Wallace interception spot/Camera angles
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SoCal Deek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because when you slide the ball is marked by the beginning of the slide point. Guess the rule is such that once you slide you can't be hit much, you're giving yourself up as they say, so we're not going to give extra yards because you're a good slider. So was the right call. Could see the look on Allens eyes, he was surprised/pissed about it too. -
Wallace interception spot/Camera angles
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to SoCal Deek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They never commented so I was wondering too, but likely they must have ruled him down by contact. OK just looked at the ESPN play by play and that states no return after the Int, so must have ruled him down on the catch. -
3 worst passing teams right now are...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Ravens also have a running QB so their entire offense is geared around run first. Their QB is structured to run to set up the pass. Is that sustainable, probably not IMO and certainly have taken a step back this season. In the case of Cleveland, would be interesting to see Bakers stats for the past 6 weeks alone as do think he's improved as of late. As good as Allen, no but has looked better. If they lost their RB, could they survive on Bakers arm, while he's improved, don't think he's shown enough to think they could win games on his arm alone. -
Both PAT's missed too, can question if they were really out or not. Was very close.

Thought I recalled reading too that he hardly fumbled at all in College. -
QB succession, how hard is it?

Actually I graduated HS in 1973, but didn't live in the area and didn't follow them. I can recall OJ highlights and seeing a few of their games. Recall watching a late season Saturday game on TV with Ahmad Rashad playing in. Started following the Bills in 80's. -

Before my time, did the Bills go from Kemp to Ferguson? Or was there someone in between? May have been they were sou lousy in between, don't recall anyone else?? LOL! -
Who is more instrumental in building the Bills?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting quote below from today's BN article on Beane. To me the answer to this question is both. McD needs to understand what the team needs, but Beane needs to figure out how to get it and how to pay for it within the framework they have. And alot goes into comments below Beane is already thinking about next year, but MCd needs to be on board with changes too and be moving in that direction. This may be why last two weeks both Kroft and Murphy were inactive. Can we talk about this guy, getting him in more in lineup because we need to develop him because we’re not going to be able to pay this other player? We can talk about the cap and where I see it going in the offseason. Sometimes it’s play a player to see if this guy has it. If he doesn’t, let’s find out now before we go into the offseason. -
I'm a fan of Knox and feel he still can become a very good TE in the league. Having said that the one part that would make me nervous abut this play is, does Knox catch it? That's a live ball if he drops it. Think I'd suggest getting a few more weeks of improved play from Knox, then save this one for the playoffs.

Mike Tomlin over or underrated
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he was a good coach that's been there too long and just isn't that highly effective anymore. Still good for 10 wins a year and make the playoffs, but not so sure he's going to be able to deliver a Super Bowl victory. He won the SB in his second year essentially with most of Cowler's roster, people have knocked Gruden for doing the same in Tampa, only difference there was prior coach Dungy was fired, here Cowler retired. Since then lost in one SB and one conference championship. Other years mostly had early playoff losses. -
Yes they have the best team in 20 years, but is it really good enough to win the Super Bowl and are they one of the top 4 teams in the league. They need improvement at CB, LB, O-line ( five lineman are upcoming FA) TE so can't see how they can afford to keep everyone when you have replacements with little drop off in talent. Throw in upcoming contracts to Allen, Edmunds, Hyde something needs to give. Brown was paid $8M at the time being looked at as the #1 WR on the team, now with Diggs here, paying that much to a #2 WR doesn't seem very smart. He may be back, but not on the existing contract, will likely need to take a big cut. On the line could see it coming down to a choice between Feleciano or cutting Morse to pay for him.

Bills sign Brandon Beane to contract extension!!!
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rumor has it the reason this extension took so long was Peg's was trying to get Beane to agree to also take over the Sabres! -
Think he either restructures fairly significantly as in pay cut or he's gone. Cut Brown Morse, Butler, and Smith saves $22.1M Cut Addison could save another $6.25M. The $22M would allow them to resign Mongo, Milano, & Williamsand some mid range FA signings depending on the actual cap, maybe a legit edge rusher to replace Addison. While they don't use WAR in football directly, thinking about it from that standpoint, IMO justifies cutting Brown and have Davis take his spot and McKenzie Hodgins takes Davis role. To the comments about surrounding Allen with as many weapons, those weapons are Mongo, and Williams. Think they need them more than Brown.

I'd put Bledsoe in the "you can't teach an old dog new tricks category" so rule him out. Taylor, Fitz, Flutie all lacked arm strength Johnson could never stay healthy Manual and Losman not sure they just had the overall talent and likely were drafted much higher than they should have been. The only one left is Edwards who I'd give a maybe to, but would need to tailor the offense around his skills.

Week 15 Browns-Giants flexed to SNF
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Likely there will be one CBS game flexed to the 4:00 slot which both the Bills Miami game and the Pitt Cleveland game are. There will also be one game flexed to Sunday night from either the CBS or Fox side. There are also two 4:00 Fox games scheduled, involving all four NFC west teams which good chance all four could still be in playoff chase at a minimum both games could determine seeding so as has been mentioned above likely they will want to keep both of those games going at the same time which they can do by keeping at 4;00 on Fox . So that leaves the Bills Miami game and the Pitt Cleveland game as the two most likely IMO to be moved to Sunday night and the other to 4:00 on CBS. Excluding those 4:00 Fox games, those are also the only two games where both teams are likely in the playoffs and could determine either division or wildcard seeding. PS I wish I knew how to resize the graphic below to make larger? LOL -
Diggs proves the trade skeptics wrong
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 27yankees's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Long term success like Hopkins with Texans, or OBJ with Giants, or Sammy in Buffalo? If you can get five years success out of almost any player these days you're doing good. To much can change to quickly to worry about ten years out. Recall maybe 4 or 5 years back all the talk about how Dallas would have the best O-line for the next ten years or so, how's that working? The one exception being QB IF you do find a good one, try and do everything to hang on, but that's often at the demise of affording other players. Even that's tricky, look at Tannerhill in Miami. Allen, Mahomes, maybe Murrey to be able to afford then, if/once they become top talent, you can't afford the #1 WR's and others, instead you need to keep drafting new ones on rookie contracts. Look at all the churn in Green Bay WR group over the years. Overall you need a ten year plan, but best to keep as few actual names in it as you can so not really thinking about what Jefferson can give you ten years from now. -
Big deal! I guess I have a hard time believing that voters look that closely at the ranking of the opponent when deciding whom to vote for as opposed to actual performance. Maybe if it were against a really brutal team like the Jets or something. If it is based on defensive ranking Allen won the week he went up against Seattle.
-
I wonder if much of the Bills running issues are the result of lack of use. When you know all week from practice and seeing what the game plan is, and you see you are likely very little part of it, how's that affect you? Not that it's an excuse, but reality may be when they do call a running play, after starting a game with what was it against Seattle 19of the first 20 plays were passes, how ready are you really going to be?

Diggs proves the trade skeptics wrong
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 27yankees's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one thing you're likely way understating is how much Diggs being here has helped Allen. Jefferson never could have provided that as a rookie. Diggs also likely had helped Davis develop too.
