  1. We are paying Dawkins $12M-$13M/yr and paying Williams $10M/yr. Your dream is paying $23M/yr on guards who are actually tackles?
  2. This is a wild thought, but maybe we keep our franchise Left Tackle at Left Tackle and keep our solid rookie Right Tackle at Right Tackle? Dawkins is having a bad year, but he had a very bad case of covid and has absolute garbage at Guard next to him. Do we really think he sucks all of a sudden? Like he went from being above average for several years to sucking so bad that we have to change his position? Stop it.
  3. Perhaps we should wait to see how long he’s going to be out before overreacting? Or, is this what we do now? Overreact about every loss, every win, and every injury.
  4. I would love to see the Bills draft a great 1-Tech to groom behind Star. Star has been great (contrary to popular opinion these past few years), but his availability has been an issue and that won't get better as he turns 33 next season.
  5. To the creator of this thread.... Take a moment, read all of the comments and reactions on this thread before it's locked. Think about it for a little while. If you're saying this type of stuff to your friends and family ... maybe, don't?
  6. "IF WE DON'T WIN THE SUPERBOWL IT IS BRANDON BEANE'S FAULT!!!! HE DID NOT GET EVERY DRAFT PICK RIGHT!!!" Do you hear yourself? Good lord. Beane and McDermott turned this team into a playoff team every year and super bowl contender and you're STILL not satisfied? Every GM gets picks wrong.... is this a joke?
  7. When you say "this year" you're referring to the first week of the season, when the entire o-line was a mess, and the Jags game, when the entire o-line was a mess? VS an entire year of above-average production last year? Yeah def, lets start a guy cut by two teams this year over him.
  8. It's incredible how quickly people forget how well Darryl Williams played at RT last year. Bobby Hart is a dumpster fire at RT and an emergency-use only player. There is zero chance we play Bobby Hart over Darryl Williams at RT this week.
  9. Is this really a surprise? They were the best team in the league for 20 years, which means they have a ton of (bandwagon) fans all over the country. Of course they're going to get a ton of press if they're even semi-relevant. Patriots stories sell.
  10. Baker Mayfield. That's the comp I see. Fantastic rookie year. A lot of people expected a great rookie season from both players because they both played in "pro-ready" offenses and weren't asked to do a lot. I think what we're seeing is much closer to Mac's ceiling than Pats fans would like to admit. He'll be a great game manager and get them barely in the playoffs or barely outside the playoffs year after year.... like a Kirk Cousins. That's exactly what you hope for in a division rival, because it never gives them a chance to get a superstar QB like the one we have.
  11. He's under contract next year.... $7.6M for a guy who was named to the All-Pro team last season. You guys are crazy.
  12. Unexpected Studs: Levi Wallace Spencer Brown Greg Rousseau Nobody thought Brown and Rousseau would be this impactful in their first year. Levi has been quietly fantastic. (A lot of people saw Knox, Poyer, etc coming) Unexpected Duds: Cody Ford Matt Haack Zach Moss We expected Ford and Haack to be bad, but not this terrible. I was hoping Moss would take a step this year. Instead, he's looking as average as Singletary.
  13. I would highly suggest not getting in your own head about the #1 seed. A reasonable hope would be that they find their stride by playoff time, win most of their games, and stay healthy. Just enjoy the games. One loss isn't the end of the world. One win doesn't make them super bowl winners. It's a long season...
  14. Hot take, this trade destination is absolute best case scenario: - The Rams already have 3 great WR. Van Jefferson is underrated. Kupp and Woods are great. - The Rams play in the NFC, so the only way we see them is the Super Bowl. He's gone from the AFC. - The downside of "how do we get the ball to Odell" might cancel out the marginal increase of Odell over Jefferson in 3-wide sets. - Locker room cancer for potentially our greatest Super Bowl threat. I love it.
  15. This is just such a bad take. No, Beane isn’t calling other position coaches to ask if they should draft/sign O-Linemen, but that’s because they aren’t ON HIS PAYROLL. Bobby Johnson’s job, as paid by Brandon Beane, is literally to coach and evaluate O-Line talent inside the building. OF COURSE they discuss O-Line talent together, which is information used to make decisions. You don’t need to change the topic or split hairs to backtrack from a bad take. No, Bobby Johnson doesn’t “analyze whether a player should be traded” but he CERTAINLY shares his opinion on the guys he is literally paid to coach and evaluate. This really shouldn’t be so hard to grasp. If Bobby Johnson gives bad information to Brandon Beane, it turns into bad roster moves.
