So you don't think.... But Rodak who is there every day and sees whatever interaction there is between McDermott and Ragland, so he writes something that states that Ragland isn't doing that well and he's a rat. Wow. Amazing how no one is supposed to write anything negative about the Bills a team who hasn't been to the playoffs in 17 seasons and most people on a national level have ripped the hell out of him. But somehow you've figured out that Rodak is the problem. Maybe you should just stop following the team as Jack Nicholson once stated " You can't handle the truth!"

Unworthy HOF members
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd agree with you on Kurt Warner, don't think he had a long enough career. Plus would prefer not having to see TV shots of Kurt's wife all weekend! My overall take is it's too easy to make the football HOF and too difficult to make the baseball HOF. -
Yes property taxes are very high, but the houses themselves are much cheaper here than in most other cities. Yes they are still buying million dollar homes, but in NYC, NJ DC area and probably around 75% or more of the NFL cites, the same house would easily cost double. In spite of the taxes, the mortgage is the bigger part of the equation. In NJ a house that may be similar to what I own may cost a million!

Going Incognito - Richie teaches preschool
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like alot of what happened in Miami was the team trying to be politically correct after it happened and deny any involvement in the whole thing as far as they wanted Richie to help "toughen him up" -
Good question. If I remember correctly, wasn't her NFL rookie of the month in Sept of his first year and was being called one of the steals of the draft. By seaso nend, was doing OK, no longer great. But that often happens with rookies when the hit "the rookie wall" I'd imagine for O-lineman it's an even bigger wall as lineman don't sub out very much so can see where he'd be even more tired than say a rookie Nickle back who's only playing 25% of the snaps. His second season he was out by early November with the illness. I don't know alot about Crohn's, but pretty certain it's not something that pops up overnight, so wouldn't be surprised to hear that it was already effecting him back in training camp and it took to November before it got so bad that he couldn't even play. So I chalk the 2nd season up to that. Over the past year have seen many people including in this thread argue that pot is a good treatment for Crohn's and others counter with it doesn't matter he knows it's illegal. Considering the situation he was in with dealing with the illness, I'm pretty certain his biggest concern was getting healthy and doing whatever he could to help with that and had little thought or worries abut the NFL rules. So were his failed drug tests from smoking during his extended illness, Did he maybe find it too easy to keep smoking, maybe? I can forgive him for that considering the situation. Last year, sounded like he still didn't have all of his weight and strength back at the beginning of the season anyway, plus had a 4 game suspension to begin with. A number here said the initial suspension was good in away as would give him time to get back to strength. Then along came the 2nd suspension, but would like to know the timing of the test? Was he smoking because he was still in pain? Bottom line IMO was the guy was pretty darn good as a rookie, if the illness is behind him and the pot was truly do to the illness, I'd keep him around and could see him becoming good if he can stay clean.

Panthers Fire GM Dave Gettleman
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a guy on the Bamonte Jones show late this afternoon, works for ESPN out of Charlotte, can't remember his name, but he basically that Gett was fired for all the reasons you state below. He said he's trying to make it all about the numbers and be cut throat like Belichick, but he doesn't have the rep to pull that off like Belichick has and that he's just been too cold to the players. He also mentioned some player was was released recently, can't recall the name but this guy was real well liked by Richardson. and felt that cutting this guy was the last straw and did him in. He said he was brought in to be a numbers guy and make the cuts needed to straighten them out salary cap wise, but that's also been what did him in as he was too cold in his dealings. He also talked how if Beane were still there, he'd likely been announced this afternoon already as the replacement. -
My take on this is for whatever reason he doesn't want to play for the Jets and sees them(and maybe Jax) in the best position to tank and get the #1 or #2 overall pick. so he's saying I'm staying in school, hoping they'll give up the tank idea. But I agree it's all a smokescreen, if he's top 5 or so, he'll declare for the draft.

Richard Sherman is stating NFL players need to consider striking to get better deals like the NBA and MLB. He then praises NBA players for being smart and working around the cap by taking 2 year deals. NBA players like KD and LeBron are sitting there taking two-year deals like it's nothing," Sherman said. "They figure, 'I'll take a two-year deal because I'm going to wait for the salary cap to increase and get another bite at the apple.' In our sport, they won't do it." Great idea Richard when you consider the average NFL career is only three years long. Losing 1/2 years salary will look real good when you only play for three seasons!

How clueless is Gil Brant?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see ranked #43 is Chris Spielman, unless my eyes are getting real bad, doesn't that look like a picture of some black guy. Spielman looked pretty white to me the last time I saw him -
Guy I know did something similar few years back with something other than a Slingbox, can't recall what it was called, but worked for him. His father lived in Pittsburgh and he wanted to watch Penguin games. He would tell me how he'd sometimes mess with his father, he'd call him up and while talking with him, he'd change the channel and listen to his father go nuts as to why the #&*@^+ stupid cable box changed channels without him touching the remote. So if you don't believe they don't have a contract, does that mean they do have one?

