Bored - Offseason Speculation
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So if you sign Phillips and Liuget you'd have 5 tackles on the roster, can't see that happening. Oliver will be the starter, can't see paying big $$ for a backup so may be that Liuget is the more economical option particularly since Phillips is having a pretty strong year and be able to get big money. Admittedly the Bills do like rotating players, but still only keeping four. To me the only way it would make sense to sign both would be sign Liuget on a real cheap contract that you can easily trade or cut at the end of pre-season just in case another DT is injured. I think I'd try to sign either Lawson or keep Murphy, don't want to try and find two new DE for next season. Personally I'd use their #1 round pick on DE, sign a mid range FA and then also have either Lawson or Murphy I'll be surprised if they re-sign Spain as I think they'd prefer drafting a rookie in the 2nd or 3rd round for that position. Not sure if I really want to see them sign a FA #1 WR, maybe would rather see them sign a guy like Parker, Anderson, or Cobb. Would also use a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a WR, maybe a guy who is expected to become real good, but might take a year or two to get there. Un the mean time having one of them, plus Brown and Beasley as your starters would be pretty good and likely be a cheaper option. My draft picks would be 1st DE/OLB 2nd and 3rd Guard and WR in whatever order My top FA signings would be strong #2 type WR, OLB/DE, mid tier OT, kicker, big strong RB. With the exception of the OLB/DE others more strong, but not top salary players. PS Thought I heard here Von Miller was also a FA after this year?? -
I think it's a combination of the first two, small market and losing team. If you're a good team small market is over looked. Sure bad teams are on primetime, but they were expected to be good i.e. Cleveland. Like many fans state, and seems I've heard coaches /players state the same, they'd all prefer playing at 1:00 on Sunday. So if it were leverage, Kraft and Jerry would be screaming for limited primetime games. I think prime time games are established by how many great match ups can we get so based on who did well the year prior and who made moves to expect a big improvement get the first nod. After that it becomes OK we're going to end up with some bad teams playing, so what bad teams are still in a large market., they get the next picks. The other factor is west coast teams get an extra benefit as it 4:30 games fit their local time frame much better. Az has four 4:25 start times, though none are the featured game. However if the Cardiunals had shocked many, would have been very easy to make that game shown in more locations without changing any start times, or swapping out games. Another thing hurting Buffalo to a lesser degree is weather. Really don't think the league wants to show a game where the 10 is around 10 degrees, they want games that would appeal to the visiting team attending too. I'm not counting Thursday night games as primetime, Bengals had one PT game at Pitt on Sunday night. Tampa Bay had none, well unless you could Sunday morning in London. So again bad teams AND small markets get limited to none. Having said all that excluding an 0-4 finish, I do believe the Bills will be on at least one Sunday night and One Monday night game next season, and likely one of them at home. If they end up 1-5 or better and appear to make some moves off season to improve more, wouldn't shock me if it's three games.

With about 5 minutes left in the game they aired one of those Baker Progressive commercials with him "taking care of the house" I couldn't help but think maybe he should be worrying more about playing football and not the house. Maybe I'm being unfair in my characterization, but that seems to be whom he is. So to answer the original question, No wouldn't trade Allen for Baker

McDermott's in game adjustments...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
During the game the announcers were also praising McD for the play of the defense. While not to take away anything from him being the overall leader, I do wonder though how much is actually him vs Fraiser? Obviously if your background is on defense, you're going to spend more time on that side of the ball, but how much in game tweaks are on him (or any coach) vrs coordinators. That's not just true of McD but of all coaches in the league too. I do give McD full credit for the challenge wins and deciding when to go or not go for it on 4th down and other things going on outside the game itself. It's almost like the reverse of the old Bill Walsh first 15 players are scripped regardless of what happens WRT down and distance, etc. -
There was an article a couple weeks back ranking all the teams QB play with respect to the future and the Bills were in the top 10, think around 8th, ahead of NO, SD, & NE for the exact reason you mention. Better yet how many wives of posters on Two Bills Drive would trade their husbands for JA? Be careful around here!

Romo broadcast today's game
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to GoBills!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whenever Steve Tasker broadcast a Bills game, everyone would always complain about how negative he was towards the Bills. Would be interesting to hear Cowboy fan's take on todays broadcast if they saw Romo as so pro Dallas or will they be complaining about how pro Buffalo he was. Or even when Tasker was being portrayed as negative, did fans of the other team agree? My point being fans or a respective team are not the most un biased on their perception of these types of things. -
Thought we were 4-0 pre-season? Who'd we lose to??

Asking for a friend. If you don't have access to NFL network, can you find this on some streaming site? -
Think what he meant was White isn't in the same "league" as Gilmore so Cooper and company will be running wild today.

I've read that the reasoning is it helps weaker teams by not allowing all 53 to be active. Don't recall all the logic, but basically that a strong teams 50th thru 53rd player would be better than a weak teams So it evens things out more. Been a few years since I read that so don't recall all the details, but that was the reasoning.

Joshua Patrick Allen, aka Mr 3rd down
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not too surprising when you factor in he has one of the strongest arms in the league. So when defenses know you're going to throw the guy with the strong arm will come out ahead more compared to others. -

There's a good chance that Buffalo Balt will be the featured early game that most of the county gets where no local team involved (like me) leading into KC - NE game Wow this week San Fran at Balt on Sunday, should be a good one and no Bills game to conflict with, hopefully that will be shown where I live and not Green Bay Giants. -
In other words does it work just like roll over minutes on your cell bill?

Still worried about the Bills' offense?

If the Bills were to sign one in the off season, we can just all refer to him as the FART project. Copywrite by me! -

Are we in trouble with Ford?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They still likely will need a guard then as doubt Spain will be re-signed. Think they'd rather draft a rookie for that spot. -
Does worry me a bit if he's going to be one of these guys that always needs extra motivation. Granted he's only a rookie who likely has had it easy all his life as he was always the best player on the field which now is no longer true. So he could learn a life lesson or will this become a year to year thing with him? We shall see. Having said that, agree he has looked much better. Also may simply be after 10 weeks, the game has finally started to slow down for him.

Any Updates on the Foster Injury?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foster brings one thing to the line up, Williams brings something else. A couple of plays would be added to their respective strengths. Don't think it's huge difference either way.
