  1. His talent certainly is exceptional, but even if Allen is elite and Coleman finds new life, we are desparate for OL help . So I have to ask how much first. Also, he would replace either Murphy or Hughes or Shaq and they could be part of that trade too. Maybe we could put him at SSLB where we need to find Lo's replacement, but I think his talent is wasted there. I'd put him at RE (again, if we have enough free space to rebuild our OL.)
  2. We just don't know the whole story, but this is hardly the 1st time Richie has acted wacky for no apparent reason. I thought he was doing better, but I guess not. The accusations after the JAX playoff game still resonate here.
  3. I think it's much like the old rule with a simpler and clearer definition.
  4. Where is the cap space coming from? Never mind. He'll resign with the Raiders. Negotiating tactic.
  5. I question the notion that it is the NFL that wants a new stadium. Why do they care? They aren't in the construction business and the stadium in OP is fine as is. I could see putting a roof on it, but let's use use the rest of that money for education. Good for the local economy.
  6. And they had problems before they lost 3 starters. I'm not as hopeful as some. I think this could be a very difficult year for the O. Points may be few and the pass protection will be leaky.
  7. O'Leary could rather easily be replaced by a better 2nd TE, but it's not a priority with the WR's, OL and QB positions unsettled as well as some spots on D.
  8. He's a decent backup RB and a considerably better option than anyone other than McCoy or Ivory. If the price is right, he'd be an upgrade for RB depth.
  9. Because he is the next best LB in the NFL after Von Miller. Because he makes game changing plays. Because he'd be the best pass rusher on our roster. Because we need help at LB and can likely find more OL help in the draft than in FA because teams aren't letting good OL walk much these days.
  10. I hope you're right, but I fear that you are greatly overestimating the talent on our defense.
  11. I disagree. There are better LB's available for a backup job and I'd rather develop a younger guy there than a proven nontalent in his 30's.
  12. This offense was ranked #1 WORST position group in the entire NFL. Bottom line: high potential with high risk. Get some serious help on the OL, WR, TE and RB before starting Allen. I think the odds are against him, but I really hope he's our franchise QB.
  13. I think your analysis is spot on. Next year Allen should be ready and we will have more than $100,000,000 to spend on surrounding him with talent. Let's hope Beane knows what he's doing.
  14. It will look a LOT like his offenses in Cleveland -- stuck in neutral.
  15. Unless he starts playing a lot better than he has been, they are right. Now we are stuck with a backup DT that we must play and pay as a starter for several years. This was a really bad move. No matter. Our offense will be so horrible that no one will notice and Lotulelei will just go back to being invisible. They're right about that too. Whichever QB wins the starting job will take a pounding. The OL is a disaster. None of our QB's are proven. McCoy and Ivory are on the wrong side of 30. Our receiving corps is weak overall. A recent nfl.com article has our O ranked as the single "thinnest position group" in the league.
  16. I agree we're ranked too high, but: 1. Next year our cap space will allow us to sign considerable talent, so our ranking should be higher. 2. If Allen turns out better than many have predicted, that ranking also goes up considerably.
  17. I remember that game, OP, but I'd pick that game in Buffalo against the Raiders on MNF after OJ threatened to retire and Ralph went to LA to talk him into staying. He returned days before that MNF week 1 game and lit up the Raiders in a blowout win for the Bills. Oh and there was that game in the early 90's in NJ when Jets fans were so upset that one guy tried to burn down the stadium. Remember that one? Mark Gastineau retired the next day in humiliation, or was it Klecko?
  18. Maybe, but I kinda doubt it when we need a CB, Speed WR and serious OL help among other needs. Besides, they just signed T Murphy to start opposite Hughes. They can't start 3 DE's. Maybe if they don't retain Hughes??? Still, I think it pays to address your weakest positions as a priority if you already have a good QB. Let's hope our QB quandry is finally over.
  19. Another good WR would be a help if they are as good as either of those 2, but I don't know what speed they have and if we are going to go to that length to acquire someone to line up opposite KB it should be a guy like Sammy that can take the top off a defense and open up some room underneath for other receivers and the ground game. In fact, I think the loss of Sammy was one reason why our ground game struggled. This is not to say that unloading Sammy was the wrong move, but that's the kind of receiver we should be looking for.
