the receiver a fair shot to catch it on these 5 yard passes.

Roger Goodell said today's game was an experiment??
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall
But you could still make the experiment work and use a team from the prior Thursday night game. You could even have a permanent team over there and either use Thursday night teams or teams coming off their bye. Actually the biggest issue may be for the permanent London team when they return from a road trip, with the time difference would make for a shorter practice week. -
I actually was rooting for the Jets mainly because of Paytons uncalled for comments back in July about Hackett. This was kind of a revenge game for him and couldn't happen to a nicer guy in Payton. Did think it was funny at the end when Wilson fumbled the last time, as he walked off the field Payton said something to him and Wilson just walked by and ignored him. Not sure which of the two I like less though Wilson or Payton, tough call there.

Football media and DaQuan Jones

How many games a year does Eisen actually do? Has to be tough if not being a regular announcer working every week. -
I saw one place that stated the Bills wanted their international game scheduled in the next couple of seasons, prior to opening the new one. So they gave them this.

OK missed that part -
Why weren’t the Bills allowed to play on the grass?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but money does talk too! I 'd still like to know why they put the turf down over the grass though? Was it fear of damaging the soccer pitch? -
Roger Goodell said today's game was an experiment??
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not with the same team playing consecutive weeks. There's been much made up about the Bills traveling over only on Thursday evening, but that was the same schedule Jax used the week prior. Difference was both teams did the same a week ago. That to me did make this rather unfair, then add to it as someone pointed out in another thread, the Bills were the home team this week so should have been given the travel advantage. Would have been much fairer since Bills were home team if a week ago, Bills played Jax with Bills home team, then this week Jax was home team against someone ideally who played the Thursday night prior so give them extra time for travel if they choose to use it or not. -
Why weren’t the Bills allowed to play on the grass?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
And I'm not arguing with you either that artificial turf doesn't increase injuries, but league studies haven't proved that and have faulted other studies, so no definitive proof either way. -

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
But that argument goes both ways. It's not an exact science so can't prove the field had anything to do with the injuries either. There was an article in todays Athletic that talked about how they put the artificial turf over the grass, but no explanation as to why. Only thing I can think of is the Premier League didn't want their grass field chewed up by a bunch of barbaric Americans -
Bills injuries - Milano , Da Jones, Floyd
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if the Bills did any of #2?, that one does make sense. WRT #4 it likely does kill an entire day going from morning to England during the daytime where as going from west to east coast, team can still practice in morning and get to east coast at a reasonable time. Your 2nd point the more I think about really did screw us and was rather unfair as it was our home game. Agree, but not sure going a day or two earlier would have helped either. 2nd half looked better, but still struggled. IMO the injuries were the bigger thing and can't blame injuries on the offensive side. Is Jax defense just that good or something else? O line had a rough game WRT penalties. -
Christian Kirksey is retiring
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did he actually retire and turn in papers? Believe there's a difference WRT eligibility to return if actually retired. Just last week read how Matt Ryan did NOT turn in retirement papers so he could come back and play. Not sure what it all means or doesn't mean, but apparently there is some type of difference. -

So the problem with this argument is Jax and Atlanta traveled over the week prior on Thursday night too and the traveling Thursday night prior to the game has kind of become the NFL standard for games in Europe. Granted the fact that Jax has been there for the full week does give them a big advantage, but not sure they should change the travel plans because of that. Other than going over Sunday night or the latest Monday night wouldn't have changed much and then you're changing your entire weekly travel plans anyway. NFL teams are creatures of habit so really don't think you'd want to that drastically change plans that much. As also pointed out it was a six hour plane ride, that's only one hour longer when west coast teams travel to east coast (granted 5 hours rather than 3 hours) The only thing that what's become the standard Thursday night red eye to Europe plane trip differs from most normal east to west coast trips is that most West coast NFL teams will practice Friday am, then get on a plane around 1:00PM PST and land say in Buffalo including the time difference around 10:00 PM EST so not really messing with sleep plans. But with one hour longer trip and extra two hours time difference, plus add in Healthrow airport appears to have rather strict airport landing times, not sure its possible. Not sure what the evening curfew is, but in the morning if plane arrives prior to 6:00 AM it has to circle, can't land. So guessing nothing later than 10 or 11 PM is allowed to land? IMO the only thing to blame is the advantage Jax is given with 2 weeks straight over there. -

Last week in the Wednesday prior to the game coach press conference McDaniel's singled out Taron Johnson as being one of the best nickel CB in the league. -

All three of our guys are in quadrant 1 which is impressive. Will be interesting to see in 3 or 4 weeks where Jackson plots out. -

The good news on Bills-Jaguars injury report
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
Believe I read there are 162 people on the the flight, only two more than normal for road games. I'd think the PS travels to all road games as no idea about last minute injuries?? Was hoping this thread was going to have a long list of Jags that are also out?? -
The only thing in Miami's favor is it usually takes until the 2nd year to blow up. Right now he'll be on his best behavior so could help them this season.
