Josh Allen - week TEN report card
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many times was Cleveland in Allen's face immediately? Maybe Allen needs to recognize that better, but he's still relatively inexperienced. Think the O-line is still one good stud away from not hurting the team overall. They also are a long way from having a top level WR core. Brown and Beasley are keepers and probably Roberts for his ST play, but the rest need a big improvement from. -

Is it coaching or lack of overall talent? How many times was Cleveland in Allens face? Maybe he needs to better recognize that and get rid of it faster, but those are the types of things that take time to learn, not 1.5 seasons. Or maybe the issue is the line while better than last season, still isn't good enough. Don't think you need a total rebuild, but they are at least one good lineman away from being able to hold the other team put consistently. Cleveland has a legit #1 WR and a 1A Buffalo has a 1A and that's about it on top of that 2 rookie TE's one who's looking pretty good, but will also needs more time. Did Kroft play at all today? Wonder if there's still issues with the foot. -
It was an obvious forward pass, as mentioned same play that the Bills often run to McKenzie. Normally though the receiver is spaced a littler further forward so more obvious. Since he was so close the arm did go forward but didn't need to go forward very much as the guy was so close, kind of in shot put motion. Probably one of the most ugly attempts I've sen of that play, but it was the correct call. I'd go as far to say if you want to argue that was fumble, then the play by Allen maybe in the 2nd quarter where the arm got hit as he threw was also a fumble. If you're not wearing Bills goggles, then you need to have your eyes checked.

Some mid-season thoughts re Allen and the team

Do you mean he connected on 5 or only threw 5? -
Does the Ravens game get flexed?

Agree forgot about the SF Rams game, that likely will be the late one. -

Likely will become the featured 1:00 game that most of the neutral county gets. I do think the Bills NE game gets moved to Saturday, maybe the night game? There's five games listed for Sunday, however three of the five listed are getting moved to Saturday. The Bills-NE game is one of the most attractive of the five -
I was using the word "collusion" in a somewhat joking manner only because you hear it some much these days in sports and government these days. 20 years ago, don't recall ever hearing that word. Hadn't seen that article, interesting if true. Assuming it's true, I wonder why they didn't just make the rule in effect for the playoffs only. There are other rules like OT rules that differ between regular season and playoffs.

I agree on the Knox play, clear evidence he was short and the refs spotted it correctly. No way that one is over turned. On the PI yes clear evidence there was PI, but as about 100 others have already stated, pretty much none of the challenged PI calls are being overturned. If I didn't know better I'd suspect collusion on the part of the officials.

This doesn't pass the smell test. I agree with your point on the offense, but the defense, even including the last two games is better than slightly above average. Coming into the game they were ranked 3rd overall. That's better than slightly above. I think you're undervaluing 10% better. I'm not a statisticians major, but I believe what you need to do would be determine the standard deviation of both the offensives and defensive stats. While 10% doesn't sound like alot, I wouldn't be surprised if that is better than most.

Cole Beasley not being utilized right.

Yeah thought he was 12 of 16, saw afterwards it was 14 of 20 attempts -
A question about rules
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SloanBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So exactly who does decide on these things. Is it a guy an NY who says yes or no? Or does the ref on the field decide whether to reverse his call or not? I thought a guy in NY decided this is worth looking at some more, but then up to the ref on the field. The prevailing opinion is refs don't want to be second guessed on judgement calls so are not over turning anything. But if it's a guy in NY who's only job is to uphold or over turn replays then why wouldn't he over turn them? I'd think he'd be worried about being fired for not over turning obvious ones or for that matter pretty much anything. And it the call is 100% decided by some guy in NY, then why does the referee on the field even go under the hood to look at it? He could just stand in the middle of the field and the guy in NY could whisper in his ear what to do. -

When you only throw 16 times, 2 out of 16 isn't all that bad. -
Agree the team isn't as good as the record. As for Allen, can only go by what he did and they aren't asking him to do much. Not sure how much they were afraid to throw becasue of the wind. Tyrod numbers except no way Tyrod can make half the throws that Allen makes. Tyrod was afraid to throw it. Allen isn't afraid, his opportunities seem to be limited by the play calls coming in.

Josh Allen - week NINE report card

I do question how much of the game plan was due to the wind? -
Definitely need better guards next year...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TheBeaneBandit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think next year Ford will take Spains place, leaving them needing a RT. Ford Morse, and Feleciano inside and Dawkins at one tackle slot is fine. Agree with DE, think that may be their #1 pick as not likely to get a great FA there. Teams with great DE don't let them go so likely need to get one through the draft. WR could sign a FA and not sure we need a elite #1 either. I'd take Brown Beasley and another Brown look alike. -

Duke Williams being inactive will be crushing news to many here.! -
If that happens one person who'll be rather made is McDaniel's. Thought I recall 2 seasons back he was thinking of leaving and was unofficially promised the crown next when BB leaves in exchange for him staying. Things can change, but sure will create a fire in McDaniel's every time he faces him to win and run up the score doing it if little Billy is given the job instead.
