Funny though I was on some other site earlier and listed the Bills as one of the losers. But was pretty inaccurate as mentioned how they didn't do anything to secure a backup for McCoy. Guess this guy didn't know they signed Ivory. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/8-teams-that-lost-in-free-agency/ar-BBKgMav?li=BBnba9I

Could be the Bills have made offers very close to what they'e got from other teams so they are trying to get a little more someplace else and then bring that to the Bills to match. And at the same time Buffalo has probably given them a deadline or they are moving on to option B or C And BTW, why does everyone suddenly want EJ Manual back anyway??

Bills sign QB AJ McCarron
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what happened earlier in the day there were reports we had signed Derek Anderson, were they false? Or did we sign two QB's yesterday? -
Can't see the Giants trading out of two not knowing who Cleveland is taking. If Cleveland takes Barkley, then Giants would probably want to make trade, but if Cleveland takes QB, then would think the Giants would want to stay put.

Lesean McCoy: "Man It's Just a Business"
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to dgr81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have to wonder to, does someone like a McCoy post things like this just to have everyone go nuts and they can then read all the posts and laugh about these idiots who bite on everything. -
But you can counter that with what other team but Buffalo can give another team the assets they'd like. Buffalo could give Indy or Giants 2 #1 picks this year, 12 and 22, plus say #65 for the 2nd or 3rd pick. No other team right now has 2 1st round picks and can come close to offering that. That may allow the Bills to give up less than other teams as they have more valuable picks.

Update! Beane is'nt done yet.

Could also be a bluff, leak you're talking with the Colts at 3 so the Giants say we'll take the same deal and give you #2. If you don't want a QB and you have a top pick you want to get a bunch of draft picks and right now the Bills (and Cleveland )are in the best position to some team picks. Actually the Bills could start to play the Colts and Giants against eachother. -
Did Gaines just re-sign???

No different than back when the Bills signed Flutie, then a month or two later Rob Johnson. I always felt Flutie never would have signed here if he didn't think he would be the undisputed stater. -

Do you REALLY THINK our GM & HC will trade UP?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not against moving up high in the draft however... Last August this current years draft class was being talked about as the best ever. Now for every article out there about someones strengths there's another questioning them. So based on how good the talent evaluators really are, not to say next years class may just as likely surprise in the positive -
Bills moving up to 5?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bendernaught's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh the 3 guys taken before Mayfield, I feel they all have more risk of failing. While if Mayfield fails, it's almost more expected so kinbd of view him as having the most potential. But maybe he can be had for less?? -
Draft order and who gets what?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bornafan66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come back to this in 2 weeks and see which teams select whom in FA. That will simplify many things here and give a much better idea what the Bills will need to do to get the guy they want. -
The "We have too many holes" argument
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With getting the 3rd rounder for TT, I'm not as concerned as likely can move up to #3 and still keep one 2nd and one 3rd round pick this year for other holes. However still makes me nervous as for every "Can't Miss" pick out there in this years QB class there's also seems to be as many "Can't Make It" articles too. So who ever we give up all these picks for will be great if it works out and we do get the right guy. But history says probably 50% of this years QB picks will flame out. -
Maybe I'm just forgetting, but don't ever recall this many trades before FA even starts in prior years??

Offseason hopes/predictions....
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hesitant about giving up too much draft picks to move up. Having said that I'd probably make this trade however I think it will take more than you're showing to get up t o#2 overall, likely bot h#2's this year As was also pointed out, you trading one of our 2nd rounders, but show two people being picked. IMO cross out both those 2nd round guys as no picks there. So then this whole trade becomes too rich for me too. -
Bills need all 8 picks in the draft to get better.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Casmo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And to your point: You're not building the team in one off-season, but fill the other spots first, then go for the QB next year. Hate to see them trade all the picks away for a guy (Rosen, Darnold, Allen, Mayfield) who likely has less than a 50/50 chance at success. If history tells us anything at least one of those 4 if not 2 will flame out. -
Mike White (WKU) the target?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People I'm sure said the same of Arron Rodgers and Tom Brady to name a couple. Rodgers was a late #1, but certainly not a talked about guy. -

If we had a top 3 pick I'd definitely say pick a QB as that still leaves you with three more picks in first two rounds. The concern I have if you trade picks to move up to get that franchise guy, as the OP states you'll no longer have 8 picks and likely none other in first two rounds. I'd gladly take that trade for the next Jim Kelly and as you state fill the other spots the next season or two. But the problem is as was just stated in another post, there's a 1 in 4 chance that guy will turn out to be any good. So now you have no other picks to fill spots and in about two years will realize you still don't have a QB. Then you'll be starting all over again and blaming it all on we have a poor coaching staff, so will get rid of them too and start over there new too. I'd rather see them trade one of their 1sts to a team for an extra 2nd and next years 1st. Then could still fill spots this year and I wouldn't be as concerned next year if you trade away most of your picks to move up high as likely not nearly as many spots to fill. If you pick the wrong guy at least you still have a good strong team overall. To your point, you're not building the team in one off-season, but fill the other spots first, then go for the QB -
If you feel there isn't any sure fire franchise QB's at 21, I'd be OK with moving back and doing like last year trade the #22 to a team for another a 2nd and next years 1st. That would give the Bills 5 picks in the first three rounds, enough to fill many holes. Next year then wouldn't mind trading two 1st, plus a 2nd and/or 3rd to move up to the top as then wouldn't have as many holes to fill overall. Preferably I'd try and make the trade with a team not expected to do that well next season, so lets assume the Bills again finish 9-7 and get the 21st pick, plus the 1st from a 5-11 team which would likely be around #10 Those two picks plus 2nd, 3rd could get you up pretty close to the top.

Prediction- trade up for Vita Vea
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no idea if this guy will be great or a flop, but to be accurate you're trading a 1st and a 3rd and getting a 1st in return. To be more precise, you're trading a 3rd to move up 5 spots.