One thing that NOBODY can argue about
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And what about 9 weeks to the first snowfall?? That's the one thing I always hated about start of training camp, meant the end of summer was fast approaching. Living down south now, not nearly as bad. -
Dumb Carucci column...assessing QB position
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So it appears that every day Vic's column will be that Bills are worse than last year. I could buy some of his other columns, but he's he does appear to be on a mission to show every unit is worse and whatever point he can come up with to prove his point. Paying TT less is going to make him play worse?? Most times a player who feels he's underpaid will play better. Today though a unit that led the league last season in rushing is somehow worse at every position. That is a reach IMO. When he mentions Miller, he could have also commented as was stated here by many this might just be a motivational tool, or maybe this other guy is really good. But no comment on that. Sounds like Glenn will be out for the season from the way he's looking at it. Today he really does appear to be pushing an agenda. -
Yeah that was what I was wondering, so is the answer still no to ST? That streaming ST is only available to people who can't get DTV
-
But is the streaming option still only for those who can't get DTV, or have they relaxed that requirement? DTV kind of has a dilemma, they can stick to their guns and not give the streaming out unless you can't get DTV, but they run the risk of totally losing viewers as many are "cutting the cord" So are they better off at least getting something in return in the way of a ST streaming fee. I do think since ATT bought DTV it's getting harder to get a good deal on ST.

So if Beane were hired in Jan and he then hired McDermott, you'd be happy? I really don't think it matters at all as to the order. What does matter is when you have coach hired that the GM wasn't in favor of like the rumors are that DW didn't want Ryan or the other way around like a few years back in Miami where the coach was already in place and you then brought in a new GM, then you have problems. Most of the front office hires by the Bills were all people currently under contract with other teams and many considered lateral moves. If you had tried to make these moves in Jan, most if not all would have been stopped by their current teams as teams won't let front office folks leave prior to the draft. Your only choices for GM in January would have been from current un-employed folks. You state like most teams hire the GM first. While I do agree that is true, it does appear the trend is reversing as in recent years there's been a handful of teams that did as the Bills did and let the coach select the GM. Considering the coach is often payed more, it does make sense to let the coach select the GM. I believe in five years the new normal will be coaches hiring the GM across most of the NFL. So could argue the Bills are forward thinking team!! What I don't like it coaches wanting to be coach and GM and the success rate of that is low.

I'm fine with the Bledsoe trade. Did it work out very well, no but at the time everyone was pretty excited and he was great for about ten games... Till they played NE. I've often wondered Bledsoe was deciding between Buffalo and Cinnci. Blesdoe was great till he played NE around game 10, after that other teams noticed what NE had done to him and dabbled with similar things a bit. Believe it was game 15 or 16 the Bills played NE again, same thing happened and after that every team the Bills played copied NE's game plan and Blesdoe was finished. But if he had gone to the Bengels, the way the scheudle worked out Cinnci didn't play NE for three seasons and then only one time. Would all that have been avoided and he would have done well for a number of years. Admittedly it's possible with Bledsoe in Cinnci, they may have played much better, won more games and the way the schedule is determined, could have meant they played each other sooner than in 3 seasons. Had to be named. I don't recall that being a demand of his to take the position. Seems I recall at the time RW realized he was getting too old to keep up with this stuff all the time so was ready to hand the reins over to TD. Worked OK for a couple years, then yes his paranoia and ego was his down fall. But don't see that as due to his insisting he be named president.

Seating help for a game
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsCuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stay away from the fist ten rows or so in the lower level as the players standing on the sidelines hides everything. I even tried to get them to sit but they wouldn't listen. -
OR that could mean he takes us as first visit so he can shop it to others. Unless we were willing to way overpay, he was leaving here without signing. And likely if we did make a real high offer, then not tot say his agent would have come to conclusion, market is higher than we thought. We're now shopping high end.

Bills Polian's Sirius XM Bit on the Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to MooseTooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did I hear correctly that Polian lives in the Charlotte area, if so he probably has had a number of conversations with Panthers coaches and FO and know those guys better than every team outsdie of Buffalo. -
Summary: Players lost/gained in 2017.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every year at this time it's pointed out how we have a much tougher schedule this coming season than the year prior. So much can change between now and December. Likely one or two teams who are expected to be very good, will fall off, and someone else expected to win 4 or 5 games will be fighting for a playoff spot Last year at this time we were playing Cinnci a playoff team and Jax and up and coming star. How'd that work out?
