Carolina 2018 free agents
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were talking about Norwell this morning on ESPN, commenting that he'll likely be the most highly sought after O lineman Could be they are reluctant to spend money in FA due to impending sale. Though in the grand scheme of things on a $billion dollar sale, what difference does $60 million mena on FA signings. Probably not much -
I agree with the idea of building a team with all the picks as opposed to moving up on a QB who may or may not work out. But personally I'd prefer you go with Peterman next year, and draft a QB in the 2nd/3rd round Sorry as good decent as TT has looked some games including this week, 2 games of under 70 yards and a couple others where he was totally ineffective says he's not the answer. This morning ESPN was talking about a can't miss upcoming this off-season FA lineman, don't recal\l the name, but he's a guard from Carolina. Maybe the Carolina connection will come through again.

14 games and Zay still doppping passes
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Dadonkadonk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably needs to work on putting on weight and muscle in the off-season. Likely a little different than playing against defenders in C-USA There have been drops by Zay particually early this season, but faulting him for dropping that one is crazy. That would have been a hell of a catch if he'd made it. -
Carolina Panthers will be sold after season
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Steph has got a nice contract, but think the money he has is walking around money compared to guys buying an NFL team. Kind of like the rumors of Jim Kelly buying the Bills. Nice for a public eye, but that's it. At least Kelly is a fixture at the stadium. Yeah that's what I thought so don't get the part about he doesn't know anything about football. May not know much about owning a team. Just to contradict myself, so how'd this guy, ex player afford to buy a team and be the primary owner? Was there a ton of family money? -

Seahawks falling apart?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of the problems with franchise QB's once they reach their second contract, unless they are a top level elite franchise QB, like Brady Rodgers, Brees, and Big Ben their salary takes up to much of the cap to keep a strong enough team around them. Wilson is good, but not worth the money he's being paid. -
All I can say about the coaching is - GREAT!!!!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah we could have went with 60 yard per game TT instead. TT played well today, but the week prior to Chargers had 56 yards against NO and the week prior stats looked decent against Jets, but was mostly in garbage time. TT is what he is, do agree with many that the team could have played more to his strengths, but he's had more shaky outings than good games. Though will admit am torn between keeping TT around for another year and with all the draft picks strengthen the rest of the team, mainly both sides of line. Maybe use 2nd round pick on a QB. This year in Sept there were 4 or 5 can't miss franchise college QB's, now there are 4 or 5 college QB's who all have question marks in one way or another, could be great or all middle of the road. Based on that, not sure it's worth moving up in the draft for any of them, or at least the ones from the Pac 12 -
Ding, Ding, Ding!! We have a winner dumbest post of the week. OK you want to debate RB, fine, but QB. That is the one position on the field that never gets subbed out for barring injury. This isn't college football with no limits to the number of players on the sideline. If you bring in someone else , you expect them to learn enough in one week to be effective. That also means for every minute you have this new guy running plays, that's one less play run with the 1st string. 25 years ago, the coach just says, we're extending practice an extra hour for the new guy to learn, but that doesn't work today. If you're going to activate a 3rd QB who hopefully would never even see the field. which position group would you suggest we have one less active player for? And keep in mind every other position likely is one that the active backups all play in. Almost every team in the league only has 2 QB's active, and if it gets to the 33rd guy, the team is in deep trouble and we're no different. We were unique all season in that Webb was active I believe almost every week as Webb played ST. Which I'm sure today, Webb won't be playing any ST.

Don't see anything about how much this will cost, how much they make in concession sales, and how much more they expect to make as a result of these renovations which not surprised to not see any of that listed. So considering we basically no nothing, can't see any reason to question why they are doing it. Likely compared to the cost of a new stadium and what they may be able to make in increased sales could mean the payback is less than 5 years so then why not.

I see two major problems with TT, his hesitancy to make throws and his accuracy. I jokingly say the reason his int % is so low is the passes are often so far off target the CB can't even get to them either. If he only had one of these issues, I don't care which, he'd be a decent serviceable QB who likely would have won maybe two more games a season. With a little better team around him, could likely lead team to playoffs and maybe deep into them. But have both of these issues holding you down is just too much to overcome and what you see is what you get. If he goes to a new team, there likely will be some early improvement as no scheme, new players around him, will take some time for defenses to figure him out again, but eventually will catch up.

2018 Trade partners moving up the board
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Explain to me the difference between those two things? Seems unless you take a QB who is guaranteed to be a franchise leading QB You draft the #3 or 4th rated QB, say Mayfield, from everything written, you're hoping for the best. Even taking Darnold, who's a California dude, with a bit of a questionable off field stuff is hoping for the best out of him IMO I'd completely agree with you in trading up for the QB if there was pretty much a can't miss guy to take, but they all seem to have questions. Who ever is being discussed, one report is he's be the next Peyton Manning, the next report, could be maybe another Dalton/Tannerhill kind of guy.. Seems to me this entire best QB class in a long time was spot on until they actually played out the 2017 college season. Pretty soon the talk of the great 2018 QB class will be starting. -
Will the Bills bring in a QB?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't know if anyone was watching the end of the Jax game, I'd suggest they sign the fan in the stands who threw something and hit the Seattle player. Doubt TT could have made that accurate of a throw. While I understand fans shouldn't be throwing stuff at players I do find it easy to make an exception when it involves Seattle. The player certainly escalated things by trying to go after the fans as 9 times out of 10 that's not going to stop anything, just make it worse. -
How much longer does McD get?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to The juice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because he can since no one wants to stop people from posting and starting threads 5 minutes after creating an account. so unfortunately there are pages of rubbish just like this. -
The problem is money is involved, so as soon as the player is losing salary the NFLPA steps in to appeal. Don't like it either, but that's the way it is. Only way it changes would be for the majority of the players to ask for change. And that's kind of what happened the last time when they agreed to give Roger all the power.

From what was stated Woods was a FA and wanted to go to a team on the west coast. So likely the only way the Bills could have hung onto him was by way over paying. In Watkins case, in the 3 seasons here between the numbers he put up and being healthy he did very little and 28 catches this season to justify the large contract he's going to want. So yes we could have hung onto him this seaosn and likely would have helped some, but would likely have lost him at years end as doubt we'd want ot pay big $$ for a 28 reception WR. He also made some comments a couple months back kind of admitting he didn't exactly try his hardest here in Buffalo so again, doubt we'd have re-signed him unless all of a sudden he agreed to a big contract reduction. Maybe Wood's big numbers this season is due to having better QB play

Rookies played really well against chiefs

Nope completely wrong. There are other threads here that prove our draft class this past spring was terrible. -
Turning our KC Pick into a top 5 pick?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is getting crazy. I'd like to see must be a member for at least 30 days before replying to a post (1st 30 days spent observing only) then 6 months and 100 replies before starting own new threads. Freedom of the press is really getting out of hand here!! -
Watkins needs to step up.... Woods out....
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watkins just helped create an INT by the Saints. Was a lucky play, but without Sammy's help wouldn't have happened
