OPINION: Mitch Trubisky should be Bills' backup quarterback
Nextmanup replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure he's guaranteed to land a starting gig at all! I heard "Sneaky Joe" mention this on the air the other day and obviously, a big part of his analysis here is the assumption that Trubisky is NO LONGER starting QB material. There is going to be unprecedented QB turnover all around the league this year, so who knows how it all plays out. -
I’m warming up to the JJ Watt idea
Nextmanup replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'd cost too much; he'd be hurt too often; and his play is too diminished for this to make sense, NOW. A number of years ago? Would have been fun for him to be a Bill. -
The NHL really f-ed this one up! But who is surprised?

Pensacola, Florida has far more than its fair share of white trash. The entire panhandle of Florida, hell, the entire northern half of Florida, is white trash hell.

That's basically a panini press, which is essential equipment in any kitchen! If you like your panini caldo, you gotta have one of these!

I'm surprised football cards still looked that primitive in 1970.

Cam Newton, NFL MVP. Does any team want him 2021?

Correlation does not imply causation. Holy crap. -
We need a thread for this? Come on, man.

Source: LB Matt Milano looking for “top dollar” in FA
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is always true. Every player is going to do what's best for himself; every team is going to do what's best for itself. Sounds like this is where we part company with signore Milano. Ciao! -
I wrote here in the run up to the game that we can all count on KC getting their 30+ points in the game and that we will need ours too if we want to win. And that therefore all the pressure and focus (as always!) was on Josh Allen and the passing game. All of that proved to be true. The fact of the matter is our great passing attack, which got us into the playoffs this year, was not that great in any of our 3 playoff games. It never really got on song with Allen in a groove, spreading the ball around, hitting lots of different receivers, etc. You are always going to end up going against SOMEBODY with a stellar QB who is going to throw the ball all over the place and have to match that type of production! If you can't you'll lose. Look at the QBS left standing this year! Same names we have seen for a long time, and in Mahomes, a name we will see for a long time to come. For these reasons, I have said over and over that we should put the bulk of our off-season resources into the passing attack. Make it more deadly. More speed. A better running/catching TE. A good catching HB to come out of the backfield. Better OLmen if we can find them, especially on the cheap. Etc. Pretty sure no one wants to give tuh-ROD his job back.

A brutally honest look at the Bills' playoff games
Nextmanup replied to Arm of Harm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Christian Wade part was a very minor point in the context of the whole, but everyone keeps harping on about it. I guess it's supposed to be funny? -
For sound quality you need to be wired. If you don't care about sound quality, get whatever wireless system fits your budget.

Mel Kiper, Jr. as GM candidate? Yeah, it's possible.
Nextmanup replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper is laughed at as an amateur by the NFL industry insiders. I don't see an owner hiring him as GM, nor should they. He has absolutely no background of any kind to take on that job. -
Should NFL Adopt 3rd Place Game Week Before Super Bowl?
Nextmanup replied to Dr.Sack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's just not true. When the game starts, professional athletes play to the best of their ability. And even if it was true, you can correct that by building an incentive into the game. Winner gets an additional 2nd round pick, after everyone else in the league gets their 2nd round pick, in the subsequent draft. Or something like that. -
Way too much at this stage of the game for Stafford.

Beane says no "blockbuster" moves. Do you believe him?
Nextmanup replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope we trade down to worse draft positions but gain a pick or 2 along the way. I don't see the making a "blockbuster" deal. I think he will pull off a trade or 2 however. -
Deshaun Watson officially requests trade from Houston
Nextmanup replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John Clayton said the other day on GR-55 that he thinks Watson will remain in Houston. I.E., the organization will find a way to patch things up and keep him. The owner wants to keep him there, and Watson is not the guy who controls his own movement....the organization is....and so he is expected to remain there, at least according to Clayton. This is often brought up by fans, but do you have any data to support the assertion that a "running QB" is injured more than a stationery QB? What if your QB is injured b/c his own OL steps on his ankle coming out of the snap? What if he breaks a finger on the follow-through while passing from the pocket? Do those injuries count? -
Super Bowl Thread: KC at Tampa Bay
Nextmanup replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think this sentiment is widely shared by your fellow Bills fans, but you have a right to cheer for whomever you wish. My interest in the SB will be limited to hoping for a hit on, and injury to, Brady. 😳 -
IMO, you can flat out count on Singletary and Brown being gone next year, and replaced with improvements at cheaper Ks.

Detriot Lions and Stafford to part ways this offseason
Nextmanup replied to Wayne Cubed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is going to be unprecedented QB movement around the league this off-season, and it can only make things fun and interesting. We aren't going to know how good or bad anyone is until the season has a chance to play out a bit...as usual. -
Ed Oliver is a talented guy, but he is undersized at this level. He is never going to be able to overcome that, either, because his raw frame is not big enough. I personally would never go for "small but fast and talented" guys on the interior of the D line in the modern game of football. There are too many 350+ pound fat asses that you have to move out of the way or fend off from moving YOU out of the way, and raw mass is important in that. There's a reason the yokozuna in Sumo is always the 530 pound Samoan, and not the super talented 280 pound Japanese guy.

Never liked her character and her appearance shouted out "I am not Italian" which stuck in my craw. Being Italian and having been around short, plump, sweet, loving, old Italian ladies my entire life, none of them remind me--at all--of Livia Soprano.

Teams not showing up for entire games, or 1 or 2 periods is a part of the modern NHL. Some nights BOTH teams do this. And then they blame the schedule. "back to back games" or "third game in 4 nights", etc. As I often point out, your typical regular season NHL hockey game how has the intensity and competitiveness of a high school scrimmage played at Lincoln Park in the Town of Tonawanda. I know because I used to play in those! LOL Empty buildings only take a terrible product and make it a lot worse. The new unwritten code is "go along to get along," keep it easy going, no one gets hurt, and the pay checks keep rolling in. Don't hit me, I don't hit you...and let's not break too much of a sweat here. Thanks. Thankfully, the playoffs are still like the old days, and a completely different sport. I watched last night's game as I always do, online for free, in about 1.5 hours FF-ing through all breaks, delays, and intermissions. I have no idea how people sit through these things in real time. It doesn't help that RJ and Rob Ray are easily among the worst 3 pairs of announcers in the NHL currently working. I LOVE RJ TO PIECES but he needed to retire 3 or 4 years ago. I also LOVE RAYZOR TO PIECES. He was actually pretty good as the third man working from ice level, but as the color guy in a 2 man team, he is atrocious. I hate to say it, but I now tend to watch only the other team's broadcasts, some of which are so much better than the current Sabres' product as to be quite sad. I genuinely don't know what young person or viewer new to the game of hockey would stumble across an NHL regular season game on TV and think "Oh this looks interesting. I need to dive into this!" In the old days when ESPN televised NHL games, they would point out that the PBA got better ratings for freaking bowling matches than an NHL hockey game! The product is a lot worse now.