  16. Oh man... ok. Let's try to explain this differently: Option 1: Beane listens to Bobby Johnson. Bobby Johnson is a former Offensive Lineman who understands the nuances of Offensive Line play. He is with the Offensive Linemen of the Bills nearly every day and practices with them 1 on 1 nearly every day. He gives his opinions to Beane on the Offensive Line talent on the roster and decides where they line up. Option 2: Beane "watches almost every Bills game" and makes a decision without any input from Bobby Johnson. Brandon Beane, who is in charge of roster management, cap management, filling every position on the field along with practice squad, coaching and executive hires, publicity, and general team management... and he makes unilateral decisions on the Offensive Line. Which is more likely?
  17. A few corrections to your post: - Bobby Johnson was signed in January, 2019. Wyatt Teller was traded August 29th, 2019. They had all training camp and pre-season together. - Morse was coming off a great career as a 2nd round pick in KC and was made one of the highest paid Centers in the league by the Bills. - He didn't "turn Spain into" a good player. Spain was great in 2018 and then Bobby Johnson benched him after he signed an extension. - Dawkins was drafted in 2017 and looked great before Bobby Johnson got here. I don't understand the excuses for this guy... So, I think this mindset is the issue. You're right that Bobby Johnson didn't force Beane to make these moves. However, Brandon Beane isn't sitting in the O-Line room and coaching these players every day. He's not scouting his own offensive line 24/7. He's trying to bring in new talent and like every other GM, relies on his coaches for information on internal need. At some point, Beane probably asked Bobby Johnson "hey, how is this Wyatt Teller guy looking?" or "what are we missing on the O-Line" and the information he's been given is consistently wrong.
  18. Like many of you, I listen to daily podcasts, read the beat reports, and read this message board daily. The commentary is consistent: "Brandon Beane did a bad job with our Offensive Line." Here's my take ... it's not Beane. It's Bobby Johnson, our O-Line coach. Bobby Johnson joined the Bills staff in early 2019, his first time as head O-Line coach in the NFL: 2018: Brandon Beane drafts Wyatt Teller in the 5th round. 2019: Wyatt Teller traded for a 5th and 6th round pick. The next year Wyatt Teller becomes a pro-bowl player. 2018: Brandon Beane signs Quinton Spain to a 1 year deal, followed by a 3 year extension. 2020: Quinton Spain is benched in favor of Cody Ford and Brian Winters. He is later released. The next year Quinton Spain becomes a pro-bowl caliber player. 2019: Brandon Beane drafts Cody Ford in the 2nd round. He is lined up at Right Tackle and struggles badly. 2020: Cody Ford is lined up at Right Guard and struggles. Quinton Spain is released and Cody Ford is flipped to Left Guard and struggles. 2021: Cody Ford is named starting Right Guard to begin the season, then is benched in week 2. 2020: Brandon Beane signs Darryl Williams to a cheap 1 year deal at RT and he is a huge success. 2021: Darryl Williams begins the year at RT, then is flipped to RG in week 2, then moves back to RT. 2021 Offseason: Big contract extensions for Darryl Williams and Jon Feliciano. Both are sub-standard players in 2021. Spencer Brown drafted in 3rd round. Benched in week 1, starter in week 2, which again changes entire o-line. Or how about Ryan Bates this year? Clear upgrade at LG and was left rotting on the bench all regular season. The problem is not bringing in guys, it's being completely clueless about our own Offensive Line players. We change their positions endlessly and let the good ones go. That is 100% certain. Beane is certainly partially to blame, but I'm looking at Bobby Johnson as the guy in the O-Line room every day, completely clueless about his own players.
  19. The problem is both o-line and running backs. The o-line isn't creating holes, but the RBs are going down immediately on first contact and not fast enough to run away from anyone. Ever notice that there are zero outside runs? It's because our RBs can't get out there fast enough. Let's not blame one thing, but I agree with you. Bad o-line = bad running game.
  20. I like this thread. Realistic fixes to problems rather than just b*tching about Beane not constructing the perfect team. Williams would be a nice replacement for Moss, short term. See if he has more juice... he'll definitely "want it" more than Moss. This might be a hot take, but I wouldn't mind giving BOTH Breida and Williams a shot next week and sitting Singletary. What does Singletary do well? Maybe some agility and some pass catching ability... but no speed and can't break a tackle to save his life. If you have bad O-Line play, you need guys who can either run away from the pressure or run through it. Singletary can't do either.
  21. Silver lining - it’s week 9 and we’re figuring out how to solve weaknesses before the final push and playoffs
  22. It’s the offensive line, genius. There are more reasons explained in literally every other thread. What is the point of this one? Just to say “told ya so” ?
  23. Lets move our franchise left tackle to Center, put Tommy Sweeney at left tackle because he’s agile, put an injured Feliciano in at Center also, then flip Bottegar with Feliciano because position flexibility. Problem solved.
