Actually we have no one on the staff named Cromer!! But that's besides the point. The fact that so little has been said officially about the OC and we already hired one position coach Castillo without an OC in place makes me feel it's highly likely the OC is already known and is one one of the teams playing this week so can't yet be announced. . Based on a number of comments made likey is one of the two in KC.

So here's my prediction, there have been a number of articles stating how the Bills and DW have moved on from TT evidenced by benching him for the finale. Personally I just see it as away to keep their options open. But the media has decided we are moving on. And so it was written!! So if the Bills do decide to keep TT it now will all be due to McDermott and how he was smart enough to realize we need to keep him and somehow managed to overrule DW to keep him and all the praise will go to him.

If they are thinking of either of them, I'm sure unofficially they have received an OK from KC that Buffalo can have him.

Potential Bidding War over McCoy?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Rex firing goes much deeper than that. In a nut shell, he was a hot mess and they figured out even bringing him back for another year wasn't going to change the 10 or 12 men on the field, the penalty's, the constant boasting with nothing to show for it, the hiring of Rob, and a few other classics I'm probably forgetting. Defense could be fixed, but not these other things as go much deeper. That I think is really what got him fired! -
Big names didn't get jobs.

Well it could be true but ONLY for the coaches on that staff who have contracts expiring that year. But that's a big if. And what I don't know is if teams going to the Super bowl after the conference championship week games, (this year starting Jan 23rd) will go to any of their coaches that they want to retain and offer and hopefully get signed extensions done before the Super Bowl, so then no one is ever made available as all under contract. But completely agree with your point in that billsfan75 was implying that you can basically just get all the coaches from your old staff to come over to new team regardless of contract status. Years back recall most assistant contracts are only for two years, not sure if that's still true, if so, then 50% would have expiring contracts every year. -
From what I've read contracts for assistant coaches are all on two year contracts. So that would mean once they guy signs a contract, it's only one off-season he'd be locked in for. Granted that could be the one year he'd have got the chance to move up, but often seen where a HC wants a guy, he signs him and just kind of creates a new position on his staff for him. So if the guys is under contract wait one year and sign him to a newly created position, kind of what Rex did with Rob.

Kyle Posey: Debunking the Tyrod Taylor Myth
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There I fixed it for you to be more accurate of the situation. That does make a big difference. Yes you can learn something standing on the sideline, but then you need to be on the field to see if it actually works. Another name to add to that list would be Vinny T. He was terrible for the first 10 years or so. -
I'll be very surprised if it's Lynn only because rarely have I ever seen an in place coordinator interview for the HC position, see the position given to someone else, then stay on in his old position as OC. Yes I understand he's under contract and technically doesn't have a choice (just like Jim Schwarz), but it just doesn't happen as too much bitterness and disapointment and at this level you want a person who is 110% happy with the McDermott hire and can't see how Lynn would ever be.

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but unless Lynn professes how he wants to be here in Buffalo, the team that decided not to make him their next HC, now they want him to continue on as the OC. Yes I get it that he's under contract, but at this level, unless the guy for some strange reason has 0% bitterness towards the Bills, no regrets at all, he'll be gone. Can't recall of other times when a guy presently on staff interviewed for HC position of same team, was not selected, but then went back to his old position on the staff. It just doesn't work that way -
So you're saying trashing a plane, punching a hole in a wall , not doing interviews postgame, and going to Miami the week before the game makes them a bad sport?? Boy R U picky!!

Ghost of Mangini, Crennel, and Weiss
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this may have alot to do with it. Unless it's a team going wit ha complete re-build, then maybe a month behind isn't as bad. But not so sure either of them would want to get into a total rebuild. I do also think many wonder are these guys really good or is it all BB pulling the strings behind the curtain. -
3 Best and Worst Whaley Moves
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I'd arguee that Clay and Hughes are more a case of the coach not utilizing their skills. Hughes in particular has shown to be good, prior Rex. -
So here's a situation where a coach from the offensive side of the ball was promoted to HC, spent all this time all season in meeting with the rest of the offensive staff, but yet he turns around and fired the WR coach. And yet there are people here that don't understand why if a guy like McDermott were to become HC that Lynn wouldn't just automatically stay on. McDermott is a defensive side so he needs an OC, so Lynn would be a natural. Just like when Schwartz parted ways from Ryan a similar thing will happen here likely. Sometimes a few are kept on, but usually only if they had some type of prior history.

Jags hire Tom Coughlin as executive

You know you're right, does look a bit like a heavier older version of TC. Will be TC in 10 years! -
Awful weekend of football.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Carr hadn't got hurt, likely Oakland would have won the division, so instead would have been KC at Houston, or could it have been Miami at Houston? But thinking with Carr healthy Oakland didn't play this weekend. -
A View from Beantown

This!! Think Pegs told DW I got us into this mess, so I'll take care of ending it. Unfortunately the way they handled it publicly opened them up to much attention and not in a good way. -
I'd disagree only because as been reported Rex reported directly to Pegs so could almost of seen as if DW fired Rex, Rex could tell him, that's nice but you don't have the authority to do that. I only take direction from Peg's I also think this may be case of Pegs telling DW, it was my call in hiring him and not listening enough to you and got us into this mess, so I'll take care of getting rid of him, it's on me. Unfortunately the way they handled it put alot of heat on the entire team.

pegula equal daniel snyder?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to nuklz2594's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really have doubts that DW wasn't involved. IMO there were discussions between Pegs and DW about getting rid of Rex at year end, but no clear decision had been made, so technically what DW stated was completely true. If the rumors are true that Rex was more a Peg's hire than DW, then I think it may have been more a case of Peg's telling DW, I got us into this by my choice to hirie him so I'll take the heat to fire him. The way the Bills announced it put heat on everyone. As far as benching TT, if it was due to the injury clause, then I think the front office should be the one making that call, particularly if at that point, you're not certain the HC would be back for the following season. -
pegula equal daniel snyder?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to nuklz2594's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless there has been some study done to show that the Pegula's are unique in doing this, I'm not faulting them in any way for this. As to Fred Jackson, recent story made it sound a bit like Rex may have actually been the one behind it. -
R. I. P. Bruce DeHaven
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd assume the second time was due to change in HC, cleaned out the staff. I think it was more than that one play that caused his firing. I seem to recall that entire last year and even the year prior the Bill's special teams plays had dropped off as likely due to guys like Tasker and Pike were gone to name a few. -
If Romo says he wants to leave to start someplace he'll be gone. JJ does have alot of love for Romo and won't stand in his way. Likely will try and work out a trade to the team he wants to go to. The only way he stays is if he tells JJ I don't want to leave Dallas, I'm OK with being the backup and also OK with re-doing the contract to a more reasonable number. But I'd put my money on him wanting to be a starter someplace.

Just a crazy thought about a rebuilt
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 1st&ten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but I think alot has changed since them. I'd be very shocked if Peg's doesn't feel he's been criticized unfairly by the media and isn't going to go out of his way at all to help them or conversely make any decisions to appease them. Look at the DW press conference. He basically told them nothing, yeah he and the Bills were ripped for it, but they don't care. Sully kept pounding Pegs "At least Ralph would face the media and not hide like Pegula did" Well kind of hard to make that point when 4 hours later Pegula does a 1 on 1 interview with AP.
